News / Officials in Poland are hailing an upcoming visit by Donald Trump [720]

Austria Hungary czechy Slovakia are all taking a very similar approach to migrants as poland. This is seen as defiance to eu and their relocation plan. As far as where a country gets its gas, well Russia is cheapest and oftentimes countries have to look for the lowest dollar deal than pay way more for hopes of more political and military help. That's why poland may start to buy more us gas.

Furthermore of course allies have disagreements. Nonetheless poland remains united with the visegard 4 allies...

He mentioned God free speech questioning everything overcoming obstacles always remembering your identity and family values as well. I liked the speech he's been getting better at giving speeches.

Life / Polish people and racism. [943]

Some of the white jihadis are the craziest namely the converted ones from us australia Canada etc... So There's a few right there that don't fit that pattern

For native born or migrant yes... Many migrants that came recently due to sheer number alone have committed terrorist attacks esp from tunisia or people planning attacks once Syria got too hot for them and they came to Europe

Work / Career in Poland - working in finance / investment banking / venture capital / private equity [19]

@cms

Oh believe me I know I've travelled around Europe including Switzerland specifically Zurich but nothing else really : / its very expensive too in London Paris Moscow Chicago NYC tokyo..

The average pay for a top 10% mba in us is typically the same roughly 140k plus starting salary but there are many people who earn 200k even 300k plus finance, consulting, the highest earners tend to be Stanford grads

Law / Polish inheritance - court ruling and delay - the only child [18]

I had a huge issue with a property in poland too and the lawyer charged me something like 2k usd for the entire case start to finish. It was different than yours but just as complicated if not more so because I had to track a few people down. The private detective I also hired actually cost a bit more but his credentials and ties with police made it well worth it.

Its a bit of a generalization maf but yeah I do agree with much of what you say.

Law / Help with Postal Customs office in Poland. I need to get an item that is being withheld there. Rolex imitation [30]

@delphiandomine

From what I've heard, Again hearsay not 100% sure, is the if you order a large amount of items that need to be shipped in a crate or like a car there are three officials that inspect each one. One guy holds a camera recording everything and two guys go throughb everything checking for contraband and making sure that all documents check out, that tax is paid etc.

Poland doesn't mess around with their vat or tax collection in general. Its not worth trying to scam rhebsystem because you'll probably get caught and pay a huge fine.

I wonder though if say a person did go to court paid all their fines and everything is they'd get the item back. In this case its a counterfeit so probably not but I wonder if say it was a normal legit consumer item

Law / Help with Postal Customs office in Poland. I need to get an item that is being withheld there. Rolex imitation [30]

Well the law is different here and not very enforced. If a cop wanted to he could go into any mall and technically shut down all the Chinese women hawking bogus purses. As society we give the police and courts power to determine which laws to enforce and what their pubishments should be. For example while marijuana remains a schedule I federally most city cops won't even confiscate your weed if say you get pulled over and you're not openly smoking it. In the case of counterfeits only medicines are scrutinized. Unfortunately now the Chinese have wised up and started pushing cheap synethic drugs to corner the market that mimic the different street drugs. That's a big problem here all over from rich areas to rhe poorest because many people young and old are winding up in ers and some even die.

Like I said I don't buy nor sell counterfeits. Im fortunate enough to have a good job and education so I can afford certain luxuries in life. However most people aren't so I'm not going to criticise the Mexican lady at McDonald's for buying a knock off lv if it makes her happy.

Ah my apologies I didn't know there would be such a tax. I have property too in poland and all I've ever paid is the low property taxes. I guess in the op case itd be different if she's inherited it but hasn't been on the paperwork formally.

@NoToForeigners

No I don't buy or sell counterfeits. I am a collector of watches so i buy the real thing. If you ask most collectors traders art dealers etc they care little about counterfeits as its a totally separate market from the legit one and actually oftentimes larger.

Nonetheless I don't care if people do. Thats their business. Everyone has to eat and id rather some broke Mexican or Nigerian sewing lv purses in their basement to make $50 a day than a corp selling a purse for 2000% plus more than materials and labor cost, oftentimes with the exact same quality as the stores. Here imitations replicas etc are gray market. They're openly sold in malls shops everywhere and no one cares.

To me a person buying or selling a fake chanel is no different than the starving artist who bought or paints a van Gogh imitation. Now if he tries to pass it off at sothebys as original its an issue. However most consumers are keenly aware if they're buying the real or fake thing.

Fyi Chinese counterfeit electronics tend to be lower quality than Samsung apple etc.

Study / International business master degree - which Poland's university should I study? [5]

So true... If you can't prove that you brought in a significant revenue stream' were part of some successful project in a meaningful way, forget it.

I majored in international business in marketing at the bachelor level and am planning to start my mba soon. I work in b2b corporate sales. That's about the only time ib has even midly helped because I work with many people all over the world but most my customer base is US. Imo its not a good major - too soft skill and too general. Id think even management is a better bet than ib.

Financial mathematics is hot. If I were more of a quant guy I would ve definitely chose that. But I prefer smiling shaking hands and getting people to believe that they have a problem and giving me money is the solution.

@terri

Property taxes are peanuts in poland. The lady could even offer to pay the taxes for the other party to speed up the process.

Unfortunately in poland, money speeds up and resolves almost any bureaucratic legal process like this.

Law / Help with Postal Customs office in Poland. I need to get an item that is being withheld there. Rolex imitation [30]

Lol the fact that even the post office knew it was a Rolex proves tho it must have been a really really crappy counterfeit. The best Rolex counterfeits cost thousands are made of 18k depending on model and have a perfect automatic movement. Very difficult for even a jeweler or even collector to tell apart... Although there is one trick with the bezel to tell rotating bezel fakes apart from real ones.

So glad we have something here called the 4th amendment. No opening of us domestic mail here without a warrant : )

If you bought a Hong Kong Rolex and the post office is tying up (are you sure its post office and not customs) give it up.. Chances are you bought the cheapest kind of Rolex (the same kind passed off in Jamaica and Mexico for $10 at most) since its from hk and I'm willing to bet its a Chinese movement..

And now you're in trouble.. Are you a pl or eu citizen?

The court will probably just give you a fine. I would argue you didn't know it was a fake. If you did they can charge you with importation of countefeits, dodging taxes and all sorts of ****. Say you're sorry you wanted a gift for you dad (if in fact its one watch and no 100) and you didn't know it was fame

If you want any info on watches and jewelry pm me as I am a collector and have a lot of knowledge on this topic.

I don't hate or dislike Muslims.. I hate anyone that kills innocent people especially my European brethren. At the moment the vast majority of those who are killing my European brethren - blowing them up and mowing them down either w aks or cars - are Muslims though.

Sgh imo is much better. Its where a lot of the prominent people in pl went and where their kids go.idk about the other one as much but its good too. Sgh has two programs for mba. One is in polish one is in English. A lot of unis do joint programs in poland and Europe in general. Even tho the lessons are at sgh campus in warsaw the degree you receive upon completion is actually from university of montreal. You can check out their website for more info and pricing.

Unless you plan to work in poland for good you'll be fine with an sgh degree. I don't know how univ of montreal would be viewed. The top schools in Europe that are recognized internationally are places like insead oxford lse Erasmus and a few others. Us mbas with aacsb accreditation will be respected internationally too n those good eu schools have it as well.

Most polish people argue otherwise and so do plenty of other nationalities that are coming in droves.

There's more Porsche suvs in downtown wroclaw that even around the average us city

News / Adam Michnik awarded for integrity, professionalism and high standards. Poland's No. 1 fascist? [321]

@jon357
@delphiandomine

Also yes Jon the truth does matter to me that's why I said you were right but as you'll see it didn't say anything on the English wiki hence it was an honest mistake. Unlike many posters I look at both perspectives of an issue. Like I said I respect michnik accomplishments but I do not like him for the reasons I wrote - mostly two things : the whitewashing of martial law cronies and his backstabbing of walesa only to support him again when convienent. The fact that his brother killed ak hero's, true polish hero's as michnik would never in his life pick up a gun and fight for poland, also irks me as michnik should have acknowledged the eu wide arrest warrant.

News / Adam Michnik awarded for integrity, professionalism and high standards. Poland's No. 1 fascist? [321]

@jon357

I don't know how many times I can say this.. Reading wyborcza and liking adam michnik are two different things. You can like elon musk, as I do bc he has some great ideas, but hate his tesla cars because imo they're ugly inside and vice versa. You can hate the Wal-Mart family for being greedy ******** but still get your stuff there bc its so cheap. Same thing with wyborcza its the most popular paper because it was basically the first post prl one that was established. Just because someone reads the sports section or business in wyborcza doesn't automatically mean they like michnik. I read wyborcza on occasion too and most the articles are decent but oftentimes they hypocritically criticise poland and pis policies when Israel has the same type of policies especially when it comes to accepting Muslim migrants.

The majority of the prl generation by far don't like communists especially those responsible for stan wojenny which michnik whitewashes. Go and ask 10 random poles that are over 50 - I guarantee the majority will view michnik a commie traitor to poland if they know who he is. I actually did ask several people in wroclaw about their opinions on trump po pis michnik merkel etc to get their perspective on such topics. Honestly I can only recall one person - a young guy around 18 19 - that liked michnik.

I did look on the English wiki and don't see michniks name for that white eagle order or any other polish awards. However it appears you're right he was awarded it.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Michnik

Unfortunately we don't really have any surveys on how poles view michnik, again michnik the person not any of his publications. However I am pretty confident over half of poles don't like him - esp the prl ones who are familiar with who he is dont like him because poles are staunchly anti commie and dont like people who stand up for jaruzelski or who's brother killed ak members. They might read wyborcza as I do, but dislike michnik as a person like I do as well. Not to mention the catholic ones, the religion that most poles identify with (whether they go to church every Sunday is a different story - nonetheless that's by far the most popular religion in pl) which he overly criticised and some say even insulted. Same thing with polish partiots as he lambasts poland pis etc nonstop but yet is silent on criticising israel po etc. While he's pretty open minded and objective on most topics he is very biased and one sided when it comes to select topics like Israel, poland, migrant policies, etc.

So when you add up poles who don't like commies and people who defend commie crimes, poles who don't like the Roman Catholic church being insulted and dont like poland to be insulted you get a pretty high percent. Assuming that most poles know who he is they won't like him either. It would be interesting to do a survey though in poland on this question.

News / Officials in Poland are hailing an upcoming visit by Donald Trump [720]

According to sources close to trump, namely mcmaster, he will praise poland for its bravery, courage, and say that other European nations ought to take inspiration from poland.

Again just what I read online take it for what you will.

The fact though that trump is visiting Warsaw before Germany and France is a big snub though. Leaders in the eu feel trumps visit will embolden Poland's leaders even more.

@delphiandomine
The bombing of Serbia destroyed us Russian relations. After the fall of communism and further exposure to the west, Russians of all walks of life were fascinated with the us including yeltsin. They loved American style culture freedom etc. Even the politicians sought better ties with us since the cold war was over. However when us bombed Serbia all that changed in an instant. Russians completely reversed their views. They felt the us could bomb them too if they step out of line. And so the 2nd pseudo cold war began.

Apparently at one point putin wanted Russia to join NATO but they didnt take him seriously.

News / Adam Michnik awarded for integrity, professionalism and high standards. Poland's No. 1 fascist? [321]

@jon357

I never disagreed with the success or popularity of his papers. Hell I read wyborcza sometimes but that doesn't mean one has to approve of michnik. Wyborcza was around before pis even formed as a party. The fact is he's a commie whitewashing cfr zionist who will either suck up to his colleaguess or backstab them, depending on what's convenient at the time, like he did with walesa for example. Surprisingly he never backstabbed kuron or gross though. Neither will he ever criticise his brother or call for his extradition (he has a Europe wide arrest warrant) for sentencing the most patriotic poles to death. Although I don't expect an internationalist cfr zionist to have much patriotism for his home country. Israel where his dad lives on the other hand... Oh no critism is totally off limits. And the reason why he jailed in the 60s wasn't because he was anti-communist far from it. He advocated revisionist Marxism and Zionism- that's why he was jailed. The 2nd time around it was for helping stage strikes with solidarnosc which irked the commies since they were negotiating already in the 80s eventually leading to a power sharing agreement.

And no he as a person is not very celebrated in poland - that's why not a single of his 2 dozen or so awards came from poland. He's too polarizing for some school to give him an honorary degree or an institution to award him an order medal. Even po didn't award him any order medals when they were in power bc they understood how polarizing of a figure he is and they didn't want negative repercussions.

Very few people in poland laud Stalinists and protectors of communists like jaruzelski - esp if you or your family lived under martial law. Supporting a guy who tries to defend martial law is like a deadly sin. Poland is trying to do everything to forget about its commie past going as far to rename streets and destroy statues and whatnot - not whitewash it or celebrate it. Even if someone likes michnik jaruzelski kiszczak and that whole clique they won't openly admit it for fear of being criticised by every prl generation in their family, unless they were all party guys and actually believed the ideology.

If you lived in stan wojenny or your parents/grandparents did you'd probably have a different opinion of someone that protects the top criminals of that era and protects an AK slaughtering family member.
