Food / What made in Poland produce would you recommend [110]

Krakus ham from Animex company. Be careful as there are many imitations, including Western European ones!

OK, I'll be calling you genius from now on, I hope you dfon't mind.

I do, actually, as I don`t want it to spread in the forum. Why should other guys know about it? They will envy me and behave stupidly. We don`t need it - there are already too many debils here.

But, I almost forgot to finish the thought.

Did you hear that story about certain professor inventor who boiled his watch instead of an egg? One day I was so preoccupied with my thoughts that I almost did the same act.

Almost, because I was going to boil two eggs at a time and I put a watch and a clock into the water instead!!! Can you believe it???

Food / What made in Poland produce would you recommend [110]

Guys, another food recommendation.
I have tried various kinds of mayonaise.

But today I stick to one: Winiary. Why? Probably it is a little sweet and immensely sour while all other are too salty and bitter for me.

Salad

I'm glad, you're being so realistic about yourself.

I am and I can freely admit it because it is another sign of genius. All geniuses in history have been absent minded.

Life / Polish vs British vs American - Clash of cultures [390]

battered by the Poles who who came to the UK only to make a beeline for the dole office and hang around street corners.

You must be joking, jon. I can hardly believe it. It is not Poles, it is certain minorities which lived in Poland but prefered to move to Britain and today they pretend Polish. Simple.

Food / What made in Poland produce would you recommend [110]

I'm not attacking you Pawian, I'm trying to help you to understand that produce and product are two different things, that's all.

I never thought of you attacking me. Where is this crazy idea from? :):):)

I know about produce and product difference.
However, you must understand that my mind rushes like a rocket. I commence things with one idea in mind and in the process of realisation, I switch to another. I started the thread with produce in the title, thinking of food only, but a minute later I decided to widen the perspective onto all products made in Poland.

However, I am absent minded, too, so I clicked to post without correcting the title.

Simple. Are you satisfied? :):):):):)

Thank you for your help, anyway. I appreciate it.

All products means you can also buy a nice train engine, tram or railcar from PESA company.

The company is the third largest employer in Bydgoszcz.

Off-Topic / Loading a photo of Poland from your mobile/cell phone takes 30 seconds, come on! [86]

Not quite Poland, more like Polishness in Salford really ;)

Also should do. I won`t report you. :):):):)

photos of Polish shops and/or businesses which cater to Poles round here.

Interesting. As a kid, whenever I watched a film about Poles in America/UK, I always considered it extremely funny to see those Polish shops.

I think it's probably more not feeling the difference between "should" and "must" ;)

No, they knew the meaning of both.

I was actually explaining this to someone the other day, that "must" should only be used when it is absolutely required without dissent - for instance, you must not enter a military training ground.

Yes! My adult learners used "must" being fully aware it suggest an absolute requirement! :):):) When I started laughing and explained why, they claimed that learning languages is a must and they tell it to their children every day. :):):):)

Travel / Photo tales from Krakow, Poland [10]

There is a place in Krakow where a plane crashed many years ago. Luckily, no one was hurt as both crew and passengers managed to leap out in time.

Today, the site is commemorated with this wing which was left sticking out of the ground after the crash.

Warning! it isn`t another thread about Polish beautiful women/handsome men.
Let`s talk about products.

Food is the dearest to my heart so let me start with it.

I recommend you these pickled noble mushrooms from Rolnik company:

Excellent value for money.

I buy them in Carrefour.

Piece of advice - pick jars with smaller mushrooms.

Life / Did you already bless your Święconka? [31]

Wow! Do these foreign święconkas differ from Polish ones? I mean, do they adopt it but also add their own national traditions into it? E.g., do Italian take wine to church?

Off-Topic / Rotten West vs. Innocent Poland [25]

It is not a big problem. Have a look at the Spanish site and I am sure you will be able to understand a lot, because you are an intelligent person.

The news appeared also on many Polish sites:
The Spanish Ministry of Education recommends that teachers of civic education peculiar scientific assistance . In teaching students tolerance for diversity is to help comic " Ali Baba and the 40 pedal " - writes " Rzeczpospolita" .

The official website of the ministry , the guide devoted to education in respect for the values , you can find a set of readings and films that have not only protect young Spaniards of homophobia , but also teach them to enjoy their safe sex with friends of the same sex - writes the daily .

jon357: bet it's happened in Poland too..

Delph, we need a link. Sorry, word of mouth is not enough. :):):)

low land Poles, which are the vast majority hate highlanders that's why in Chicago they choose to live far away from them.

You are wrong. Everybody in Poland admires us, highlanders, for our high culture and traditions.

Sorry but you should visit Poland more often to keep in better touch with local preferences.

Off-Topic / Rotten West vs. Innocent Poland [25]

):):):) Teachers should possess even higher morale than priests/pastors.

From Barney`s link:
PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
All teachers are considered to be in a position of trust with regard to their pupils
Under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, the abuse of a position of trust is a criminal offence
The age of consent for sexual intercourse is ordinarily 16, but this does not apply under this Act
Instead, a person over the age of 18, who is in a position of trust over a person under 18, commits a criminal offence if they involve the younger person in sexual activity

When using social media like Facebook, teachers are advised not to blur the boundaries between the professional and the personal, for example, they should not give their pupils friend status
