News / Can Russia be a good partner for Poland? [42]

Internal freedom :)

That would be schizophrenic... Poland would NEVER look to Russia for a sense of freedom... it just doesn't make sense. Them wounds are still too fresh and Poland is commanding quite a place in the EU for the time being.

Maybe but then again if Russia change approach ? Would that be possible ?

Um, anything is possible, but in this case it's highly improbable. Russia spits on mighty superpowers let alone previous soviet satellites...

In our lifetimes this will never happen... and a history of failure and ruin has created a bitter tension at best between these two countries.

Work / Student considering a move to Poland; prospects of employment? [5]

Alls I can say is hold your head up and march into your new life whatever it is you want to do. Hey, you're young, resilient, adept, and determined.

Poles are sceptical, but if you can project optimism, it may work in your favour, but society in Poland is different generally and there are a lot of educated, clever people there looking for a better day. However the economy is still in gestation so if you have something bright to offer, go out there like a light and be a beacon to other young people who want to contribute something positive.

Really, the future is yours... you own it. Go out on a limb and Good luck!

Love / I treat my Polish colleague like I would treat my older sister, Confused [9]

No worries dude... maybe I'm the sisterly type...?

I live in Sydney too, so it's not such a stretch of the imagination to say that I might know where you're coming from...?

But I do understand the Polish mentality quite well too, so, I think I have a good idea where you're coming from culturally... But hey, she's here to learn about us and what we do, so don't be afraid to show her a thing or too aswell.

Best of luck Bro. :))

News / Can Russia be a good partner for Poland? [42]

They could gain secure control of the eastern Europe. Question - are they able to go against 300 years of diplomatic tradition ?

Ok, so what would Poland gain from it...? It would be a relationship based on fear and ransom as no doubt it would make Poland more dependent on Russia's resources... the ultimate foundation for any diplomatic engagement. Diplomacy is only the staple of interdependent relationships.

What do you guys think about France selling two warships to Russia?

Two more reasons not to f*ck with Russia?

Love / I treat my Polish colleague like I would treat my older sister, Confused [9]

She may need you as much as you need her. In as much as she is strong and needs to exert that guardianship over another.

Does she have younger siblings? Or is she on her own in your country? She may be in a position where she has to focus strongly on what's going on in her own life and is therefore in a position to be a strong directional force in others lives...

Just ask her. She's six years older but you have been brought together for whatever reason...

I also made great friends with a guy 6 years younger than me when I was abroad, and found that he became very much like a younger brother - I wanted to protect him and be there for him to talk to and he was great fun to be around. We are still like siblings even though I have moved away, but that bond will never be broken because it's based on profound trust.

I guess what I'm saying is don't question genuine feelings too much.

News / Can Russia be a good partner for Poland? [42]

I would need examples of Russia behaving diplomatically to believe that can work...

They still believe they are the Titans... and I believe that would be the nature of any relationship with a smaller economic might like Poland. What would Russia gain from such genuinely diplomatic ties?

Polonia / MOVING MY STUFF TO MOSCOW and a Harley motorcycle ...any ideas? [58]

I asked her on how she feels ... and she replied about how she will give her best, and how she trusts me. I know my part of the responsibility too, and she ofcourse my highest priority now. But she is there to give it her best effort and knows how much I love my own place. She is adjusting very well, and my family already loves her and are great friends with her

It sounds as though you have communication which is good, and are considerate to her - appreciating that every day for her is still new. You're not arrogant, and you find new ways to treasure your wife constantly (because you are a grateful man) so I can see a very long and happy union. Well done! (Respect) :)

And often you are either killed or viciously attacked. Many Bikers here are thugs, or at least they're the ones that make the news...

Not to detract from your seemingly peaceful tribe... sounds good. At least you've got a non-aggressive philosophy, though how you would carry that out if you were targetted is the question. Though I'd imagine Poland having quite a different Bikie sub-culture. :)

Polonia / MOVING MY STUFF TO MOSCOW and a Harley motorcycle ...any ideas? [58]

Oh , you asked me how far it is...? From my farm in Poland to Moscow , its about 1000 miles...

Oh, not far then? ;)

The wooden house is within the Moscow ring road ( Malachovka ) and its occupied all the time by my girlfriends daughter...

Your treasures wont put her in jeopardy I hope? ;)

I see you are in Moscow also...is the Moscow beer any good..? A Russian guy living in Moscow tells me its not , i can,t ask my girlfriend , she does not drink..

Uh oh, this could change the contents of the load quite considerably! ;P

Lodz the boat...yes it would save a lot of transport costs to dump everything and travel light , but all the stuff i am taking is stuff i really need over there....

Yeah, unless you are evacuating in a flood or something it's always nice to have a steady move with a well considered plan of what to take...

Though in that case it would be alright for you Lodz, cause you'd have a boat to carry things. ;P

Polonia / MOVING MY STUFF TO MOSCOW and a Harley motorcycle ...any ideas? [58]

Yeah it sounds like the solution is a combination of a convoy and a massive clean out...?
But if you want to keep your second 4WD you'll need to get it fixed anyway.

You sound like a charitable guy, will there be need for all your country squire belongings when living in the megalopolis that is Moscow? Are we talking family heirlooms, lawnmowers, or stuff you need for business?

How did you get it all from the UK in the first place?

Funny how we accumulate stuff... Just don't let it bog you down... You'll have your woman's stuff to contend with soon. ;)

Polonia / MOVING MY STUFF TO MOSCOW and a Harley motorcycle ...any ideas? [58]

I managed to ship four boxes from the UK back here for only £200, so I doubt cost is the issue for you...?

Is that wooden house good for storage?

Can you get a trailer on your bike, or Jeep?

Is there anyone else you know in PL with a Jeep and possibly trailer who would do the journey with you for a small cost? (plus free accomodation in Moscow)

Then just leave the rest in the loft of your current house for later pick up... I had stuff all around the world at one point...

How far is this journey anyhoo?

Australia / HOW DO I MOVE FROM AUSTRALIA TO POLAND PERMANENTLY? PARENTS BOTH FROM POLAND [26]

Some one please help me, what do i need to do to gain polish residency permanently?

Having a bad day???

You can either pursue the paternal ties avenue, although that depends on the year you were born. Or go over as an Australian, see if you like it, see what kind of job you can get, and then hope that some bloke will marry you. ;)

Stick around here, you might get lucky. ;)

Polonia / The Netherlands: run-down districts happy with Polish immigrants [59]

I think most Poles will agree that there is ample opportunity to get exploited in Poland too...
I know of young adults who refused to work (and didn't have to) in Poland because the wages were so low and conditions so bad...

They have some sort of migrants superiority complex (oops, better watch what I say, seems a lot of people are getting suspended this Christmas. ;))

Anyway, you can't get away from the fact that if YOU'RE an economic migrant, then YOU'RE doing the exploiting as well.

Polonia / The Netherlands: run-down districts happy with Polish immigrants [59]

Overcrowding, mass immigration, mass sectoral outsourcing, scarce resources (where jobs usually HAVE to be located in the country), jobs made redundant by technologies, non protectionist government = undermined local employment, unemployment and associated social repercussions, poverty and debilitated progress. The future now looks very different and the social landscape is unrecognisable.

How do you maintain empires from this???

It simmers, then it breaks.

Blame is usually directed at the outsiders but of course the causes are many in this catastrophe.

Life / POLISH TEENAGERS TURN TO PROSTITUTION... [77]

Yeah and the reputation and respect! mMmmhmhmhm! Best job in the world ehh? (sarcasm)

Noone is saying this is the best job in the world, sheesh.

Prostitution was born out of necessity... and whether it's women or men that are involved in selling sex, it's likely not the first or preferred option for their lives.

Didn't you listen to the video... "they are yearning more than they're earning."
Living a dignified existence is a luxury. Be glad you have that luxury.

And what kind of women would go down their looking for... yick. Only fugly ones that can't land men here

It's funny, it doesn't matter which side of the prostitution coin the woman is on, she is always the one that is denigrating herself...

Men are quite capable of exploiting themselves for sex too, and well you know it. ;)

You are aware that as many men engage in the act of paid sex as women? And, well, women have biological urges too. Many men pay without realising also. ;)

I mean at least the deal is clear with these guys - a mutual exchange that both benefit from - and I see no reason why women shouldn't have access to it as well. Fortunately, safe sex permits this sort of thing.

It's just ashame it involves an airfare!

Because your assumption that it is easy enough for women to get this sort of thing at home is dissproved by your whole attitude to sex on this thread.

I mean can't you see the parallels between the women prostituting themselves in Poland, and the men in the Caribbean in this instance...? And just leave your sacrilegious prejudices aside before you answer...

(Nothin' like a prostitution debate to ferret out the prudish, sexist and racist undertones that exist amoungst the Catholic congregation here...)

A fine example of tolerance.

UK, Ireland / Why British men move to Poland [63]

Honestly... give me a British man anyday.

There's an allure about Polish men, but they lack the substance of a Brit. They are wayyy less creative in many ways. And the closed mind thing just doesn't appeal.

*This is a generalisation but I just wanted to turn this thing on its head...*
