News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

Basically a PiS version of Germany's Enabling Act 1933 - they're almost transparent about that and no wonder at all that thousands take to the streets in defence of democracy.

They'd love it, I'm pretty sure that's the endgame as they call it.

There was some good news this monring regarding NATO though:
euobserver.com/foreign/133084

The US and Germany have unequivocally said that Nato will not build new bases in Poland, citing tactical and political reasons.

Now, I'm going outside to get sunburnt and have a half dozen cold tyskies, while buring the wife's dinner :D

One only wonders what he has planned next.

He'll want to fire Duda for his goings-on. And he'll throw him under a bus because he'll get blamed for the tribunal court stuff.

Emergency powers will be installed and instead of a presidential election he'll take over the job 'until there's enough stability' for an election (when he dies). And we'll have another Belarus and us foreigners will leave.

That's the worst case scenario.

Look at the Polish companies on this list:

[List of companies in Poland]

There are plenty of 'inidgenous' Polish corpos, successful ones at that.

Propping these up with state-subsidised new corpos established to take on the big guys would be disastrous. It would be a return to communism, it wold lead to a government constantly fighting with debt, inefficient practices by politicians in control of industries they have no clue about, unhappy workers, strikes. Do you really want to return to the 1980s?

Nobody wants that.

Poland GAINS well paid, tax paying jobs and loses NOTHING from outsourcing

Yea, that's what I said Poland should do. They don't do that in many cases though. They're more than happy to let large corpos in like Dell, IBM, Amazon, KPMG with the promise of low tax so long as they provide job. Idiots in powerful economic jobs still think the trickle down system works, when in reality nothing could be further from the truth.

It's not a big deal if the profits leave Poland since that's a miniscule per cent of the money spent and generated in Poland.

I wouldn't agree with that. If the profits were miniscule compared to the money spent then they'd be losing money and they wouldn't hang around here for long at all at all.

The likes of Dell, IBM, Microsoft, Google, Facebook etc, they don't keep their money in Poland and most of the profits made here pay a pittance in corpo. tax. However, if you put up the tax they'll leave and people will lose well-paying jobs.......with the exception of IBM, those guys pay peanuts.

It would be better if the money stayed in Poland, that's not going to happen though. Ya see people look at things like GDP and believe it's a true reflection of an economy, GNP is a far better indicator since GDP counts profits that are generated within Poland, but it doesn't say how much is taken out. With GNP, we know pretty much how much is generated within by Polish companies and what they tend to do with their profits.

It's a catch 22, best thing in my opinion is to encourage these companies rather than hire people here to outsource to Polish companies. They profit from the work and the Polish company reinvests and spends money in Poland to remain competitive.

Are you a big fan of the Balcerite privatisation obsession

Not in particular, but the market is what the market is

She said no-one lacks freedom in Poland

Gays certainly lack freedom, women are pretty much 2nd-class citizens. She's like the Muslim in the burkah who thinks she is free.

Do you believe Morawiecki's Polonisation plan can work? How would you go about it?

No, it won't work. Things have gone too far for it to work.
I'd go about it by focusing on what PL is good at and go all in on those industries.

what route would you suggest for liberating her economy from excessive foreign control whilst ensuring rapid. sustainabel development?

I would focus on what Poland is very good at:

Technology & agriculture & manufacturing
I know of 2 big PL companies who have been the subject of Google & Microsoft takeover attempts and fair play to them, they resisted. But how ling can they resist, especially with conservatives who know nothing of the industry in power.

Agriculture: All that wonderful land and produce Poland has. But look at what PiS have already done to the farmers. There's a few simple solutions, low or no-interest loans so that local farmers can buy land and grow. Another would be to set up local co-op in counties so smaller farmers have places to sell their crops/animals etc.

Manufacturing; Poland is a leader in certain areas of manufacturing, especially things like mining, also automotive industries where it is very competitive. How to stay competitive? For one attract the best people into the best jobs, there's no logic to giving a job to a PiS loving clown with no experience. Just what a what a clusterf!ck Orlen & Tauron etc will become over the next few years as they are run into the ground by unqualified lackies. Another way is to ensure that bilateral agreements remain in place between countries to ensure that foreign companies continue to buy Polish products from this field. We've already seen that PiS have nothing but an absolute disregard for such agreements. German is Polands largest importer of such good. How long of PiS annoying the Germans before they stop buying Polish products and look elsewhere.

Of course products are cheaper in Asia already, but Germany continues to do business in Poland becasue it's local and they know how good the product are. This will not last with an antagonistic government, who, it is plain to see no nothing of global business in charge

Do you stand up when a junior member of your staff enters the room?

You certainly stand up when the President of your country stands.

And totally unacceptable to any exploitative foreign-interest group who view Poland and other EU newbies as territory for maximum profit extraction and export.

Look man, you need to learn something about economics. You clearly don't know much and your view on it is completely biased.

Let me give a quick example. I passed a private building site today, there were many blocks and bricks, they were wrapped in a German brand plastic. Why don't they use Polish blocks is what you'd think. The fact of the matter however is that German blocks are better made and more economic, there are very few, if any, Polish blocks, I stand to be corrected of course....... Materials for making blocks are better in Germany than in Poland, thus it makes more economic sense to make blocks in Germany and for Poles to import them.

Your solution is to set up a company here to make inferior blocks, which would no doubt need state subsudies. It would prety much be a return to socialism.....oh sh!t, I forgot, you're a PiS supporter and state ownership of everything is actually what you want. How silly of me.

News / What kind of Poland do most Poles want? [101]

because of our religion and customs, that homosexual relationships are a sin, we're labeled a bigots and homophones

that's coz you are bigots and homophobes
If you honestly believe that you have to follow the teachings of a mishmash of books written by Iron-Age men and that it still applies to us living in the progressive world in the 21st century then you're, quite frankly, a moron.

It's like this, you can have your 'faith' and your monotheistic 'god' while at the same time believing in a trinity of 3 gods within the one same 'god' and that a 'virgin' gave birth to the son of the father even though they are the same, and that's cool, I'm happy for you bro.

But the second you force your bullsh!t beliefs, which you're totally free to have, onto others then you're nothing better than a fascist.

There's a simple mantra that we should be living by, live and let live.
Maybe if more christians actually acted more christian towards everyone we'd have a lot less hassle/hatred/judgementalism/bigotry in the world

males sexually abusing young girls for years and years.

same applies to the christian church

but a society with no nationalism (ie group cohesion and loyalty) will die sooner rather than later (and good riddance)

Let me put it this way, even though I certainly don't agree with what you've said.

You can be proud of your country's achievements so long as you also regret its failures. PiS with its current whitewashing of Polish history aren't nationalists in my mind, they are propagandists.

Nationalism to me is complete nonsense, to believe that your country is 'better' than another simply because you were born there is nothing but ludicrous. To believe that it is 'better' than other countries becasue of what it done in the past is even stupider, you weren't there, you had nothing to do with it and in all likeliness your ancestors (even if they lived within the borders what is now 'your' country) were too busy trying to stay alive to give an iota concerning the goings on of kings and politicians of their time.

I'm proud of who I am and where I come from, but I understand its limitations too and I certainly for one moment don't believe that Ireland is any better than any other country in the world. That's just stupid. The problem with the world is that too many people are so insecure about themselves that they need to differentiate themselves, rather than taking a step in the right direction of progression and realising that the things we all share in common are the things we should all be working on to make a better world/society.

Life / Is it a 'big deal' to wish Happy Easter in Poland? [29]

edited

unwillingly edited I'll add :D :D :D

Święcone (Easter breakfast) begins with sharing wedges of eggs sprinkled with salt & pepper all blessed at church on Holy Saturday.

That has nothing to do with what I said, indeed it just reinforces the fact that the Christians lifeted the traditions from earlier so-called 'pagan' religions

Love / Polish traditions and customs in a relationship - payments [39]

Maybe I deserve it I don't know.

Christ no!

As someone who works in a profession as you, you should certainly that blaming yourself for the failing of others is a bad route to be on.

In your case, as you already owned the house and have continued to pay the mortgage without any contribution from her, there is no way an Irish court would give her half

Exactly

Look, nobody likes to see a marriage ending and if you can save it (you seem to very much love this woman) then both of you need to attend a marriage counselling course. If you're at the end of your tether and if it's time to call it quits then maybe it is.

The thing is no amount of advice is going to give you a certain answer. You need to go with what you truly want. And I think you know what that is, I think you came here to get your opinion reinforced.

Best of luck whatever the outcome

News / Nike company breaks Polish child labour policy [7]

what matters is that It does in general employ kids in Its factories around the world, Poland should not support such company as a matter of principle

Let me just play devil's advocate for a moment.
Are they doing anything illegal in those countries?
If not, then it's moot
If it's illegal in those countries then they shouldn't do it and should be made stand trail in those countries.

I don't wear Nike for a simple reason.
They make clothes for chavs/knackers/dresiarzy

Here's something for you to have a read/listen to:
Do boycotts work?.......................the answer is, not really.

Can anyone enlighten me on the facts regarding this issue?

I'm Irish with a Polish wife and my wife is the opposite to yours man. I'm gonna take a wild guess here but I bet she's a Polish culchie? If so that would explain why she has such a backward attitude.

I know plenty of other foreigners living here with Polish wives and that's not the way things are done at all. Look like you just got unlucky man.

Tell her to cop the fuq on or stick her on the first Ryanair back to Rzeszów coz she's screwing you over brother.......I hope she's at least still properly screwing you at the very least.

It's a grey area though isn't it?
I think Polish law can only come down hard ot DDoS attacks if they're aimed at govt-concerned websites; national defence, transport, state authorities etc.

And that's only if the attack originates from within Poland, these guys are behind 100s of VPNs and willl be impossible to catch and even if they are caught their home country is unlikely to extradite them to Poland for hacking a sh!tty neo-fascit rag like w Sieci

Why would you 'help' people that don't want help?

Why interfere with people who are happy?

homo sapiens is a thinking person

That, my auld nemesis, is where we differ.
I honestly believe that the vast majority of people are unthinking, mindless gombeens.

If they weren't the world wouldn't be the god-awful mess that it is today.

But y'know, if people are happy to be unthinking and mindless then that's their prerogative. Life is too short, live and let live, y'know, we're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time.
