News / Berlin terrorist attack -- Poland's ethnic homogeneity a true blessing [436]

The 2015 quotas weren't agreed to by all members namely eastern eu members and Poland definitely wasnt consulted in this decision. The EU imposed a quota on Poland with PO ruling st the time. The only source I can find where this would be legally valid is under the 3 pillars which has since been amended. However I'm not a legal expert esp on eu law so a citation or at least a treatys amendment that spells this out could offer some insight if a poster can find it. One of the reasons why PO lost the PL elections is because they agreed to take in migrants which poles saw as a slippery slope. Its not about the 4k 7k or whatever - Poland could have easily accommodated those people but that's not the point. Its the principle of slippery slope. If the eu says take 7 thousand they can then demand more and demand other things that violate sovereign decisions which are up to citizens and their elected officials. Ill also mention that according to CBOS, 3/4 of Poles surveyed are against migration from middle east and Africa (around half of PO/Nowoczesna supporters are against and 90% of Kukiz/Pis supporters are against). The protests against this were huge including 150k in Warsaw which msm in the west didn't cover at all.

More and more people are starting to realize that bleeding hearts who ride in limos and jets in offices thousands of kilometers away who aren't even elected officials are deciding the fate of their country and infringing on sovereignty. There's a line between helping people and hurting the citizens of your country. Many eu officials don't care about what polish or hungsrian citizens what though or even the negative impacts of what migration has done to French citizens in calais. The uk had to pay for a wall on French soil... Very sad and very telling what state were in. EU was originally made to be an economic union which promotes free movement of people and goods. But the eu officials wanted more political power in member states and hence came the treaty of Lisbon. At least with it came the option to secede as the uk took advantage of.

Poland should have chosen to opt out of the eu influencing its home and justice affairs like the UK and Ireland. We can settle our own political issues we don't need someone from Brussels telling us that the rule of law is in danger as if Poland is early 2000s Iraq or something.

They also tend to be the poorest least educated and least developed places in the world. Wealthy industrialized nations realized a long time ago that there was less and less need to have 5 6 7 or more kids as people moved away from agriculture and into industry and commerce. Also people in industrialized nations don't send their kids to schools where they spend years memorizing religious books. Most these people aren't educated in skills needed for the modern world and hence few of these people have much to offer besides unskilled labor. Its even hard to get them to do that once they come to europe as the welfare payments in europe are more to them than any decent job they can get back home.

USA eu and China are still top 3 in terms of GDP and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If anything the BRICS are the future. Even countries that have a large nominal GDP with low gdp per capita like Mexico have strict immigration policies. Why? Because they don't want a deluge from even poorer countries like Guatemala and Honduras. The Mexicans laugh at us immigration policy. A bunch of white cat ladies, antifa basement dwellers, snowflakes interspersed with a few actual Mexicans protest America's immigration practices yet only the Mexicans realize that's it far more lenient than their own country's. Same with tons of other countries. Look at China it is the most populous country in the world. Yet their immigration is extremely strict and even just residency is very hard to get. English teachers that work there take a short school sponsored vacation every 3 months or so to comply with immigration laws since its easier to do that than try to get residency. Meanwhile China's biggest export has become people now. Every country in the world there's Chinese. They're the new colonizers from Jamaica to Mongolia to Poland to Africa. The country is full so they're going abroad. Some countries like canada and apparently now Hungary offer millionaire Chinese a fast track to citizenship. Tens of thousands if not over 100k have settled in Vancouver already.

Its time europe and us follow other country's example and not be a bunch of pu$$ie$. The immigration officials need to only ask one question to an applicant - how will you benefit the country? And if the answer isn't satisfactory back to your hut. No more of this gimme gimme gimme.

Life / No Health care in Poland for the elderly? Insulin injections. [8]

@johnny reb

My mom does that exact same thing lol. Not so much for me to like not leave her but more so to help her around my rents house w things like cleaning laundry etc. I usually stop by like 2 3 times a week usually 2 times like to help out n then dinner on a weekend. I don't rly mind it bc they've helped me out when I was younger. I sure as hell will never put my rents in a nursing home unless they're like extremely sick n need constant care.

@jack1234

There are insulin pens. Idk the availability in poland as I'm not diabetic but I do know from working in the healthcare industry in the us that the pens have pretty much replaced the syringe and insulin vial method.

My grandma gets like a helper from the state for like 3 or 4 days a week but they help her with mostly house keeping groceries etc.

You'll habe to call ZUS or just find some young polish girl to watch her for like 12 zloty an hour or whatever the appropriate wage is. Giving an insulin shot isn't complicated

News / Berlin terrorist attack -- Poland's ethnic homogeneity a true blessing [436]

@kondzior

Well I'm glad someone else sees what's really going on... Poles have had their country and their sovereignty taken away far too many times. We won't let it happen again at least not without a fight. Were not going to let some unelected commissar dictate what we should be doing in our own country. We want to stay in the EU but not at the expense of giving up our sovereignty especially when it comes to things like immigration policy. No one told us to take in 1 mln Ukrainians. We did that on our own and imo it was a good decision.

News / Berlin terrorist attack -- Poland's ethnic homogeneity a true blessing [436]

If the people, the politicians, the military and the cops had some balls this kind of stuff wouldn't happen nearly as often as it does. Muslims have been trying for over a millennium to invade europe, establish mosques, and force their laws and customs on European society. Wars were fought over this where countless people died. Heroes like charlemange, Sobieski iii, Charles the hammer Martel and many other including the unsung heroes ones are rolling in their graves. The west let them in with open arms and look what happened. Now they're sick of all the problems this mass migration caused and want Poland and the v4 to help with something that they were never consulted on nor agreed to back in 2015.

I'm willing to bet that migration from the west namely native French German etc is going to pick up in eastern Europe. In France thousands of Jews leave each year for Israel because they're sick of being verbally abused and even physically assaulted by the newly arrived migrants. Even in wroclaw I meet more and more people leaving the west and bringing their families to Poland and they absolutely love it.

Funny how a million Ukrainians can cone to Poland and there's hardly any issues whatsoever yet when a million Muslims came now to europe we have non stop terror attacks, rapes, murders, riots, cars and even police stations being set on fire. All sorts of madness. If Poland is to accept Muslims it has to be in very small numbers, vet them extremely carefully and verify who they actually are so you don't have a scenario like in Germany where tons of migrants with no documents were let in and not vetted at all and most importantly spread them out so they don't create 'special zones' rife with unemployment crime and a haven for extremists. Also offer them social services and job training so they and their families which often includes a soccer team of kids aren't leeching off the state.

UK, Ireland / British court lets violent Polish racists walk free [61]

@dolnoslask

I think it had to do more with eu entry. Poles have been coming to north America and South America as well as Germany before that for decades in huge numbers even during prl timea. They went to England recently bc they figured that they'd have the best work and career opportunities in europe.

However such a plan could be possible. Fidel Castro did it and bragged 'i have flushed the toilets of Cuba onto America'

UK, Ireland / British court lets violent Polish racists walk free [61]

It seems like all the criminals left Poland and went to the uk lol. I remember reading a uk website that had an article on like 10 dangerous fugitives from Poland everything from an old school mob boss to.murderers and rapists to fraudsters. One guy who was a fugitive from Poland was caught while working at a subway making sandwiches.

Idk why it seems like poles cause a lot of crime in uk more so than all of the places they settled. You don't hear very often about rlyf really bad crimes in Canada is Germany Australia etc commuted by poles. I wonder why its so much higher in uk yet there's also hundreds of thousands if not millions of fob or 1st gen poles in north america

Polska dla polakow dla przekretow I bydlakow

Speaking of Londonistan (term used by al Jazeera after sadiq khans victory), there's a book with that title as well.

Personally I don't mind Muslim people as I've worked and hung out with quite a few. Most of the ones I've met at work or through friends are okay and not very religious. What bugs me is how all these so called refugees, most of whom are male economic migrants, and create havoc in the streets, march with sharia 4 uk/Belgium/Germany while chanting (country) go to hell, along with the constant terror attacks. Thank goodness Poland doesn't have to deal with that. I don't think Poland would even habe all that much of a problem accepting a few thousand refugees, real refugees not economic migrants, from the middle east if we were able to conduct our own extremely thorough vetting

UK, Ireland / Polish man jailed for using dog to attack Muslims leaving mosque [45]

No one. Nonetheless I just find it strange how people will go on about some polish guy who sicked his dog on some muslim woman causing apparently minor injury yet there's no condemnation or shock when a teenager murders a polish dude.

UK, Ireland / Polish man jailed for using dog to attack Muslims leaving mosque [45]

@delphiandomine

Probably after serving a jail sentence for the crimes committed locally. That's usually what happens around the world although each country has its own unique laws. Generally if an illegal immigrant is convicted of a crime that the judge decides is worthy of a jail/prison sentence they will he immediately deported. Like literally immigration officials will pick the person up on the last day of their sentence or if there's a lag they'll send em yo jail for a few weeks or months till immigration arrives and reports them. Although sometimes people fall through the cracks esp in sanctuary cities where immigration officials aren't given names or access to illegals who have committed crimes. That's how it is in the us any way uk is most likely different in some ways

Why no mention of the British teenager who just got sentenced to only 3.5 years for murdering a pole? He has previous convictions for illegal weapons and threatening behavior yet he only gets a few years for killing someone.

If were going to talk about crimes and such that poles commit we ought to also discuss such things that happen to poles.

Work / Diary of a Teacher in Poland [181]

Cheat sheets aka sciagi are pretty common in the pl education system. But yes a teachers policy should be clear - either allow a specific amount of sciagi say no more than 1 index card or none at all.

Love / Polish girls are outstanding in terms of their moral conducts as compared to western girls. [29]

@Adeebee

You may have a lil trouble with that in all honesty. There are some polish girls that date outside their race and the number is increasing gradually but its still rather rare with marriage being even rarer. If you have uk us etc citizenship and/or are wealthy youll have a leg up but that means the girl will like you for what you have and not who you are.

Poland is a very homogenous country. Dating outside your race esp for a woman is still considered a bit taboo by many in society. However views are gradually changing as poles have been more and more exposed to the rest of the world. Many have lived in multi ethnic countries like us uk Germany etc so they've got to meet people of other nationalities and have changed their views. Nonetheless imo you'll still have a hard time finding a polish girl in poland to date let alone marry. There's a good chance her family and friends would criticize her for dating a black guy and not accept you. Like I said though these attitudes are gradually changing but nonetheless thats still how it is. I was born and raised in poland and travel there a lot and in all.my visits I can count on one hand the amount of times ive seen a black and polish couple.

Work / Diary of a Teacher in Poland [181]

@delphiandomine

Grades and standardized test scores are typically the most important things that colleges look at. I would highly encourage you to use them, even if in a limited amount since yes there are plenty of other ways to grade students' progress, but nonetheless 'formal' tests set a benchmark and prepares students for the inevitability of having to take timed tests in the future - especially if they wish to go to college.

I found that in Poland though in general (granted I only went to like the first two grades) there was more emphasis on things like verbal exams, participation, etc. that made up a student's final grade rather than tests alone.

Also I wanted to ask, what exactly is matura? Is that a test that students take at the end of each year or is it more like just at the end of grade school/high school? What is it composed of (like what topics, types of questions, etc.) and when do students typically take it?

Certain western European countries def aren't as safe as they use to be I.e. France esp when there's mass rioting or near train stations where migrants like to congregate to sell drugs pickpocket etc. However if you're aware of your surroundings and take certain precautions you're unlikely to encounter problems regardless of where you are.

Here is specifically homicides worldwide

News / Tragedy of Polish couple; Polish woman repeatedly raped in Italy, her partner almost killed [101]

Apparently the suspects also allegedly raped a Peruvian woman hours after their rape of the polish girl. The Congolese man and the only adult of the group was still wearing the polish mans watch according to an article I read on this case.

Two women were the ones to slap the cuffs on the 4th suspect who was aboard a train and hoped to escape to France. The Italians wanted to make the arrest of the guy by 2 women like a symbolic thing that European women won't tolerate this and kind as a display of feminism.

Idk what kind of punishments these people face but unfortunately in many countries esp the us sentences can be quite low. I remember a member of the prominent duke family was found guilty of sexual assault and received probation bc the judge felt he wouldn't fair well in prison. Even others sadly only end up doing a few years for committing such an awful crime. Its typically people w multiple violent felony convictions that receive longer 10 20 plus year sentenced. Sadly justice isn't really 'for all' here and apparently in many other countries too.

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

@jon357

Also jon I primarily live in the us but i've been coming to Poland regularly since I was born there. I speak polish, am a citizen and have a lil property there. I also travel quite a bit for work and pleasure all over the us north am latam Europe and a once or twice to places like India China Israel etc. I've seen a lot of the changes not just Poland but other places too.

But yes you're right you rly have to go there to experience It yourself and network join clubs etc. You prolly have the most or at least among the most info on warsaw n pl in general since it sounds like you've been there a while. Im familiar with the slask area. Im hoping to resettle permanently to Poland in the next 2 3 years n have starting planning accordingly. I just don't feel the same not being in my motherland w all my family.

@iwilldoit
2000 zlotys is low even by polish standards. Usually people spend around 2k 2.5k that much just for rent in a cheaper area. You'll live a very Spartan lifestyle and most likely have times where you're stressing over how to afford basic things. If say you and you're gf were bringing in 2k each that's a bit more doable but still pretty low by pl standards.

If you were qualified enough to get a job in customer service maybe you can try to get a similar level position in sales which generally pays more. I've worked in b2b sales for a while and applied to a few places like Google in wroclaw in the past where they offered 2k usd plus commission so one could expect the total comp to average around 3k a month, 3.5k up to 4k once someone's established w a book a business. I do know that Google also has a branch in krakow. Perhaps you could apply there.

@avalon85
9K zloty is considered a pretty good salary in poland. You won't live the high life or likely be able to save much depending on your tastes but you'll be comfortably. Imo you should count on spending at least 2.5k 3k a month going towards rent and bills at a small lower end smaller place in a larger pl city.

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

@jon357

Not totally. The pis government signed new trade deals, continued policies they saw as positive, continued to promote immigration from Ukraine, promoted higher birth rates w their 500 zlotys program, they're meeping debt to GDP low, among other things. Poland has pretty much grown nonstop since the 90s so it wasn't just one party doing it. It was a combination of forces many even beyond local political forces.

Hungary has opened its doors a ton to China. They're even following a similar policy to Canada basically pushing wealthy Chinese to the front of the line for receiving residency and eventually citizenship. Poland is a close 2nd and trade is increasing. Many people have grown wealthy importing/exporting certain products. Ties have grown a lot w these countries lately. Plus poland still has its traditional trading partner while seeing new opportunities like China and closer relations w us. I hear trump is due for a 2nd visit to Poland.

Like I said tho there's good n bad in both regimes.

Nope you're right. Its mostly ukranians but the numbers of Indians Chinese etc is increasing slowly but surely. Also were talking about poland - a pretty small country on the world stage and regionally one that's not as rich as other eu countries. Some ppl came during prl years esp from vietnam as part of the commie n socialist country's cultural n work exchanges. Some poles would go to Libya Iraq etc for work.

The stats are very promising though. Poland GDP growth % has been greater than Germany's every year since 93. Unemployments went down from 8% approx in 2015 to 4.8% as of this month. Even 8% is great esp for europe. Were doing rly well. Tons of opportunity altho wages at companies are a quite a bit behind the west however wages have been growing steadily and it'll most likely continue. I don't think wages will ever be as high as the wests at least prolly not in the foreseeable future
