Feedback / Why PolishForums? Give us your stories! [60]

I am happy to be among the first batch of members in this forums :) ... at that time I used to come with an anonymous ID, then I made that ID a legal one ... later I chose this ID ... and stick with it. Although everyone (those who were here from before) knows that :D.

I dont know, but perhaps I am the first Pole (from Poland) to have been a member? (Again, this is something I wonder, because at that time I could figure that I was the only).

I came here to learn English. I wanted some place to make me converse (in written or spoken) more and preferably only in ENGLISH! ... I had some friends online with whom I practiced English spoken, but written was a blessing in the guise of Polish Forums.

The very first topic was a thread which ran almost 100 pages, based on "interracial stuff", it was ugly and bloody :D ... and the start of my opposition to stupidity in Polish Forums :P ... later on ofcourse it was a closed thread.

Then I went on and off, left PF for more than a year, many things went on in life ... and now I am back again, but only when having a coffee in home ... or at breaks in work (my work is flexible now, as I concentrate more on a family trade).

Polish forums at the beginning remarkably helped my English, because then I used to make some mistakes which was punished by my greatest opposition :D ... a squirrel from England ;) .. he he....

USA, Canada / Where is loyalty of Polish diaspora in America? In USA or in Poland? What is priority? [63]

First of all there needs to be a clear understanding of what is patriotism, and then only conditions can be discussed. Me as a Pole always paid more interest in learning English, and now wish to work on learning Chinese ... I would like these two language get more emphasis then it is getting inside my country.

I love to see an American tourist ... I love to make friends with Indians and Bangladesh and Kashmir and Persian friends. I decided to live a life with an Asian ... I love books written by Tolstoy ... I do consider myself a believer in the beauty of my country as a land of hope and achievement. I don't know how others weigh hope and achievement, but I weigh hope in the laughter of a little child, and achievement in the fulfilled smile of its parents! Very simple, isnt it? And I look at the Pole in her love towards Poland, not in her religion or her color. Being from a nation where almost everyone is white, unique in Europe on many degrees. But I feel good with the little diversity we have considering our Tatars ... and the few friends of other backgrounds here in Poland with Polish halves and Polish children.

Now you might have different ways of looking at your love for the country. But then this is why I say, we cannot really measure or categorize the feeling of patriotism such that we can make such generalized comments.

Facism, nationalism are two things which should not be aligned with something to sweet as patriotism.

USA, Canada / Where is loyalty of Polish diaspora in America? In USA or in Poland? What is priority? [63]

No, but then you cannot generalize that "Poles living in Poland don't seem to be very patriotic in a first place.". Because your way of claiming someone or a nation patriotic might not be applicable to other individuals of that same nation.

I believe in loving my country with respect to others, and accepting those who love and prefer to adopt my country as their own as my equal fellow citizens. I believe that my country should not only be a part of Europe, but behave and act as a part of the wider world. We need to pursue sustainable economic development, having strong ties with USA, China, India, South Africa, Australia and Japan - however being a subject/vassal to none. Better being neutral and aloof than being a vassal to anyone.

I believe patriotism in being careful for my lands animals and birds aswell. To pick up a trash and throw it in the bin ... to gather the children in park, tell them stories and encourage them to be useful and bright citizens. To make my country the brightest example in the world ... whether it happens or not, to try for it.

To help people help themselves ... to go and build bridges between civilizations.

This is patriotism for me ... neither less and nor beyond.

USA, Canada / Where is loyalty of Polish diaspora in America? In USA or in Poland? What is priority? [63]

I wont be too surprised if they are more patriotic towards USA ... I mean rightly so. They can feel a belonging to Poland, but than it is an emotional aspect. Poland is basically a country where once their forefathers belonged to, now their reality is USA and this is as true as it gets.

USA is made up of many races and nations ... and had they not been more loyal to USA, there would not be US interests to aggressively pursued by these people around the globe.

As for Crow ... yep, I bet Serbs in USA are just as American as Mr. Barack Obama ...

Love / Polish traditions and parents (I was dating this Polish guy..) [72]

my question is polish parents really strict on who ther children marry does it have to be polish girls if everyone else in there family is polish?

I dont know how many actual Pole with a good family (functional) working in their support really replied to you. This forum is predominantly non-Polish, or usually with friends of Polish ancestry who only have the bookish or publicized version of information about Poland.

Anyway, me coming from a traditional Polish family will try to give some input on this.

Yes, it is absolutely correct that mother's take interest in whom their sons or daughters are planning to marry. This doesn't necessarily mean that they want to decide for their children entirely, but it means that they would like to make sure that if they have any importance in the lives of their children then they should be allowed to judge the future spouse of their children, and sometimes even have a debate of views so that the marriage is a healthy one.

In my case, I selected a Korean girl and this was not easy with my mother. She wondered if this was just a rush of emotions from my part, and the vast differences in our cultures might make our marriage useless, or she might not be able to connect to the rest of the family. However, with logic and counter logic, things do work out if you both are truly serious about each other. Mother's would definitely give way to a marriage she feels is based on both partners being seriously committed in. It cannot be the man or the woman crumbling on the face of questions, or the man and the woman have no patience for each other. Also, they are interested enough in each other to remain in love even after having to face some screening.

Hope I could answer your question.

Love / Good looking Polish women with ugly men [416]

This thread feeds the broken ego of the ugly hearts which thought they'd get someone good-looking, but found that she was taken away by a bright hearted guy.

Yep, there is no one uglier than the one who considers another person ugly.

UK, Ireland / Poles in Ireland by Peadar de Burca. They "turned their backs on a country that gave them" [195]

Polish immigration

I think Poles should move back to Poland, or immigrate in places like China, Australia and South America ... or South Africa. These countries and we ourselves can mutually benefit with such immigration ...

UK seems very proud and arrogant. Sorry to say this, I don't mean everyone who is British ... but as a stance the country seems uninterested in European integration so much. I don't really get too amused by Western Europe myself ...

Ireland is the promised land :-)

I respect Indians and have many friends, including ones of muslim or hindu or sikh dynasty. Also Kashmir friends. So no disrespect there ... but you seem to be OK with everyone other than the Poles! While you yourself accept that it is because of us Poles that today you are a rich man!

You can always discuss the matters of faith and God.

The faith and the God which divides people and make them think of separating, are both unnecessary and trouble makers. Sorry if it offends you or anyone, but just my opinion.

UK, Ireland / Business process outsourcing in the UK. [14]

Exactly. We need more innovative ideas with which we can do business.

30% of the people live below a dollar a day and huge majority don't declare their incomes to the government.

True, but that statistics are for the skilled labor force only.

IT sector has screwed up the Indian economy.

How? I thought that they did it so well that it became their pride?

Would you belive that we have the highest number of millionaires in the world just after the States? It's criminal to be honest.

What is criminal in having millionaires?

Anyways, you are an Indian? What makes you come to Poland :) ... I am a native of Lodz by the way, so welcome!

Please stay on topic

UK, Ireland / Business process outsourcing in the UK. [14]

Race to the bottom is the usual scenario. This will keep happening, as Indian wages are still lower. However, not for long because in India I was informed that wages were rising as a rate of 12.9% ... which is the highest in the world (with China at around 9%). This would mean that after 10 to 15 years, India is not going to remain a popular destination for western companies to outsource. They also have their domestic economy getting very strong.

In contrast to this, the Polish wages are increasing, but at a decreasing rate. In such a situation, I believe that in the near future we will have more FDIs as well as become a popular destination for western outsourcing.

Talking about English, not all Poles are very good in this language ... while Indians are definitely much better atleast in the grammar. I know this well because I've been in India, Bangladesh and Malaysia on trips sponsored by my previous job (which imported garment).

India is just on the verge of becoming the "not so lucrative" destination. Plus their software exports are increasing so rapidly, that they might take the front seat in that, which would mean that they will not only export but invent softwares. Right now they take orders to create custom made softwares, they are one of the biggest I heard. Its cheaper, reliable and very efficient industry booming in there.

However, due to their big poor class (mainly in the villages) ... they are still going to have a low GDP per capita. However, this will not attract the service outsourcing, because India have 250 mn plus people who would be educated enough to work for the domestic market (which is increasingly powerful) as well as the decreasing western direct investments and outsourcing.

Now looking at Poland from there, we have less workforce (obviously), but we have the infrastructure to cater the needs of the western firms. I think we will see a definite advantage here.

UK, Ireland / Poles in Ireland by Peadar de Burca. They "turned their backs on a country that gave them" [195]

I've heard from some friends that Poles are really hated in the UK and disliked increasingly in Ireland. I don't know why is it so intense?

Is it because our girls have been reckless and our men have worked hard in jobs you Brits were too egoistic to do yourselves?

Who do your men go get themselves involved with our woman even for temporary fun? That makes you a better human?

Why do the brits not do their smaller job and let the Poles do it? You are incapable of it?

I think we Poles are atleast better because we are not into making fun or demeaning anyone.

Why don't you brits create stricter rules so that you don't have to take us Poles for work anymore in your countries? Its better than this nagging surely!

Love / In 2009 nearly 4000 Poles married a foreigner [170]

You're contradicting yourself big time, sir.

I am not. If you re read that post which I made, all I meant that Polish men would chose a Polish girl mostly if it has to be a white girl whom he will marry.

You yourself told about some Jamaican girl ... so in this case you proved me right that the Polish man was attracted to the girl of another race, if it had to be out of Poland.

Polish men do find interest in Asian girls, not so much, but if they go out of the usual Polish/Ukrainian or Russians ... they do take a look as Asian girls as they are cute :).

Otherwise, if its a white girl he is to marry, whats the big difference?

^^ this is exactly what I said ... you can read it cant you?

Absolutely :) ... I'm a Pole and I'm married to a Korean myself. Its wonderful.

Nice to know that your husband treats you well. Polish men can be very sensitive too sometimes, all they need is trust and reliability.

I don`t understand why you link promiscuity with attractiveness. Attractiveness doesn`t mean promiscuity if you have common sense

Yeah ... its good that you said that. Monia I am not implying anything, all I was trying is to make this Midas clear that things are not like what he says.

He wants that polish women marry ugly Indians so he can do business with them.

Why not Egytians, Turks, Germans as well as the Brown Greeks? ... :D

Love / 12 years of marriage my Polish wife still doubts me [74]

but its
wrong to take advantage of this person that you love.

So true, but so much often people do tend to take advantages. Sometimes the girl, other times the boy.

However, perhaps there is always a limit to the advantage one can take. Being in a union of such a relationship like marriage in itself is a great advantage to all the storms looming around a person's life. Specially in this cruel modern era.

I really feel that if people could realize that "not everything can be picture perfect" in life, and yet it can be simply satisfactory, perhaps at times a little usual ... but still keeping us safe.

However, the concept of a vacation is something that every couple should practice. Maybe at least one a year, or if that is not possible, then perhaps they can just try and visit a farm or go trekking for a week around a mountain or a forest. Camp together ... let themselves free from all the worldly thoughts that had seemed almost too big to push away. Often we are the ones who make things big, because we feel that there is no way out of it.

How much does a human need to be truly happy? ... really, worth a thought.

I wish I had one

You know how to play that small Iranian guitar like thing whose name I am forgetting now.

Anyways, why don't you come to our country. You seen like a nice respectable person ... I don't think you will remain single once you come ;) ... welcome.

Try some universities here, they are good. Education and a responsible way of life will get you a responsible girl ... reckless and foolish way of life will get you someone for a night perhaps, with a pack of diseases and a load of sick past with it.

So you should only speak about yourself. Being promiscuous is not really an attribute the Polish can be labeled with. Perhaps there are some, but no need to imply that "we" are as such.

So Midas, your standards to select a Polish girl is Monia?

She perhaps have her own opinions. Do you really think that in a country as big as Poland, all people have the came way of thinking?

Let me tell you, if you think like that you are considerably wrong. While it is true that there are many Polish girls (specially from the more bigger towns who consider themselves more "liberated") who would go for the money and multiple mates ... there are also Polish women who are much more respectable and prefer a decent family life with one man.

How can you explain my experiences with my own family, my friends and some people who I know? Before you go on saying that I know nothing, I would like to highlight that I am Polish and you are just a visitor or an observer. There is a huuuuge difference right there. You have seen what came infront of you or what you wanted to see, while I see much more.

I do accept some of your points on many Polish girls in UK and those in the big cities of Poland (who usually come into contact with westerners, or strive to get into contact with them). So there it is, it is how they have set their mission and objective in life. A western man is a man who have money, there is a decent Polish poem on it, and I will give you that in my next post because I am in a kind of rush now.

Think about this with the logic you claim you have.

Love / In 2009 nearly 4000 Poles married a foreigner [170]

Why are there so few Polish men marrying irish women if there is such a hell of interaction?

Because Polish men do not see too much of a difference when it comes to female appeal. Polish women like to get into relationships with foreigners much more than Polish men. This is nothing new southern. It is not even uncommon since a long time back.

Polish men do find interest in Asian girls, not so much, but if they go out of the usual Polish/Ukrainian or Russians ... they do take a look as Asian girls as they are cute :).

Otherwise, if its a white girl he is to marry, whats the big difference?

For girls, its a whole lot of other things than just the visible part of a person. Ofcourse for men too, but the girls more often don't go at first with what they see, but the men do. Later for the men comes the discovery, but for the women the discovery starts with the first move, and they keep discovering till the men (only at a point that they decide to start a family and then continue to discover in a more mature process).

You will see that Polish women go out of the box much more than Polish men.

Now please don't throw the Polish and Irish are much alike argument in my face

I never did. All I said is that the interactions are too frequent, nothing else. Why don't you read what I wrote more clearly? When did I ever say that the Irish are much alike the Polish. Absolutely never I said such a thing!

The more marriages are mostly due to more interactions, as many Polish go to Ireland and then come back, or stay in Ireland. Many families have constant links with Ireland ... it is not unknown. So tell me, if a Polish girl or boy (the boy part is always neglected by you) interacts so much with another nationality, will marriages not be more common there? Is it because of being "in common" or "special looks" or "bank account"? --- I Don't Think So.

^^ Do you understand this at all?

Let's not get the racial issues involved in this, ok? The stats provided deal purely with nationality.

I never talk about such things. Again, I mentioned the other races because the statistics clearly show that Polish women are not marrying only Irish. They get married to Turks, Nigerian, Ukrainian, Egyptian ... Indians too (and Indians are very less in Poland ... I know this well as I had close interaction with some).

So NOW YOU TELL ME (the question you so conveniently have avoided), who then Polish women go for love relationships/marriages with nationalities with whom they have such outstandingly low interaction. Just a few.

Infact, the mathematics which show more Irish men is proportionately a very weak display considering the amount of INTERACTION Poles have with the Irish. This means that Polish women (or men) are not really interested whether you are Irish or you are a black or Indian or Egyptian or British ... what matters is your love for her, your manners, your attitude to life.

she's just counting Your money.

With your materialistic attitude, you chose the worst Polish woman. Yes, such worse Polish women also exist, but to them always reaches the worse men who consider easy purchase with the aide of money.

In the minds of such men are only money, so that is what they get. While the good women go to men who try to work hard and promise her an honest and fulfilling life. Not a bad thing such a life ... and there are women who would love to take that over millions of pounds.

Again - upbringing.

Why do you chose the worst upbringing of a girl? There are some who have better upbringing, but I don't think they would like to talk with you ... maybe they prefer to be invisible to you. They will not meet you, they better meet someone else of a better mind. Maybe someone who value them much more, and would like to treat her like a priceless pearl unlike others who would just take her for granted.

Ofcourse there are women who would like to be taken for granted aswell, with them you might aswell get lucky with your ULTRA THOUGHTS.

umber of UK's citizens getting pissed off at Polish chicks for getting pregnant in the UK a lot more often than they do in Poland ( Child bennies, yaaay! ). Or about British MP's that recently got mad because a Polish NGO is advocating that Polish women should go over to the UK and have abortions on UK taxpayers' dime.

Ofcourse, there are unhealthy people in England aswell, not to mention in Israel too. Nothing to do with them, why don't you just make a law which do not allow Polish people so much liberty in your country. It will be much better than nagging like this. Who CARES!

b) EU passport scams Ukraine is easily explainable :-)

This one is the most despicable allegation on some good people aswell. Yes, there are people who like to make scams, they are present in Russia, Ukraine and perhaps many other countries outside Europe too ... but it doesn't mean that the world of these countries are all about this. To just outright allege a whole nation with such a label is pure ignorance.

Midas, being ignorant will never get you anywhere.

I have a suggestion, lets just leave the topic of Polish women ... move away concentrate on something else. We just don't deserve each other. Simple.

Love / 12 years of marriage my Polish wife still doubts me [74]

in my home our whole family helps, and it makes for a nice evening for everyone.

there is a saying that if momma isnt happy, then nobodys happy :)

Mine too ... we have been trained to do this from childhood. My dad used to say that if I'm going to be lazy at home, then I'll regret. He sure was right :D.

Helping in home and all one can is a primary tool for having a good life. Otherwise why to call this a partnership? It is true that one partner extends to support one portion of life, while the other takes major share in another ... but eventually there are stuff where both can help each other too. Its a merged life ...

There are a few threads in this forums of this kind, often complaining about the "Polish wife who nags'. I think that apart from Zahi (in which he seems to be quite in love and control), the others are just not flexible enough themselves. Here the questions arises, "did they really love the girl? Or just got attracted on the date and after the first year, i.e. when the honeymoon period was over, realized that they are not capable for a family".

everytime is fight.

Where are you origionally from?

This guy to me seems like more adjusted than you. You seem to be trapped in a relationship, while he seems to be working on it. He've been successful with it for 12 long years with children man! Read through, he is looking for vacations aswell.

I think his wife loves him, and you have a way different problem. Such little inconveniences at middle or later stages of a marriage can happen I think, people need to revise and bring a fresh air. I believe for Zahi its just a matter of a vacation ... but for you it sounds sinister.

This is nothing particular with Polish woman. I've seen my mom complain with my dad, but it was for the good of us, our home, and the good for their relationship. They had a healthy relationship, and my mom pushed him sometimes for it. It is not as bad as it may sound sometimes. It is like a child not wanting to wake up in the morning, but must for the school.

For you it sounds like you are giving up ... how old is your relationship? Are you Swedish?

British 434

Irish 115

Hardly any surprises there, for a noticeable amount of Polish women in London and Britain ( same goes for Ireland or so acquaintances tell me ) getting married to a British/Irish lad equals mission accomplished, life goals achieved, Holy Grail found, etc. Make that double if he owns/rents a pad in a desirable part of a city.

In that British there are several races. Everyone calls themselves British ... British term is not what it used to be perhaps 500 years ago.

As for the Irish, I think Poles come into great many contacts with them. It doesn't depend on the population of the place, but depends on how many interaction you have with the people of that place. With Irish Poles have the highest interaction in West I think.

Look at some of the other data, there exists nations with whom we have the lowest ever interaction, so if you sit to analyze, they have the highest "success" rate (considering the amazingly low interaction). Hence, the "money greedy" agenda of yours is not so effective :).

While in my University years, there were hardly 6 to 8 Indians, and 2 to 3 Egyptians. I've seen some turks who never really came to study, and I've not seen one black with a Polish as pair. Still the statistics show results about them, which means probably in other cities.

Note that these are not the "money making machine" country for a Pole. Still you can see pairs ... so this proves you are wrong. Once again.

True that some girls are hungry just for money, but that can also be a Jewish girl, just like a Polish or any other (including British and Irish).

People are there who fall in love depending on the person's general character and attitude. Educated spouse is the best choice ... and only fools run after cash which is not going to give anything more than perhaps a car, but that also without any guarantee for longevity. Note again, there are men from Ukraine too ... not too rich a country is it?

It is turkish look.

No, I have seen turks and it is not exactly the turkish look. Its cool shadowy, white and have a pearlish smooth complexion.

Iberic peninsula where Turks were stopped.

Come on, the Turks were having either their colonies of vassal states. Some greeks are too brown to claim that its from the Turks. There must be some other hand aswell. Be fare ...

I wrote they don't look the same

Can a mix ever look the same as one of the contributor of the gene? Not at all. They look MIX, something different, a new breed. That is what I think Spaniards and Italians look mostly, also the Greek. Malta too ...

Greeks mixed with Slavs and Albanians

Turks too, also Arabs, Persians (alot) not to mention Egyptian from early history according to ancient relics found in pyramids.

I wander how they managed to reconcile that one with their islamic faith. lol.

Good question ... LOL

local boys

Infact if we reflect on Gibbon's history books (specially the Rise and Fall of Roman Empire) we will notice that all Kings, Emperors of Sultans of those times took this dirty habit.

Apart from that, Turks always considered themselves European rather than Asian. Part of them is in Europe definitely.
