USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

"Is only for beautiful; is only for beautiful."

:)

You can have anything you want so long as it's borsch or fish with dill.

And while you were eating your fish dill and looking at the picture of the nice food, could you pretend you were eating something else? hahaha

UK, Ireland / Unemployed Poles in Ireland : a crash course in milking the system [323]

your extended family are/probably will be receiving our benefits.

Is that really possible?
I never heard of someone's brother being able to get social welfare because of the sister.

Yeap, it takes a little longer to process but the claim gets back dated anyway.

That's messed up.

What do you suggest?

It sounds like the dole is too easy to get but then you have people who are truly in need.

These benefits are in place for less well off British families, and its a great system for the underprivileged, it was never meant for Eastern Europeans

I don't know anything about the British welfare system but can a Polish person just go to England and start claiming?
Do they not have to work and collect stamps (or something) first, showing they made a contribution?

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

Not only that- people don't seem to do business plans or research their market- they don't know what the hell they are doing- but they want to open a shop.

I have come across people, where I live, who don't come to terms with paying 5000zl for 100 M2 in the centre (lots of pedestrian traffic) and paying 2000zl for a 100 M2 out where there is no pedestrian traffic actually means that the 2000zl shop can actually be much more expensive than the 5000zl place because you can subtract the rent from your earnings.

Figuring out what the market needs is key- not thinking that the customer should buy what you have.

I actually have many stories about this, the latest went something like this recently in a restaurant in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Me: "Hello, I'm in a hurry, could I have something quick like a soup?"

Waitress: "Mushroom soup?"

Me: "Yes, that would be fine, thinks."

Waitress: "We don't have any mushroom soup"...

I cracked up laughing and left.

Here in Poland too,
I find what I want to buy in a shop only to be told it is not for sale "for display only"...
I order a coffee (nescafe instant) in a fairly empty place with lots of staff across the road from a super market. Half an hour later a friend joins me and asks for a coffee only to be told that I drank the last one. Blaming me :)

I can't think of any more but there are many such examples, it appears that some people think the parameters of their job is not to restock or make the business money but just to do only what they have been instructed to do.

Ah, one more from Lithuania, I went to buy a glass shower curtain, they didn't have any in stock so I found one in a catalog, they said it would take two months to get.

So I went to their desk to pay and I was asked for my passport, I asked why they would need that? they said it was standard procedure. I told them I didn't have my passport and wasn't going to go home and get it. The sales guy, excused himself and went off for a meeting with his boss (no judgment calls allowed). after some time he was happy to tell me that because I am a foreigner, they would make an exception for me. Four months later my shower curtain came...

any topic suggestions, I am experiencing a dry spell:D

Are the sexes treated differently here than in Canada?

UK, Ireland / Unemployed Poles in Ireland : a crash course in milking the system [323]

What do you mean here? The oil off the west cost? What exactly?

Yes and the whole mortgage crisis.

What have they done? Apart from electing politicians with room temperature iqs, like?

The bankers and politicians are Irish, are you totally devoid of common sense?
If they were Polish during the catastrophe, you'd have a point but you just go on and on like a broken record, looking the other way while Ireland is crippled because of Irish people. It's really no wonder the Irish bankers and politicians get away with it because of fools like you looking for an external enemy to blame, it's a pity and real pity.

You did. Go back to the threads on mass immigration from 2009.

No I didn't, you go back and look, look well.
The fact that you even mention this means you already looked and couldn't find anything that helps.

And bankers, politicans etc are responsible. Not the Irish people.

Correction, the Irish bankers and Irish politicians are part of what makes up the Irish people.
At least you finally listen, pity that it's far far too late.

The dole is a drop in the ocean against what Irish people have done, selliing off the national resources, no future, congratulations on looking the wrong way.

News / Children licking cream off a Polish priest's legs "inappropriate" says NGO [116]

I haven`t changed my style an iota. hahaha

You are talking codswallop, you're not even addressing what I said about the topic, just what I said about you, that much has changed.

this pervert would be put in a jail

No, there would be an inquire, we do have a criminal justice system to protect the innocent, even the very very innocent.

You told me that they would all go home when the boom was over and that they were only here for a few years to work and save up some cash

I never said that, I said that Irish people are to blame for Ireland's catastrophic economic crisis.
It really is pointless talking to you at all, you just make up stuff in that head of yours.

I predicted that this would happen and SeanBM et al scoffed at my claims.

Are you that stupid that you really never understood what I wrote?

It just goes to show how pointless it is even trying to talk with you, I see you are studying Simon Mol now, get a life.

One day we will wake up and find out that the state is bankrupt.

Yes, Ireland is bankrupt and it was the Irish citizens who did it, cop on would ya.

News / Children licking cream off a Polish priest's legs "inappropriate" says NGO [116]

Yes, thanks to Catholic upbringing which has been prevalent so far.

You seem like you just post stuff at this stage, you used to be a better poster.

That is not what I was talking about, tonight is a good example, in the men's changing room of the swimming pool, two women were clearing the water from the floor.

They are not perverts, I think.

I think what changes a country is the "no win, no fee" suing culture, cups of coffee with "contents may be hot" on them, sexual harassment law suits.

Of course priest having been caught molesting children has taken many people's innocence away.

It will change and not because of your silly notion of Catholicism but because there are bad people in the world who do molest children and some of them are Catholic priests or are you going to say that that only happens in the "West"?

News / Children licking cream off a Polish priest's legs "inappropriate" says NGO [116]

Looks like a bad joke gone wrong to me.

Poland is very very innocent in many ways, of course people of position can do wicked things and get away with it because of this but this just looks like people doing stupid things to me.

Funny how none of the people involved, or their parents see anything wrong but on PF it's a perverted act, we simply do not know enough to draw such conclusions.

Life / Do Poles drink before noon? [95]

I think that's s crap.People get drunk because they want to do it.

I was referring to the communist times.

SeanBM: And the introduction of coffee houses.

I cannot see the connection.

Coffee houses offer people a sober place to meet.

Life / Do Poles drink before noon? [95]

So why do Poles get hammered less now than then?

My guess is the fall of communism.

I know people who are teetotalers because it was their form of passive-resistance against the powers that were.
Keep you drunk enough and you can't organize yourselves into groups to change the course of history.

Also, I think, the whole 100% employment thing must have left people seeing no need to better themselves.
Now you can move up a property ladder, form your own company, travel abroad, speak your mind etc...

And the introduction of coffee houses.

I left that bit out of my post.

UK, Ireland / British - Stupidest nation in Europe [127]

We're already 27 posts in and nobody has posted the youtube video of random Brits being asked question they can't answer, which is quickly to be followed by the Australian comedy that does the same thing in the U.S.A, in retaliation.

You're slipping PF, I expect more of the same, much more. It's like you all have no memory and post the same posts and topics over and over, so much so that Admin had to make an archive just so people who don't know PF and stumble upon it don't know that it has all been pretty much said before.

You are all really letting the side down by not posting the obvious replies.

It is my estimate, by the year 2020, a PF thread will be no more than this: entitled "More of the same" and the first post will read "YES! libcommie" and the next will read "NO! r-wing Nazi" and the last will read "Some r some rn't" and it will be as much effort as anyone needs make.

UK, Ireland / British - Stupidest nation in Europe [127]

I find that in London people very often have a good idea where the country they come from is located.

You'd be surprised, as was I, how many people in London don't know about the geopolitical state of Ireland and the six counties, never mind the rest of the world.

where eggs come from

That's easy, Tescos obviously.

I wouldn't call Brits stupid but I was amazed in London how bad people's geography was.

Could you perhaps link to the Daily Mail article in question?

the article in the first post says something like - "said the "Daily Mail" newspaper" but I know not who did this "study", it sounds like they asked ten year olds.

Life / Poland needs more immigrants and their children - which nationalities are the best? [518]

How do you explain the fact that African countries are on the bottom of the list of the average IQ level

Lack of health care, quality education, access to nutritious food, clean drinking water, proper housing, computers and other modern technologies.

What's the point in me posting it's not as if you're going to listen to any sense.

Genealogy / Poles born under Russian control - are we Russian? [29]

If the Poles were under Russian control for that long, could someone consider them selves part Russian?

If you go back long enough we are all every nation, we all share the same genes.

There were 3 partitions of Poland (I think that is what you are talking about?).
Doesn't make Polish people Russia citizens.
You could also be talking about the Soviet Union, were it is my understanding that Poland was a Russian puppet state but that is arguable.

You have another thread about Russians raping Polish women, it did happen to some but there were and are still Polish/Russian consenting marriages.

If you are more specific, we can answer your question better.

Feedback / Polish Forums Android / iPhone app? [14]

Yours is a newer model than mine.

I get the feeling by the time I finish this sentence there will be a newer version.

I would add, viewing web content and editing messages on a mobile phone is a hassle anyway, and not a pleasant experience.

I understand that as My "orical of delphi" phone needs a "high preistess gibbering" sales man to get the "priests of the temple " the phone guys to interpret what is wrong with me, after all the phone works perfectly, it's me who needs the upgrade.

... tablets, are the best way to go for sure:)

So Mosses and God had it right the first time, I see.
Thanks!

Sam Sung my song too (cool phone), but in the "settings" menu there is no "view" option.

History / What do nations of the world owe to Poland and Polish people? [58]

relations were not exactly cosy with dare I say mother Russia.

Pawian misses the U.S.S.R..
It's understandable, he's drinking whiskey instead of soviet wodka.

What do nations of the world owe to Poland and Polish people?

A nice cuppa barry's tea with milk.
