UK, Ireland / What do Polish people think about Wales and Welsh people? [191]

not really as TH is a labio dental sound (eg tongue between the teeth) whereas LL is ......(thinking..) labio-alvolear...in other words your tongue goes behind your top teeth just like an L sound only you then blow air through.... altogether now..LLLLLLLLL

At last an inoffensive (and interesting!) thread!!
One of my favourites ever was a little Spanish place in the region of Murcia that I used to pass through on the bus called "Molinas Derribados" (Broken down windmills)

News / Multi-culti (in Poland) -- roadmap to disaster? [344]

Who said anything about Britain

well, by default, you...the way you whine about racism and other countries policies and attitudes, as though you come from some kind of perfect nation, is embarrassing for others who share your nationality.

News / Multi-culti (in Poland) -- roadmap to disaster? [344]

Yeah, the American attitude towards the Jewish before WW2 is exceptionally interesting - and rarely mentioned

do you think there have never been Jew/Black quotas in british schools and universities? A hell of alot more recently than pre war
Hard to get a view from your big horse I suppose.

History / Teaching our kids about Poland's History [57]

spent 2 years learning about aboriginal history which is one of the most boring cultures in the world yet we must suck up to them here in australia aka where a nanny state

yeh I always thought Australia was quite boring too....you poor child.
The only Polish history we did here in UK was watching that hilarious filmette of the Polish Cavalry charging German tanks. Now I think about it I am sure that was a cut and paste job.

Really though one can always ..y know...read up yourself on what interests you instead of whining about your school's shortcomings.
Y know??? Independent study??

Life / Child Adoption in Poland? [138]

What's wrong with adopting Polish children? Why don't Polish people in Poland go and adopt black or Chinese children?

These kind of selfish demands for international adoptions have created an industry

What are you some kind of child traffickers that you need to ask questions like this on a public forum?

Language / CELTA assignment question - the form of "It suits you" and "It fits you" [23]

steve they always do this on CELTA courses. It's like a kind of mind game to stop you getting complacent. Try not to worry too much. Try to "throw the ball" to the students as much as possible...for example if one student asks you a question don't answer it, but open it up to the class...." Does anyone else know the answer?" Just think about YOU talking less and the students talking more...use your body language (koff koff) and eye contact and students names (John???) to encourage this.

I am sure you will be OK, do not worry.

Love / My Polish girlfriend's mother called her a prostitute because we live together [113]

But can you not have respect and values being together without being married.

of course you can stinky, unless you are .......

But with time came civilization. This is the righteous and proper way to consummation ... those who do not follow are primitive

Obviously you feel the need for the state to sanction your love life with a written contract. However it's not for everyone.

Love / I need advice: divorce and my rights as a father in Poland [165]

Amathyst obviously your mate is a strong woman, and kurt's wife does sound a bit wet, but how does that give YOU the right to judge others, strangers, so harshly? We know nothing of Kurt and his wife in truth.

Have you had kids by the way? NO? Well that is obvious or you wouldn't be so unpleasant about it.

News / Failures of Poland and Tusk`s government [191]

t can be hit or miss really - I went last night to the all night doctor, no queue, and the doctor spoke English

goodness, I would have thought that with your extensive knowledge of things, superior intellect, and seemingly very long time in Poland, you would have bothered to learn the language by now. *raises eyebrows*

Love / Do Polish men like to sleep with other men? [79]

What can I tell you on this? I think you need more learning on what is what
