Basically yes. Angela Merkel obviously needs far greater security than a less important politician here since the risks are greater - just as the American president has much more security than the Portuguese president however I would not trust a .ru site to provide balanced news.

That's an interesting point. It always saddens me to see that a significant chunk of anti-immigrant sentiment comes from areas where immigration has been relatively small.

We see that here in Poland too - a friend of mine who is anti-immigration lives in a district with barely a dark face.

That's happening anyway, organically and nothing to do with the presence of other established religions.

The people who didn't vote didn't care enough to get off their backsides and cast a vote.

Not all had a vote, and some of those who voted the wrong way did so as a protest. Turkeys voting for Christmas, especially in areas that financially depend on EU membership. Foreign influence on voting, especially though not only via Cambridge Analytics, is only just beginning to be examined.

In Britain it has worked very well. No ifs, no buts

Things there are for the most part very harmonious - immigration is and (since it is likely to continue) will be a success

Poland relies heavily on their contributions to the EU budget.

And very high approval ratings for membership

Except Poland has one of the EU's most liberal immigration policies

And it works very nicely indeed.

I've seen too many businesses here set up on the basis of someone's dream of the type of business they'd like to run, rather than the type of product that theres a market for. There used to be a tv show on Sundays for budding entrepreneurs that gave coatings, had interviews etc. Great to watch, not so great when you've got an identical grocery store to ten others on the same street, none of them making money.

the weekly flights from the UK to Warsaw certainly tell us a thing or two about the people that moved to the UK.

The authorities in Poland tend to pick people up (Polish citizens or immigrants, regardless of colour or ethnicity - Polish law does not discriminate) on the way back in.

And what is your contribution to Poland, pray tell?

A round number. A very round one indeed.

Each case is different. Anyone who has submitted residence or citizenship documents (or operated a business) that could potentially suggest their "centre of interest" is in Poland is potentially at risk from the tax office, from ZUS and not only.

One British guy (on another forum) got a personal visit from the tax office here due to a ten pound premium bond win from several years before. The tax office is increasingly chasing people with incomes and assets abroad - hell, I even do translations for them sometimes; they're sharp about this and getting better about what they do.

They are almost all clip joints, especially in Eastern Europe. Avoid.

such as the one on Gwarna in Pozna

That might be a better choice. I knew that place a decade before they got strippers in. Still risky for an obvious tourist.

Pretty well. Basically the only person who had to be fired ever and it was sad to have to do it for the first time. The rest is just stuff he's either half understood or just made up. Regarding any advance - well frankly he flatters himself. As for Mike Mills, although he's quite a character, the quality of teaching at that school is still superb.

It is a gentlemen's club

Actually a strip place, run (as these places always are) by seriously dodgy people and operating in a legal grey area. There are several of them, all on the same street with people trying to tempt passers-by to enter. There are warnings elsewhere on this site from tourists who've been robbed such 'bars'.

not so overcrowded

Probably because a. the money they take from one unfortunate (and usually drunk) visitor is so much that they can turn a profit while almost empty and b. locals know to avoid such places.

Sooner or later all these places will be closed down - on the street in question, all the reputable businesses are lobbying for that.
