History / Polish 304 SQUADRON IN THE RAF IN WW2 - Davidstow in Cornwall [16]

he's not moaning or complaining or even playing a victim card, he is recognizing something positive about the polish history, the pilots that i was talking about in the other thread. He is thanking the brave Poles who flew with the R.A.F an exact example i was giving about positive history and it took a Brit to deliver it :)

We also owe them an apology for the disgraceful way they were treated by our politicians at the end of the war.

Hay mate, don't feel so bad, Winston Churchill warned the Allies about what Stalin was planning, its not our fault they didn't listen

I am an Englishman who feels that we owe a great debt of honour to the Poles who fought,

i agree

I am interested in 304 (Slaski) Squadron whose very first loss was a Wellington Bomber which crashed near my home village in December 1940 and has therefore become an important piece of our local history.

wow they were using wellingtons in 1940, i thought they were replaced by the Lancaster bomber or was it the Hamptons?????

UK, Ireland / Polish immigration in UK [491]

you're saying that the asylum seeker gets the 'package' , a 3 bedroom apartment in a new council housing estate, a flash european car and higher allowance per fortnight than a British old age pensioner ? who probably owns heir own house, has other assets, has a few cars etc etc

yeah probably, thats rubbish, today they usually can't afford to keep the heating on on the winter and afford their council tax so they end up in prison!!!!!! The pension in the UK is terrible if it even exists anymore. I think you can say that asylum seekers get more than the pensioners of the UK but thats not saying much. Alhtough i did hear about the new 50inch tv's in the asylum hostels, what a joke!!!!

There is so much povo people and poverty stricken countries around the world, the amount of people let in to EU countries is reallly..... hardly anything when you compare it to the billions(literrally) of starving , dirt-poor people in the 3rd world.

poor is poor, there are poor people in the UK, what i think you miss is that there is different levels of being 'poor'. Of course the 3rd world is going to be different from developed or developing nations, thats why they are called 3rd world :):)

I do not think the governments of EU countries would suddenly want to sponsor those poor people that they usually make money off of their countries by dirty money from things such as mining in africa , and the oil all around the globe etc etc

I do not think the governments of EU countries would suddenly want to sponsor those poor people that they usually make money off of their countries by dirty money from things such as mining in africa , and the oil all around the globe etc etc

thank god for that, most of the money given to Africa filters its way into of shore bank accounts and into the pockets of the leaders of the nations. Its amazing all the billions that has been pumped into africa over the years and yet, where is the progress???? hasn't the world realised that the money is not hitting the mark, aiding those who need it but instead being distributed amongst the rich dictators of africa.

p.s. nothing like a good old debate. Thank goodness this sort of thing has come back to the top of the pile, i was beginning to wonder what had happend to PF's debating crew

The german language rocks!

your kidding right, i've never heard a worse spoken language, so serious, so offical and army like 100% of the time, sounds like you have to stand up straight lift your head up high just to speak a few words. Gerry needs to relax a bit more and take it easy, maybe find a sense of humour too :)

while its probably ture mate, its still no excuse, as i said i'm all up for defending the english and seeing 'anti-english' posts. Its a free forum right, however what i don't like is hypocrites and double standards of which you see a lot on this particular forum :)

hhhhmmm i'm not suprised by this, another go at the English (British) thats fine as long as people don't start crying when something anti-polish comes up in the future. How many times do you see it on here, the double standards, its ok to slander everything on this forum, ow actually, that is apart from the polish or poland, then its a crime.:):):)

UK, Ireland / I have concerns over the British immigration policy so I wrote to my MP. [126]

Since that’s the case maybe admin should think about opening a sub forum for Brits disappointed with their countries immigration policy. Seems to be quite a popular topic on polishforums.

yeah maybe but i don't think it would really be a good addition, if people want to write about it then they will, however if it replaces the singles section then i would be fully in support of it

racism

what a silly response, a person tries to formally make a point and is still no matter what accussed of being a racist, probably because he is white, which in a strange way could also be viewed as racist :)

lol! We get that a lot. Most of my father`s side of the family is blond or orange and both my brother and sister were born with extremely blond hair. Then I came along with the dark hair and my mom got teased a lot by the family that she...

lol, you got the joke then, especially if you've experienced it in your family yourself :)

Whats even funnier is that his gf is such a tomboy :) :)

really, lol, so there is no token blonde on his arm :):):)

lol! Seanus, you`re thinking of lube. The e at the end of it makes all the difference in the world :)

well its better for us guys to think of lube than lub, i hiope you understand that :)

hay thats nice to hear, but if you've both naturally got different coloured hair, then who is the daughter of the milkman, lol, thats the saying in the UK, its a joke of course :)

About the 'pretty' in the family, the funny thing is that my brother is the one that constantly gets approached for modeling lol! Its hilarious because he thinks he's such a manly man so he finds it insulting :). I love teasing him about being the next Zoolander.

hahaha, manly man but looks like a pretty boy you mean, i have a friend who is exactly like your brother, thinks he's a real man but looks like he should be fronting a boy band

If we throw in other ethnicity based prejudices your country has a bigger problem than Poland:

uuuhhhh since when have i said there is not a problem in the UK?????? please tell me mate because i can't remember saying it, you see this is the thing, instead of addressing or even admiting your country has a problem you like to poke a stick into our problem :)

no we ae not the only nations with a racism issue, there is racism all around the world

Life / Polish people and racism. [943]

I didn't know Poles considered it a problem ;)

whether Poles consider it a problem or not, it exists, thats like saying there was a holocaust, but because the Germans didn't find it a problem it didn't exist, hhhhmmm i don't think so :)

Poland has small clusters or pockets of foreigners.

exactly its like having the Welsh, Irish or Scottish in England there isn't really that much difference.

I understand what you are saying, however..... My PARENTS taught me otherwise.

yes i see your point here

I am afraid if your parents did not contribute to your upbringing with an open mind, you have to do it on your own.

i also see your point here, your correct ignorance is linked closely with stupidity however ignorance is not always down to stupidity, if you haven't seen a wasp you would ask 'what is that mum??' she would say 'ow its a wasp' you would remember that and store it for future reference, in that instance you are ignorant to the fact its a wasp but does it mean your stupid?? no its just part of your learning process when you grow up.

While on the whole i agree with the points you have made i cannot put it fully down to supidity, there are a number of clever racists in the world, there not all stupid and dumb, what accounts for their ignorance??

Life / Polish people and racism. [943]

Maybe so, maybe in Poland, but only to a certain extent. The rest, I'm afraid, is pure ignorance.

i accept what you say however, isn't part of the 'ignorance' do to the fact that the 'homogenous population has not been exposed to the different races, religions and cultures, so of course it is down to ignorance :) The two walk hand in hand, if you've lived with white, blonde haired and blue eyed males for all of your life, what are you going to know about a woman who is black with brown eyes and brown hair :). If you've never seen this woman or anything like her in your life before you are automatically going to be interested or defensive, maybe both at the same time.

Can we call PLC a homogenous country?

you can call poland a homogenous country, yes, as of the last census 96% claimed they were polish nationals, now if thats not homogenous i don't know what is :)

From my experience, there's plenty of racism in Poland.

somebody who is realistic, finally :)

But sadly, there's not enough of them.

thats part of my point

Life / Polish people and racism. [943]

I think its fair to say that where ever there is a homeogenous population, the minute another culture, race or religion is imposed on that nation that there will be a certain level of rejection or anti whatever that race, religion or culture is. I'm not saying its an excuse but i think you can see what i mean.

When ever something changes there will always be a reaction as change is not a natural human process, whether your talking about a whole nation and change or a simple business changing its culture, People do not deal with it well. There are many factors that people are scared about when it comes to change, i'm not going to go into them as it would take a very long time to explain and would bore everybody. Racism is just one of the reactions, to a change, which in this case could be a previous homeogenous nation becoming multi-cultural.

Thnx
