That pretty much guarantees poverty in old age, and furthermore means that the woman in question is going to struggle to rejoin the labour market if the 500+ programme gets cut. You'd have to be - frankly speaking - a moron to rely on this programme instead of normal employment. PiS have a strong habit of breaking the word and then telling people that they 'misunderstood' them, after all.


Oh, it will be very easy. All it takes is a single media campaign pointing out the sheer and brutal injustice of wealthy Warsaw lawyers enjoying Michelin-starred dinners with the 500zł while showing a single mother on 1800zł/month netto getting nothing in a big city.

I don't remember what it was, but isn't there some issue with the awarding of the LTE licence that's now gone to court? Either way, the government doesn't have the money needed. And the LTE cash only covers half of the money needed for this year - next year, there's no LTE cash and yet the programme needs to be funded...

On the good side, PiS are likely to wreck finances to the point where the only solution will be a huge privatisation effort in 2019-2023. Works for me.

I really don't see what the point is in suggesting a mass protest and then not even getting yourself down to the local town hall to register the protest that you've called for.

It's not 1000/month from the second child - it's only 500. The first child gets nothing. More to the point, wouldn't it be absolutely insane to have a second child on the basis of a social policy which is well known to be financially reckless, even in the eyes of the Ministry of Finance? They would need to have three children to almost replace her wage - what would they do when the government turns round and says that the programme is getting scrapped as it hasn't achieved the desired effect?

Outside of the cities, even a couple on minimum wage are over the limit for 1 child. The programme isn't going to encourage anyone with even something resembling a brain to have a second, because it's obvious that the government is relying on the LTE cash, the bank tax and the retail tax to even cover the cost of it this year. With Morawiecki already suggesting that the government could change the programme, you'd have to be seriously stupid to have a child on the basis of this.

Ironside, what you might find interesting - in 2014, around 80 billion złoty was raised in PIT and CIT. The 500+ programme is expected to cost around 20 billion - so effectively, we could see a 25% cut in PIT/CIT with that money.

You're right, though. It would make far more sense to offer a larger tax free amount for those with children - offering 500zł extra tax free a month per child would be a far fairer programme and would encourage people to work. They could even apply it from the 2nd child onwards, just like now.

(for the benefit of our Western readers : 2401 złoty is $600 a month, 550 Euro or 432 pounds. Above that, single child families get nothing from the government.)

Furthermore, a family both working 40 hours a week for minimum wage would earn 2610zł a month. That puts them in the 'rich' category according to Goofy. Meanwhile, a wealthy couple enjoying 4 foreign holidays a year to places such as Thailand, Cuba and the Maldives while living in a million złoty plus property that have two children will receive the money. lol.

Actually, I'm involved with a project working with disadvantaged kids to try and give them at least something that lawyers, doctors, bankers and so on give their kids. As I just showed you, a one-child family earning 2401zł a month can't even afford a normal flat in a normal part of Wrocław, yet this mean government thinks that it's entirely acceptable to deny social welfare benefits to them and yet grant them to doctors, lawyers and so on.


It's still unfunded. Only one part of the three sources of income needed for 2015 is in place - the bank tax. The retail tax is in trouble, the LTE money hasn't appeared yet - and so I wouldn't expect anything to appear for several months until the government has had a chance to raid state-owned businesses to try and cover the costs.

- it costs 1800zł + 650zł a month. That's 2450zł a month. Yet according to PiS, a family with 1 child is 'rich' because they earn 2401zł a month.

I don't think it's asking for much for people from Wrocław to be able to afford a 65sqm flat with two small bedrooms.

No, Goofy. This is a programme designed to boost the demographic situation, which means that it applies to everyone equally.

PiS intend for lawyers, bankers, doctors, company directors and more to claim 500zł per month from the 2nd child onwards. PiS couldn't care less about the single child family that earn 1601zł per month.

Today was the "We, the people" march in Warsaw, organised by KOD and we have a beautiful picture to illustrate exactly how it was covered in the media. The blatant manipulation is clear to see by all.

The demonstration is estimated to have attracted around 80,000 people, which is a remarkable number.

Demonstrations have also been held/will be held throughout the USA - in New York, Washington, Seattle, Florida, Vancouver (in Canada), Sacramento, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Fortunately, it seems TVP Info later realised that they couldn't cover up the scale of the march - and here we go.
