USA, Canada / Finding a job without work permission in the US [32]

Dumbass response. I don't care because it doesn't effect me in any way. I pay it, it goes down a black hole. I'd say that's a pretty ****** return on investment. I vote, doesn't seem to do much. I'm not taking it out on you. How exactly am I taking it out on you? How am I screwing you over?

I don't understand how Poles pay for their homes. The flat costs compared to the salaries do not mesh. They couldn't possibly pay a lot of those prices off in a lifetime of working.

And that's been my argument for a long long time. If the fundamentals don't make sense, than either something huge isn't being reported, or it's unsustainable.

Why should I care? I haven't been a resident in the USA for a long while. I am still liable to pay taxes on my worldwide income. One of the few countries that taxes non residents.

Yay.

I really could care less at this point. It would be really nice to know where the money is going in the first place, I highly doubt it is going to American citizens in my own area.

Or are you only willing to help out illegal Poles and not fellow Americans?

Anyone really. Draw some welfare, drive on the roads, send some sex trophies to school. At least I will know who the money is going to.

It is my nation. I pay taxes there. More than my share actually. This guy can live off of whatever I'm paying. I'll sponsor him with my income taxes.

It's easy to just go hit up a factory and bust 50 people at once in Juarez than to get a subpoena to pull and IP address in a foreign country which wouldn't really result in much of anything.

They've got better things to do.

It's right about the socialism in the west. Look at Royal Mail for example, it is as bad or worse as Poczta Polska has ever been.

Bwahhahahahahahahahaha.... Seriously?

Granted some are well built but most are falling apart they are ugly, badly designed and have no place in modern society.

Quite a large part of Biskupin consists of panelaks, and I like it. Lots of space, not the prettiest things, but they're painting them, adding balconies...It's not too bad.

Are you telling me you bought an apartment in something like this:

something like that :)

Most of those communist blocks arent going to last much longer.

They are rock solid. I just recently bought one in Prague with a friend, cheaper than renting.

Inner city houses will always be a wise investment in Poland.

That is the only thing I can agree with you on, but I agree 100%. Inner city old buildings and undeveloped land are great investments here.

No need to give Mexicans a worse reputation than they already have.

There are places where the majority illegal population doesn't consist of Mexicans? I have nothing against Mexicans at all, if anything I don't like the people that are exploiting them. I don't blame the people taking the sh*t jobs.

Love / How to convince English boyfriend to learn Polish? [39]

Regarding the basics, your boyfriend sounds like either an ******* or an idiot, maybe both.

Regarding the language and the culture, some people just aren't interested. He probably doesn't see any value in learning the language, and doesn't care about the culture. That's fair enough.

Despite the fact that you're a troll, I'll bite.

Poles who do this f*ck things up for everyone back at home. Why not just apply for a decent job? I'm not sure if you noticed, but Mexicans have the sh*t job market pretty much wrapped up.

Life / Polish "Mall Girl" Culture? [125]

It's not a dig at Poland, it's just observation. Like, there is more prostitution in the Czech Republic, again, just an observation.

How common is this teenagers selling sex for modern materials?
Is it sensationalism or a whole cultural phenomena?
I don't know.

That would be interesting to know. Most of the "journalism" on this has read more like political messages than actual reporting.

Life / Polish "Mall Girl" Culture? [125]

I did, I mean prostitution.

Prostitution is nowhere near as prevalent in Croatia as it is here. And the idea of a galerianki is close to absurd.

So it is what they sell their bodies for that is the issue?

No, it's the age at which they do it, and the reason for it.

Life / Polish "Mall Girl" Culture? [125]

What do you mean?

Why don't you see this type of behavior in say, Croatia. Or take our neighbors to the south, while prostitution is much more open and accepted, the phenomena of the galerianki is nowhere to be found.

The missing father just didnt exist in communist times

My girlfriend was raised in a single parent household. A neighbor also grew up without a father.

its a shame that the newer generation evidently is being raised to be something far worse than the older communist generation IMHO.

And an even better question is, why is this sort of behavior different depending on which ex communist country you're looking at.

Life / Do you think a smoking ban would be a good thing in Polish restaurants and Bars? [217]

But you posted a link to places that you can go which are completely smoke free.

I have no problem with installing ventilation. In fact, we went well past the required minimums because we don't want to drive anyone away because of the bar being smokey. I spent my own money to make my establishment appeal to as many people as possible. I think that you should come to my place and reward me for that investment. My neighbor can't afford the investment, and it's an old man bar anyway. All of his patrons smoke. He has no want, need, or desire to spend money on ventilation. He's happy because he knows his clientele, I'm happy because I know my clientele, and the place around the corner is happy because they know their clientele. Everyone is making money, neither the customers nor the owners are being forced into doing something. Isn't that how it's supposed to work?
