News / Can Russia be a good partner for Poland? [42]

Ironside and AdamKadmon
You are both great, and your discussion is even greater then You are and the most interesting in the thread so far!
:)
Poland has to be a good partner for Russia as well as Russia should be a good partner for Poland because of a very simple reason: we are neighbors and our history causes we will be always connected with each other very closely. I'd answer Ironside's question: Yeah, we can be good partners, but better for us will be when we just think that we have to be or we must be with good advantages for both sides.

:)
Simple, isn't it? Don't complicate the topic very much, guys.

Love / I treat my Polish colleague like I would treat my older sister, Confused [9]

Just ask her about it. Try to find a good moment and ask her gently. "Are You feeling confused that I treat you like you were my sister?" Don't be shy. Maybe she is more shy than you are? Maybe she is reserved person and feels a bit uncomfortable with somebody who is opened? I don't know, just talk to her about it.

Work / CHRISTMAS CHARITY WORK IN POLAND... [29]

You can go to hospice or maybe to hospital to visit elderly people who probably miss their families and friends.
A wonderful idea, Wildrover.
Maybe after Christmas you will also find time to be with people who suffer very much.
Sometimes many just need a hand who somebody with a kind heart will hold for a moment or two.
I've been thinking about hospice from time to time. It's inviting for me. My parish organizes help for the place. The door for people who wish to help are opened all the time there.

Well, I have to say I look up to people like You. I realize then that actually there is no time to think if I really want to do something for others.

I hope I will go there as soon as my time will allow me.

Love / Craziness and Polki - these two go together [33]

Southern
Your question is silly. You won't know anything about "Polki" in theory. Register on a chat room and just talk with Polish girls. You are asking about features of character. You can't generalise about them because it's harmful for many of us. Again, I will ask you: are you good or are you bad? What will you tell me? "I'm good, you can say, but I have some bad shades on my character." The same is with "Polki". We are like many women from all over the world and we also differ because for sure some of us have national treats like being for example overemotional or too proud. Geess, Southern, meet new people in real, stop thinking about Polish girls: you will do what you want but you won't become much wiser reading about womens' characters. Are you too shy to flirt with girls in chat-rooms? I'm sure you aren't.

Good advice from me: meet new people, stop analising about them. It's a bit pointless.

Life / Is Poland a place of high culture? [36]

I'll help. I think Southern wanted to ask about: art, architecture, literature, philosophy, old cities and its atmosphere, ballroom dancing, artist and their activities, museums, galerries, exibitions. Am I right, Southern? It may also mean the way how somebody behaves, I mean, when he/she doesn't says s**** all the time to express his'her enthusiasm. It's actually so general question that finding an answer on it is impossible. Try to specify, Southern, what did you want to know?

In Polish your sentence is: "Polacy to wysoka kultura": it's not very understandable but interesting.

Love / Craziness and Polki - these two go together [33]

Southern, let me ask You a question: are you intelligent Greek macho or helplessly silly Greek teenager (around 16-17) who has failed his class in high school and is bored with repeating Maths?

As a teacher I will tell You: it's a close question, avoid them.
Some are, some aren't.
Thank you for attention Southern and good night to all, 22.41 in Poland.

Life / How do the Polish feel about air pollution in their cities? [35]

I feel good in my city. It's not the cleanest, there are plenty cars and huge traffic on the roads
Doing anything with it is difficult. You have to get used to it, that's all what I can say.
Krakow is next to Silesia and this is very polluted area in Poland, plenty mines, many cities that are placed not very far away one from another.

Why aren't You somewhere else? So many cities are much cleaner than Kraków.

Life / Why Poland is "surprised" by winter and snow every year? [192]

how do you deal with that stress? :)

I'm not stressed at all. I love the weather. It's fascinating, these little shining snowflakes falling down from the sky.
An Old Town in my city looks impressive.
However waking up in the morning is not easy.
Helpless faces on TV, yeeah, that's right, I decided to watch News only and CNN from time to time.

News / 100 days of Komorowski presidency [41]

I hate when somebody is too critical. I try to see positive aspects of his behaviour and trials to rule the strange and overcritical Polish society. I try to see good sides, and of course, I can see only "haha" as an answer. This is really awful. No matter how much people try to be good, every time somebody will see something negative. Weird Polish character!

Gosh!
Polish people! Notice good things! Notice small things! Don't criticize too much. It depends only on You what will You see!
I see Komorowski is handsome, he has a beautiful wife, he wants the best for us!
Ohhh, and yes, I think he is handsome.
;)
Maybe instead of seeing negative sides will You try a bit harder to find a good ones?
Be patriots Polacy!

News / 100 days of Komorowski presidency [41]

Mafketis
Polish politics is brutal and savage enough without the president jumping into the middle of the scrum.

I agree.
The thing I hate the most about Polish politics is it's aggressive language and being rough. I am happy that Komorowski is so reasonable and he seems to think many times before making steps in public.

Being brutal in media is a big mistake. Finally we have a president who is different.
I hope he will become better, smarter, wiser, more experienced with every decision he will take and more self confident. He has all features that allows him to gain higher popularity and respect of his voters.

It's normal finally. I like Komorowski very much.
He is modest, able to cooperate with wise people. People respect him. I do respect him too very much. Besides, he looks very good. He is a very positive good diplomat.

Life / The Poles - do they "bumble" through life? [29]

"Bumbling along through life"?
We work, have families, try hard to be someone, many of us have high motivation to enjoy better life.
Bumbling... What a nonsense.
A similar one? Do Afroamericans in slams "bumbling" through life?
Yes, many of them do, but, they are just a little part of American society. Poles are nationality.
Again, I have to say that I hate the title of the thread. Awful, harmful, biased and horrible +it's author presents a silly racializm.

So, author, no, you are not right IMO.
Tremendous minority do, about 90% don't. Like in most European societies.

Life / What do Poles want, what drives them...? [58]

Power is for me a state of mind. Psychological sense of power?
Everybody can be powerful if he wants to. The problem is about:when and why. If You want power, you will get it, because your mind needs it. Say to Your mind: I want to be a king: you become him in the same moment.

When I am happy and healthy, I am powerful, I can have whatever I want then.
I am filled with energy and power when I realize my dreams. If I want money, I will get them somehow because it depends only on me.

If i killed you would i be more powerful?

Maybe, I don't know.

Life / What do Poles want, what drives them...? [58]

Wroclaw_Boy

I don't understand power as an answer... power over others

We all want to be powerful. Your personal power means You are important for Yourself and others. I think it's a good feeling.

I wonder what would replace money if we didnt live in such cynical world.

Other things you can touch or smell?
Can You imagine world without money? I can't. The more important about them is when they become the main target. We work for money, no doubt, money allow us to realize dreams. It's the best thing. I don't like money, I like plenty opportunities they give me. I like to have dreams first, then money to dream more. Other sequence is wrong.

Power for me is being comfortable with ones self.

Fine :)
The highest order is to say order to myself. It's very difficult sometimes.

Love / Irish woman dating a Polish man - need advice about my polish boyfriend and marriage [24]

SzwedwPolsce
How many young couples in PL do you know that got married after 1 year.

People who are older then 40 used to to get married after one year very often.
I know many young couples who go to bed after one evening and are in a relationship for the next 4 days. Then everyone goes his own way and looks for a better lover for the next 4 days till he or she meets the best lover... for the next 1 month till he (or she) will not meet and check a better one.

Life / What do Poles want, what drives them...? [58]

What drives us?
- high ambitions about career especially among young people: they're like crazy about going further to get their goals without looking at others
- money
- high standard of living
- a very good education
- healthy life style
- travels
- entertainment

zetigrek
what about God?

Society becomes more secular, don't you think? Church is less demanding and more permissive. I sometimes think if people remember a word "conscience". Many forget what is this.

Love / Irish woman dating a Polish man - need advice about my polish boyfriend and marriage [24]

caz
I dont want to lose him, but he wont listen when i say, marriage is big commitment in Ireland, he says when polish men fall in love they want to get married quickly.

Are you sure about it?
People don't get married in Poland after 4 months, usually it's after one year, sometimes a bit longer, two or three years...
I'd think 10 times before taking the decision about marrying the Polish man.
I think he expects from the commitment something more then just You and Your love.

Love / Broken Heart due to the mother of my Polish girlfriend [23]

shewolf
It's not that easy for a woman to throw her mother away to be with a man. Of course she's not going to love you more than her mother.

It's true, but nobody expects from her to throw her mother away. A problem in the situation is the biggest for the mother of the girl. I think she doesn't see opportunities for them to be together.

If she saw them, she could change her mind.
What kind of future can he offer to his girlfriend? Maybe the future isn't bright and good enough for the Polish girl and him.

I'm just trying to think like a parent.

Love / Broken Heart due to the mother of my Polish girlfriend [23]

ciprian_suciu
I call my girl says she wants to take a break to think about what he said the mother.

Two key questions in the situation are:
Does she need a break to think if she really wanted to be with you?
or: Did she say that she needed a break because she thought sth like: "Our relationship wasn't strong enough to survive."
I think finding good answers would be good for you.

Love / Such a Very Sad Loss.. fighting the battle with a Polish lady to see my daugher. [56]

Yes, you're right.
Everybody needs his own time to mourn an important person.
But sometimes the feeling can be shorter, just at the time when I want to suffer less and not as long as most of people used to.

This is his decision.
It depends only on him and nobody will help him with this feeling.
I can only feel compassion for him.
