Life / Why foreigners in Poland do not respect Poland's culture and traditions? [68]

Again, your source of information is biased, or you hang around really stupid people. Most Americans are well aware of foreigners' contributions. They are also fiercely proud of their origins, (well, maybe not all Poles), and they covet European design, Asian food, Spanish dance, etc, etc..

The only thing they're sure they are best at, is making war. And there, they're right.

News / Have You heard about legalizing 12-hour working day in Poland? [38]

I would not worry too much about the 12-hour shifts; there are many jobs in US with 12 hour shifts: nurses, policemen, warehouse, security, deckhands, some manufacturing...

Many prefer to work longer hours to have extra days off.
It's the changes to the 40 hour week that you should watch out for.

USA, Canada / Would you live in California, USA? [240]

I live in Florida, it's not so much the heat but the high humidity that makes this place unbearable in the summer.
I would move to California if I was not so scared of earthquakes and if I could afford a house with a decent yard within walking distance to the beach.

Life / The changing RCC habits of Poles [70]

If you are aware of its seriousness and do it anyway then yes -- it is a grave sin.

Here is our loophole! No, I am not aware if its seriousness. :)

f stop: do not know that they have to go to confession
You don't, the RCC moved the goalposts on that a few years ago.

well, then, here is your answer Harry, as to why the communion participation went up so much.

I'm sure nto all Polish Catholcis are aware of that fact.

That would be great, Polonius, if RCC gave better indication what a "mortal" sin is.

Life / The changing RCC habits of Poles [70]

Does anybody have any thoughts why there are so many fewer of 'the faithful' but the faithful which there are seem to be becoming much more 'faithful'?

Could be that some the faithful today do not know that they have to go to confession before they take the communion?
Or, maybe, the church attendance today is more for the "show" than the "spiritual growth"?

Love / Goal of young Polish girls [9]

If you're serious, save up some money and go visit Poland. You cannot figure out what this relationship is unless you meet face to face.

But don't mess up whatever plans you had for your future. There are great many differences between individual Polish girls, but very few will go for a guy without any "prospects".

News / Tomasevski makes an idiot out of himself yet again [28]

I could not figure out what the banner says.. Utewski??
Litewski! Needs a bigger space between L and i.

And people, it was a soccer match; last place anyone should expect political correctness. As usual, media makes the world go 'round..

Food / The first cheese was made in Poland? [8]

It looks like the first cheese was made by Polish ancestors: nature.com/news/art-of-cheese-making-is-7-500-years-old-1.12020

Life / The annual national pilgtrimage in Poland - all roads lead to Częstochowa [28]

if you believe that your God will cure you because you went to a hill and gave some offerings, then by all means, travel on. Doing it on your knees helps, they say.

But there is a part of the country, with hearts just as Polish, that is trying to dig itself out of centuries of omens, miracles and superstitions.

Life / Przystanek Jezus to the rescue [47]

Is it the pop/rock scene that is teaching young people good manners, kindness to others, altrusim, self-control, giving up their seat to an elderly person in a tram, sharing, respect for elders, doing good deeds, helping the less fortunate?

You think that is the function of music, or arts in general?

Life / Przystanek Jezus to the rescue [47]

actually, I think Polonius is right here. Rock is supposed to be rebellious, anarchic and flaunt ethical norms.
That's how we exorcise our demons so we can go to work on corporate Monday mornings. Works better than a prayer.

Life / Przystanek Jezus to the rescue [47]

Music is a great way to connect with our innermost feelings, release our frustrations, mellow out.. etc etc. Nothing compares to seeing a great song performed live. Trying to alter or enhance perception, even just with little alcohol (although they say weed is much more effective), is an ancient tradition. ;)

But there are many people who get overly influenced by music, where it eventually encompassed them and becomes a lifestyle. For those, by all means, Przystanek Jesus is a great idea!

News / Demolish Poland's Palace of Culture? [55]

There are great many historical buildings, monuments, pyramids and walls that were built during the time of oppression. If we destroyed all the reminders of the bad times, we'd have no history left to see.

News / Demolish Poland's Palace of Culture? [55]

If you're going to keep any monuments to the communist era (and I think we should), I think pekin is a excellent one to keep.

It has an interesting architecture, it is being utilized, and there are sufficient numbers of skyscrapers all around to pay homage to the current era already.

Love / I love a Polish girl, but I don't want her to drink [37]

That's one thing I must admit; religions are good for keeping people from drinking, or helping them recover. But I must confess (to my own peril here), that I have a hard time trusting people that I never saw drinking. I think that's the best way to flush out a psychopath. ;)
