News / Politician shot in Lodz - two assistants to lawmakers from Law and Justice (PiS) party [66]

Maybe the guy could have defended himself if he had a pistol...

Mr C, we just dont have your mentality in Europe...We dont want guns..We like them for clay pigeon shooting or grouse shooting (in season) or a bit of dear hunting (in season)..but on the whole, we dont want them on the streets for any Tom Dick or Harry to have...Its not our way..It is so far removed from your average persons way of thinking you would not believe..Or I feel, you couldnt believe or understand because of your indoctrination, the obsession with gun in America...We just dont feel that way

News / WHY IS POLAND STILL GIVEN THE COLD SHOULDER? [197]

We all know that these countires have corrupt governments and these business take what they can get due to desperation, they are over populated and uneducated and this is just perpetuated with each generation...We dont need 100 words.

There was a study done in India, one village was given a good education and contreception and it thrived (2 child family)..while a study was carried out on another village(average 6 children) who went out their daily lives and believed that breeding more kids to till the land was the way to go....

News / WHY IS POLAND STILL GIVEN THE COLD SHOULDER? [197]

Everybody gets all boo-hoo about poor third world workers but the truth is many of them are indeed glad to have the work -any work.

At a price - I dont buy from places like Primark in the UK for this reason.

It lets them eat where otherwise they would not.

Letting a child go to school and be educated will enable him to go on and be more productive and pay tax and let more people eat. (you're not looking at the long term!)

Sure their working conditions suck but we judge them compared to our modern day conditions.

Suck? 20 hour day for a child who is half starved? Even Dickens painted a better picture of kids!

They're third worlders for a reason.

Yep, because we want it now and we want it cheap! and Their governements dont give a shyte because of their caste system! (lower castes work in these places in India)

And who wants to pay $200 for the $15 pocket book?

If prices were regulated then we wouldnt know any different? The coffee and chocolate industry phuck these people over on a regular basis (Ive moved on to Africa now) with the price fixing on the stock market.

We may as well make it here if we're gonna start overpaying peeps.

We used to and it was better quality, people are more productive and quality control is higher.

They're called 'slave labor' for a reason!

We live in a world where the word "slave" shouldnt exist.

You know me well enough to know Im not some bleeding heart liberal, but if we dont like them landing on our shores, we should:

A) accept they are going want to escape to a better place
B) pay them more so they have a better standard of living and want to stay where they are

Life / Tricks & Dodges (The Poles are nothing if not inventive) [26]

Anybody got any more bright ideas?

Along the lines of the egg thing:

Shove a piece of fish in to a curtain pole (obviously has to be hollow) give it a few weeks - the house will smell to high heaven..who would think of looking in the curtain pole? Some people really shouldnt try and knock the price of your house down and then demand certain fixtures and fittings!

News / WHY IS POLAND STILL GIVEN THE COLD SHOULDER? [197]

Although I'm unable to prove it here and now, every Pole I spoke to in UK in 1997 all agreed it very much seemed the Western mass media was ignoring Poland when international aid was sorely needed.

Well, Im sorry if people felt like that about it..But didnt these people have voices? We have local radio stations and regional TV stations, plus we have had large communities of Polish people in the UK for decades..Had they felt so strongly they could have made a noise about it and made people see what was happening....So, whilst you can blame the UK, you can blame them too - if you know anything about the British people, you will know we are very giving people and would have helped in what way we could - had we know!

By the way its huracan season, do Poles know how many people are going to die in those parts of the world and how many people are going to be left homeless and even more poverty stricken than they already are? Do they care? Or are they more concerned about their own day to day lives?

PS: 'pity' is spelt with one T and 'phuck' with an F ;-D

I dont know why but I always go for the double t in pity its a mental block! the ph as you know is done purposely ;0)

It's time to do some serious, philosophical considering of why things are the way they are.

Food chain, whilst you want your cheap handbag, there will always be some 6 year old Indian kid sewing the lining into it!

News / WHY IS POLAND STILL GIVEN THE COLD SHOULDER? [197]

It just goes to show what having a strong work ethic and willingness to work hard for very little money gets you.

Jeezzus Christ, stereotype? Yep they can undercut and do it cheaper..Not always the best! Ask anyone about driveways in the UK...

It's better to be a slacker who demands a huge salary.

You mean a professional who will give you exactly what you ask for?

Consumer society gone mad..false economy..pay $50 for a pair of shoes they last a couple of months pay $150 and they last a couple of years! Same if pay £3,000 for a kitchen and it last (looking nice) for about a six months before the door handles start to fall off and the door hinges buckle..pay £10,000 and it looks lovely after 4 years...Trust me Ive seen cheap and Ive seen quality..

every place on earth known for hard workers who do not get paid much has this same problem.

They work hard because they have no alternative...You think the first settlers in America sat behind desks shouting "sell sell sell" before going home in their Merc. to a 6 bed detched with their 2.4 kids and lovely wife? What do you think we should do about it? All hold hands and sing a nice song and hope that all these hard working people come to our country and work for less than we do so they can take away what we worked hard for?

News / WHY IS POLAND STILL GIVEN THE COLD SHOULDER? [197]

I strongly disagree with that!

Thats your right...Do you know how many people in the UK have been killed / lost their homes due to floods in recent years? Was it reported on Polish news, do I give a phuck if it wasnt, damn right I dont!

It's making people aware of the way Poland has and is being treated, as opposed to wallowing in self-pity

No, you are basking in self-pitty at the moment with this thread...

Hell yes, nothing a Pole likes to do more than bit.ch about no one respecting them.

Because of course that gains respect? ;0)

Poland is view in west as niger of Europe.

Nope! More like Pakis <jk>

that is probably Romania.

Yep!

Real Estate / Legal questions about dividing a property in Poland [19]

Would this still apply as the eldest is not the fathers biological son and although I do not believe any formal adoption process was undertaken he does have my wifes fathers surname?

He is still your mother-in-laws son...and the first born and has his fathers name (biological or not)

terri]

Best advice so far.

It sounds like the best advice here is simply to stay well clear of this whole situation. It hardly sounds like it's worth the effort - if you want somewhere to stay, buy a static caravan.

Worst advice so far.

simply not true.

Actually it is true...the BBC didnt report on it.

But similary, did / do Polish news report on recent and past floods in the UK?

Northern Europeans usually focus on Poles, and Southern Europeans focus on Romanians and Bulgarians.

Oh Americans have the Mexicans, so dont feel left out Mr C :D

although I got a bit sick of the lack of trees and grass in the city centre after two weeks...

All you needed to do was take a 10 minute tram ride and you would have been at the largest municaple park in Europe :D Complete with 2 golf courses a putting range, boating lake and miles of open spaces - oh there's a little farm there too ;0) I agree there isnt a great deal of green space in the city centre, but you have to remember it was an industrial town (although at one time was just farm land - but progress is progress), the heart of the industrial revolution which made Britain very very rich!

...(I believe it was the IRA).

Correct, best days work they ever did, they got rid of that horrid giant 70s shopping centre that looked like a huge tiled public toilet! And not one person killed...

Finding out what to wear was a b*itch. English weather at it's best...

Just always remember your brollie, I carry my 365 days of the year! Its mild and wet in the summer, cold and wet in the winter ;0)

And being told NOT to go to Moss side after eight o'clock at night.

Personally I wouldnt walk through there any time of the day.

More hotels like this

The rooms are dreadful though...Im still haunted by the overwhelming use of chintz!!!

You have ever wanted to listen to him?!

I had the Stars CD many moons ago...No accounting for taste is there really? I now feel like standing up and saying "Hi my name is Shelley and I used to like Simple Red" (*said in recovering acoholic like way*)

Well, apparently Rod Stewart

But your small enterpreneurs take advantages of that fact. In 2004-2007 seemingly there was too little ppl to work in unskilled jobs so Polish influx helped the UK economy. In crisis the influx stopped but still, small rate of wages which Easter European were willing to take, certainly helped some of them to survive.

It encouraged businesses to pay rubbish pay (you think they set up agencies in Poland because I wanted to do Poles a favour?), Poles dont have the same outgoing, 5 Poles sharing a 1 bed flat dont have the same outgoings as 1 Brit living in similar property..Hence the reason they aford to take those "small rates of pay" plus let's face it, it was better than they got at home! Hence the reason they came to the UK and swamped the job market (you know the laws of supply and demand dont you?). But, I will say this, not all Poles are taking small rates of pay, a friend of my pulls about £35-40K a year (with over-time) and one of the engineers at work is Polish..She wont be working for "small rates" either..

In Poland we have similar situation in agriculture sector where not too many ethnic Poles want to work for so little money. The farmer can't pay better wages because it would make their business unprofitable so they hire Ukrainians, and everybody is happy.

You dont get it do you? Things dont improve if you constantly have a supply of cheap and willing labour, how can standards be improved? The wages in the UK have decreased in the last 5 years due the country being overpulated and there being fewer jobs..Companies are in a position they know there will be 200 candidates for one job...Im all for being competitive, but we have to draw the line somewhere...

also against the Polish imigration, am I wrong?

Where did I say that? What I have said is, we have enough low educated people of our own, we dont need them exported from certain new member countries to come here and work in manual labour low skilled jobs.

Im totally against immigration from 3rd world countries where producing 7 kids is a normal thing to do, where witchcraft is still practiced and where stoning women is considered a bit of a sport.

Although, I think (and I could be wrong) that it was Amathyst who made a point of saying that she liked the Irish - who make up by far the largest amount of immigrants in England as it happens.

Id say people of Irish decent, not actual 'Irish' people..

I am quite sure she is descended from immigrants herself or she wouldn't be shouting so loud..:)

People on this forum are well aware that I have Irish and French blood..but thats a tiny percentage of my family line....I consider myself English.... But do please note the fact that my "immigrant" blood comes from Europeans...both of which nationalities are more than welcome to live in England...Oh..silly me...The Normans did for a long time and due to our "close" relations with Ireland, there have been 1,000s up on 1,000s come here for centuries..

My opinions about immigration comes from looking at the state of the UK and how multikulti has failed miserably...The mere fact this guy is a Banlagedeshi speaks volums they are more likely to be illegally here in the UK...or study micky mouse courses for years and years hoping to get citizenship based on the 10 year rule..Trust me I know a bit more about immigration than you do!

just like polish migrants chose UK over Germany or Italy.

Because there are no restrictions..Shows what you know.

They chose Poland over Czech Republic because they can

They chose because its cheaper, have you been to Prauge recently? Plus there maybe stricter controlls on student visas...

It is hypocritical of you people to disparage these people when you are doing EXACTLY the same in Western Europe, Americas, Australia and NZ.

All ex British colonies populated by Europeans.

be it France (car burning seems to be their favourite past-time),

Actually rape is another.

or, in fact,
Australia (wasn't there a huge unrest some time ago about conflict with muslim immigrants?)

They had to bring a law about inciting racism against white people..how about that?

haha, I'm definitely going back to Bangladesh someday no worries, i already go every 1 or 2 years for summers but who knows, even if i live in Europe, I would be in Bangladesh from time to time.

You have no intention of going back because:

but it might take me a while before I settle back in my country, since I'm used to the foreign environment.

Bangladesh is one of the most poverty stricken countries in the world..

......

Huh??

To live (rent, bills, phone, internet) to eat to maybe have some social life you would need about 3K - plus no chance of a part time job, so your family will have to support you.

We hardly see eye-to-eye, but in this case, you're bang on the money.

It's going to get a damn sight more expensive, since home student fees are set to rise to about 10K and immigration caps are tightening, Poland should brace itself for an influx..

I still can't figure out why many of them think that they can work here.

Because they think ALL European countries are just begging for their services? He would have discounted Germany straight away since they are not allowed to work. Im not sure why his father was so against the Czech Republic and thought Poland was better? Do you have any thoughts on this?

Better universities in Britain & Ireland too.

10K per year and rising for tuition fees alone for foreign students, plus a crack down on foreign students work over their allowed limit - now do you understand why they applying to study in Poland? Plus there's added benefit if they manage to find a wife there when they've completed their studies they can move to the UK..

Also student visas are not as easy to get hold of for the UK as they were, so I'd say a great number of them studying in Poland are using fraudulent education quals or wouldnt meet the maintenance funds requirements to be able to study in the UK.

I wanna study in EU

You mean Europe?

Anyway - best of luck to you in your studies.

You think he's going back? He has a cheek to look down on the Czeph Republic..

Life / Foreigners in Poland and what they think of us [54]

Well the French are...complicated. Not in a good way.

The French are just fine.

it's hard to communicate in France... French, even they speak English well, refuse to use it and i did struggle with my French to get something out of them...\

I have to say I love this about them..But to be honest, French isnt that difficult to communicate in...(at a basic tourist level)...

East Asians seems to accommodate the easiest to local environment...

The younger ones adapt, the older ones probably dont know a word of Polish and probably have no intention of learning it..

News / 30 to 40 thousand abortions by Polish girls in foreign countries [142]

Key Facts
In 2008, for women residents in England and Wales:

Non-residents:
in 2008, there were 6,862abortions for non-residents carried out in hospitals and clinics in England and Wales (7,099 in 2007)

The total number of abortions was 195,296, compared with 198,499 in 2007, a fall of 1.6%

but it's obvious that low level of living is the main factor

No its not, its ease of access to abortion, people lived on far less many years ago and managed, people just have a more "disposable" attitude to pregnancy these days - here today, gone tomorrow...

In France, Sweden, GB, Italy it's also a disaster. Now I'm even stronger against abortion.

Thats because its legal - but dont think for one moment its only the indiginous people that are taking full advantage of the services, a friend of mine worked at a hospital as a receptionist in one such department and she was shocked at the amount of asian women that abort (generally when they find out its another girl!) at the latest stage possible...

go abroad in order to get serviced and strain other countries health system

Not really, I find it hard to understand how they get an abortion here if they dont live here, they need a GP to refer them to a hospital..so in order to do that they need to register with GP and to do that they need to have an address...Its not a simple "walk in say hi I need an abortion" - I think the numbers are exaggerated, grossly.

Another issues is that if women see that there is not enough security (either financial or social) they will not have a child.

True.

None of which changes the fact that you bastards are also responsible for Simply Red and there is nothing on the planet which can ever make up for that.

The Course director was from Manchester and he had to explain to the team leaders that manchester wasn't really the place for a cultural bus-ride unless you were rabidly obsessed with late 19th C industrial architecture.

What BS...The director was a retard.
