investment theory

This makes lots of sense. But it is difficult to prove because what goes on behind the scenes amongst the true shakers. movers and strong-pillers is carefully concealed from public and academic scrutiny. Their propaganda machine works overtime to highlight demogogic slogans such as freedom, democracy, equality, the people's will, etc. The winner is the one who does a better PR snowjob on the voting public at a given point in time: The sole motivation of the above-mentioned string-pullers is the acquisiton of wealth and power. Alwys has been and always will be.

anyone who supports this nutter

Anyone who supports this nutter Petru, a puppet of his oligarch masters, should have their head examined. That guy has already meglomaniacally delcared himself "the leader of Poland's opposition" and displays clearly overheated ambitions to bid for the presidency next time round. Heaven forbid!

News / Do you think Germany will stop buying out Polish media? [15]

moved from

criticized the fledgling government

The right to criticise is what free speech is all about. The previous Platformer regime felt that democracy is when 90% of Poland's German-owned media brownose PO and badmouth the opposition and when those in power stack the TK with their own hand-picked appointees. Anything else destroys democracy. Ask KOK (Komitet Obrony Koryta)!

Isn't a diversity of political views a good thing

It is unless one define's it your way: diversity = PiS-bashing and PO-brown-nosing. And democracy means 14 PO appointees on the TK and all of 1 form PiS.

huge supporter of Ruch Narodowy

Dunno what he once supproted, but even someone who supprots the anti-Polish Ruch Michnikowy can at times write or say something meaningful, interesting or eye-opening. It should be judged on merit, not prejudice.

I recall some years ago when the Kosher Gazette wrote "Primate Glemp is again criticising the West". It didn't bother saying whether the criticism was justified, just that he was "criticising the West". Apparently to the readership that was another way of saying Glemp was the bad guy, was wrong or misguided.

"foreign funded and controlled"

Hungarian Jew George Soros who is pulling the strings is certainly foreign and not Polish. He may be working through his Batory Foundation or some other front group he has bankrolled.

puppet journalists

It looks as though the PO puppet journalists (Kraśko, Lis, Lis's wife Hanka, Tadla et al) are on the way out. Thy are being replaced with reliable newspeople who offer balanced reporrting not Platformerian propaganda. And it's about time. Eight years of Tuskophilia and Platformerian brown-nosing had become pretty had to take.

completely formed by the PR

No-one was more formed by PRL and in fact could be called spineless lackeys and toadies of the Soviet-backed regime than the 30 PO MPs who belonged to the PZPR and/ot served as SB (secret police) informers. Not to mention TK chief Rzepliński, ministers Ćwiąkalski and Kudrycka, presidential aide Nałęcz and a host of others who found sanctuary in PO-controlled structures.

extra taxation

Why are the opposition saying that taxing banks and large retialers will jack up prices for ordinary customers? Shouldn't the law contain provisions that the taxed enterprises must accordingly reduce their profit margin and not pass the tax onto clients or risk puninitive measures if they do?

convert them to złoty

I'm strictly a layman in thsi area, but if they converted € and put even more złotys on the market wouldn't that cheapen the Polish currency even more?

weaker Zloty

˛The złoty has firmed up at around 3.93 = $1, down from over 4 złotys. Anyone know what is responsible for that change? To what extent do individual factors impact the exchange rate: internal poltics, inter-currency relationship, world oil prices, US economic performance?

associate hip hop with PiS

I think he included that item in the series as exemplifiyng the many younger votes who voted for Kukiz and PiS. Michnik's term "gówniarze" after all is a demeaning

way of referring to young sh*ts, snot-faces or whippersnappers -- all pointing to their young age. Michnik after all reprerssents the one-time anti-establishmentarian rebel turned old, order-defending reactionary. The younger generation eventually rebels against the old.

Michnikitism

MICHNIK'S "YOUNG SH*TS"
"'We won't give Poland over to the young sh*ts (gówniarzom in the original),' fumed Adam Michnik ahead of the election. Prof. Janusz Czapliński appealed: 'Let us pray that they emigrate thanks to which we will protect the (existing) order.' But the prayers didn't help and the 'order' guaranteeing privileges to the post-communist establishment collapsed. KOD is an operation designed by the establishment and commanded by people of Michnik's generation to invalidate the victory of the 'young sh*ts'," wrote Piotr Lisiewicz

Lisiewicz has clearly drawn up up the battle lines on either side of the political barricade:
"On one side is the following series of associations: blog, emigration, Facebook, videos, re-enactment groups, hip-hop, history, Inka, fans, ex-servicemen, concert, Independence March, mem, stadium setting, portal, Warsaw Uprising, skyrocket, Capt. Pilecki, paramilitary associations, teledisks, Twitter, dish-washing, Doomed Soldiers.

On the other side one finds: 25 years of freedom, celebrities, Gazeta Wyborcza, thick line, cultural institutions, foreign media correspondents. Lions Club, Roundtable, oligarchs, constructive opposition, Polishness is abnormality, PZPR's reformist wing, law courts, pollsters, television broadcasters, universities, entitlement of the nomenklatura and (Owsiak's) Great Christmas

Charity Orchestra."

Poles living abroad would really come back

Most Poles working abroad are not bankers or corproate executives but ordinary people working at normal jobs, raising families and going about their daily affairs. There was no incentive to return to an unreformed, clique-run Platformerian Poland. After PiS clean things up and open new vistas of opportunity, many may well realise their place is in an honest, decent, patriotic and un-mafiaesque Poland.

News / Is Jarosław Kaczyński the new Lech Wałęsa? [74]

Tusk's fault

Tusk wanted to be at centre stage and the thrust of his government's logistic efforts were directed at making that scenario come true. The presidential flight was regarded as a grudgingly accepted also-ran or side-show. Donny Boy made a disgusting spectacle of himself ostentatiously slobbering over and hugging Soviet-era KGP spy Comrade Putin at the Katyń site. Say what you want, but you'd never get either of the Kaczyński twins engaging in such a humiliating display.

News / Is Jarosław Kaczyński the new Lech Wałęsa? [74]

zbrodnia

It may have not been a murder in the classic sense of someone deliberately taking someone else's life, but it was a crying shame for the Tusk gang to agree to have the presidential plane land at the disused, decommissioned, ramshackle Smolensk airport devoid of functioning runway lights. The so-called control tower was nothing but a dingy, ground-level shack. Add to that the fact that the Tusk government wanted to turn the Katyń commemoration into a landmark Donald & Vladimir Reconciliation Show, according also-ran status to the presidential flight All told, that was a crime!

And it makes more sense than Wałęsa's being "for and even against" which is total rubbish!

Merged: Michnikowszczyzna exposed by Ziemkiewicz

Michnikitism, the origins, mystique, agenda and general aura surrounding Adam Michnik and his paper, is thoroughly "transparentised" by one of Poland's leading poltical commentaors Rafał Ziemkiewicz. He sums up Adam by saying he was once a revolutionary who, after tasting power, has long since evolved into a reactionary surrounded by a claque of sycophants dutifully assuring him of his political genius. But Michnik is a loser. Polish voters have swept away all the political movements he supported (ROAD, UD, UW, PO). That frustration perhaps explains the unbridled ferocity which he unleashed against PiS when they won the election. His KPP family environment (Adam was the son of willing pro-Soviet subversives) undoubteldy explains his "soft on commies" approach prompting him to make such outrageous assessments as to call Poland's Soviet puppets Jaruzelski and Kiszczak "men of honour". An excellent read which sheds light on many aspects of post-roundtable Poland.

ageing aunts

On PF there sure is no lack of presumed males who often act like gossipy village biddies and obsessive spinster aunts. And all or most happen to be Brito-Expats. Quite a coincidence, eh?

You seem obsessed with the idea

You seem obsessed with the idea of imprisoning Poland's democratically elected president. Why is that? Because he finally rectified the imbalance of the PO monopoly of 14 PO-appointed juges and only one recommended by PiS. If that is the Platformerian version of fairness, balance and impartiality, then it's better it finally got overturned!

go to prison for a very long time

It seems even more likely that certain subversive expats engaged in anti-government activity will end up in prison first or at best get deported to where they came from.

the type that collaborated?

Did a surgeon in a regime-run children's hospital who saved young lives collaborate? Did a janitor who tified and repaired things in a state school collaborate? Did a tram driver taking people to and from work collaborate? Did a professor of English literature at a state university collaborate? If you define collabroation as workign at a job in a state instution collabroation, then nearly all people going about their daily lives are forced to collaborate to put food on their table and raise their families. Playing the fool again? You know all this, but maybe some PF-ers will finally see you for what you are -- a provocative troll!

How does PIS differ to lets say the Republicans in the US.

There are similarities and differences. Long story short, the US Republicans are a pro-big business party who favour tradition, the family, Chrisitianity (including creationism - literal interpretation of the Bible), patriotism, an "America first" approach, gun rights and, economic liberalism (weak welfare/nanny state). They oppose the leftist/libertine agenda and regard global warming as concocted leftist propaganda.

So, as you can see, PiS share some but not all of their principles.

Quite incredible that

.....Quite incredible that someone like yourself posing to be an expert on Polann and Polish affairs doesn't realise that all commie regimes based their power on Soviet bayonets, the NKVD, domestic security forces and the support of assorted proles, landless peasants and common thugs. They lacked expertise

on how to organise, run and design things, hence engineers and educated people were worth their weight in gold and they could affair to overlook their partylessness.

One question: why has Rajmund been singled out for your especial scruitiny and criticism? He played no major rule on the public scene -- just one of many.

who commanded the security services

Coincidentally, one ethnic group comprising 1% of Poland's population held 40% of the posts in the security apparatus including nearly all its executive positions.
It's best not to name that group to avoid being accused of anti-Norwegianism, anit-Bolivianism or whatever. Amongst he most prominent were (real names in brackets where applicable):

Roman Romkowski (Menasze Grynszpan), Mieczysław Mietkowski (Mojżesz Bobrowicki, Leon Andrzejewski (Ajzen Lajb Wolf), Józef Różański (Goldberg), Edward Kalecki (Ela Szymon Tenenbaum), Kamil Warman, Leon (Lew) Gangel, Ludwik (Salomon) Przysuski, Michał Rosner, Hanna Wierbłowska, Michał (Mojżesz) Taboryski, Zygmunt Braude, Witold Gotman, Feliks (Fiszel) Goldsztajn, Jadwiga Piasecka, Zygmunt (Nechemiasz) Okręt, Roman Garbowski (Rachamiel Garber), Józef Czaplicki (Izydor Kurc), Julian Konar (Jakub Julian Kohn), Leon (Lejba) Rubinstein, Michał (Mojżesz) Taboryski, Józef Czaplicki (Izydor Kurc), Leon Andrzejewski (Ajzen Lajb Wolf), Aleksander Wolski (Salomon Aleksander Dyszko), Józef Kratko, Bernard Konieczny (Bernstein), Julia Brystiger, Jerzy Dagobert £ańcut, Wacław Komar (Mendel Kossoj), Marek Fink (Mark Finkienberg), Józef Światło (Izaak Fleischfarb) and Henryk Piasecki (Chaim Izrael Pesses).

Constitution

Sejm MPs were defending their fatcat jobs and knew ex-commies ruled the roost at that time. More telling were the results of the national refererndum:

a) odpowiedzi "TAK" udzieliło 6 398 316 głosujących,

b) odpowiedzi "NIE" udzieliło 5 571 439 głosujących.

Less than half of all eligible voters took part, so only a small minority voted for the ex-commie constitution, now guarded over by ex-commie Rzepliński.

Niech żyje koryto!
