History / Study Shows Irish Voters Rejected the Nice Treaty Referendum Due to Poland's Entry Into the EU [80]

Although I don't believe the Irish have any reputation for cowardice, quite the opposite. You're

Many examples of bravery throught the years, and many who served in the UK forces during the war.

Looks like geography is not your strong point..... :-)

This from someone who seems to think America is as close to Ireland as France is to Britain.

Travel / Poland in photo riddles [3134]

The same. North Derbyshire was only a short drive away. The Tideswell one was I think one of the biggest.

The celebrations during May in some Polish villages have a bit in common with Well Dressing.

History / Was it possible to be a dual Polish citizen in the 1930s? [8]

July 9, 1925,

Quite a few changes since then. New ustawy, new okulniki and...... a new constitution. Are you continuing to suggest that Lech Wałęsa is still the rightful president of PL, or have you given up on that one?

or if a person chooses to live in the Third Republic, it could go to the European Court of Human Rights

Yet it hasn't, has it Chris....

People like that tend to thrive on the fact that most posters don't know any more about the topics under discussion then they do

Whereas in reality, most contributing to the thread know rather more and some have direct experience of the situation.

I love the way you write like an entitled teenager.

The rhetorical style owes a lot to South Park's Cartman character. It reminds me of a fat bloke from the Socialist Workers' Party who I once listened to; drivel dressed up in weak rhetoric.

Law / CRB checks in Poland? [26]

Harry can't reply, sadly, however what you need is a Certifykat Niekaralnosci from the police station. Having said that, if you're a citizen of an EU/EEA country any offences for which you've been convicted in PL will show up on the records in the U.K.

hamsa

Means "five" in Arabic. Because of the shape of the character it sometimes has a rather rude association too!

History / Poland's society at communism and socialism time [55]

Those are all due to the nation state*

Yeah, 'cos the rich and powerful of every 'nation state' just handed their dosh over to spend on the ordinary folks out of the goodness of their hearts...

The Trade Unions, the parliamentary Socialists, the activists, the protesters, the Co-op movement and the marchers didn't need to do anything at all, just sit back and thank the rich for their generosity. Nothing to see here folks, no struggles at all.

The Irish did not originally

What matters is how they finally voted and the actual effect of that. Nothing else.

Polish media adn politicians didn`t make a fuss about the first rejection because they knew it had nothing to do with Poland.

Same here. I remember some 'hearts and minds' lobbying by Polish politicians and others. It worked, and relations between Poland and Ireland (and their relations with our EU) are strong.

History / Poland's society at communism and socialism time [55]

It's been one of the biggest successes of the last 200 years. Universal franchise, public healthcare, free education, safety at work, workers' right, racial equality, women's rights, LGT equality and social housing.

If anything else were true, the right-wing would be smiling rather than constantly whinging about Socialism.
