Glad you admit it for a change, however hard to see the points that you were trying to make about Poland's current political crisis. Things are certainly getting interesting here, but I suppose you wouldn't notice the various issues or feel the nuances from afar. When half a dozen Poles of various political persuasions right across the spectrum over the last two days mention the possibility of civil war, one wonders about the degree to which they exaggerate.

Indeed. It's in Putin's interest that America has a weak leader, which is unfortunately what it's now about to get.

And if anyone thinks that what Putin's done there hasn't happened 50 times more effectively in Poland they are deluding themselves.

Basically yes.

I wandered down to the demonstration outside the Sejm yesterday and stayed a while listening to the speeches. A lot of people there, mostly middle-aged or older. As I left, there was a steady stream of people on their way there and it really does look like the pro-democracy movement is steadily and organically growing.

The more PIS attack decency and the rule of law, the harder the backlash will be against them.

Some commentators are now describing it as a coup d'etat by PIS. It looks like the crowds in the city centre are growing and there are now armoured vehicles. A lot of people out on the streets now, if I wasn't ill in bed I'd join them.

And even Szydło is criticising Kaczynski.

A lot going on right now. Thousands of people out on the streets in Warsaw, rolling coverage on tv news media and PIS voting in parliament yesterday without a quorum and with opposition colleagues excluded!

"The police attempted in the early hours of Saturday to remove protesters by grabbing them and pulling them aside, but stopped as new protesters arrived at the scene. The police also called on protesters blocking the parliament to disperse, saying on loudspeakers that they might otherwise use force."

The article says he's 24 and has schizophrenia for up to 2 years. Symptoms of that often appear around that age so it's very likely he had no prior record.

Strange he wasn't on meds or in hospital though and had moved to the UK since he started hearing the voices.

I had a friend who lost 10 years of savings overnight due to Soros's currency manipulations in the early 90s who might disagree with that.....

Capitalism is capitalism. At least the profits in this case are used philanthropically for entirely good causes.

Agreed. Thats what the trains are for. Even the main roads will be unpleasant in very bad weather and the standard of the other drivers around is low. Poland has a very high rate of road accidents.

Trains however are cheap, comfortable and efficient, and also have traditional restaurant cars.
