News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

We will do exactly the opposite of what you suggest as you are Russian...

Funny how these pro-Russia trolls have popped up, claiming to be Polish isn't it?

Anyone genuinely interested in Poland's security would see the deep integration into NATO's military command as being an absolute priority.

Travel / Which way from Poland to Croatia.... [30]

There's a perfectly acceptable, decent, mostly expressway/motorway connection between Warsaw and the border with the Czech Republic.

News / Poland -- Europe's only counterweight to Russia [271]

and it is an opportunity that Poland would be foolish to miss to regain Lwów.

You clearly have no idea what "regaining L'viv" would involve. Here's a clue : Western Ukraine is very, very poor in many areas, and the population is openly hostile to any idea of any foreign power retaking their land. Poland is struggling to get the poorest Eastern regions up to the living standards of richer provinces, so what makes you think she has the money to incorporate a considerably poorer region?

Furthermore, the Polish population there is almost totally assimilated.

Trump is not going to renegotiate anything where Ukraine is concerned, and most of all, he's not going to suddenly do deals with the Russkies after riding an isolationist platform.

and the defense of the U.S. nuclear umbrella is all that Poland needs to prevent a war with Russia.

Hahahahaha. Naive, and only an American could speak like that. History shows us that the United States doctrine in a defensive war in Europe is to fall back to certain defensive points and then use tactical nuclear weapons on the battlefield to ensure that the hinterland doesn't fall. The United States is not going to throw resources to defend Lublin or Białystok.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

The government is bound by the Constitution, which is above the government in Polish legal theory.

If you believe that the government has the right to do what they want regardless of what the Constitution says, then the PRL is calling and they want their favourite son back.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

GW has speculated that in exchange for the return of the Tupolev wreckage Kaczyński will agree to mount an anti-Western crusade thereby playing into Putin's hands.

Quite possible. A lot of people have been remarking how PiS have swung heavily towards Russia, and certainly Kaczyński has far more in common with Putin than Obama.

Having said that, there's no way this government will last for long if they're openly hostile to America.

Law / Receiving a speeding fine (via camera) in Poland with a British licence [27]

Basically, if they confiscate your licence (because you've lost it under the Polish rules) - they take it off you and send it back to the UK (or the Embassy, I forget which...) with a note that you've been banned from driving in Poland. You can obviously ask for it back, but the ban still applies and they've got a record of it.

So if you want to drive again in Poland, you need to unban yourself - which means doing a Polish driving test or whatever the rules require you to do.

Law / Receiving a speeding fine (via camera) in Poland with a British licence [27]

Which means basically he cant get points.

No. He gets 24 points in Poland, they will take his licence and return it to the UK with the information that he's been banned from driving in Poland. He'll then be subject to the Polish rules surrounding regaining his licence - or he can recover his UK licence which is now banned from being used on Polish roads.

Law / Receiving a speeding fine (via camera) in Poland with a British licence [27]

You cannot get points on your UK licence, end of

Not "end of". He now has a 'ghost licence' created, which has 4 points on it.

So I just fill in the paperwork and send it off? I don't have NIP only PESEL.

Yup, just send it off. They'll link the points to your PESEL (in fact, everyone has points linked to their PESEL or ID number in the absence of a PESEL) and that's that. You've got 24 points a year to play with, so no stress.

Law / Obtaining residence permit in Poland by setting up a company or via permit from another EU country [13]

We are looking to set up a limited liability company.

Limited liability companies are difficult to operate in Poland, so are you sure this is the path you want to go down?

No minimum percentages and so on, although 5000PLN minimum starting capital is required.

do I go to Poland on a tourist visa and apply for a residence permit prior to the 3 months period expiring or

You deal with everything here on the tourist visa.

Do you also happen to know of immigration agent to assist in this matter?

Oh, and yes, I do. I know someone that can handle everything for you remotely. I've sent you a PM with his contact details.

Real Estate / New land law legislation in Poland will make life very difficult when it comes to selling. [21]

My father and I have no will left from her.

Then the statutory rules of inheritance apply in the case of the Polish property.

That means the land is shared between your father and the children, although your father must inherit 1/4th as a minimum (I think).
Tell your father to stop being a greedy so and so and to sell it to you.

Law / Obtaining residence permit in Poland by setting up a company or via permit from another EU country [13]

1) setting up a company on the basis of conducting business activity to obtain a residence permit or

This is the way to do it. What you want to do is for him to establish the company (a sole trader will do) and then he can apply for the residence/work permit for you. Job done.

Poland will simply not recognise your relationship for the purposes of residency, unfortunately.

Real Estate / Flat prices in Gdansk Old town? [21]

Otodom.pl or gratka.pl is your best bet. Taking a loan will be impossible if you don't have Polish income and Polish residency.

Life / How do you celebrate Easter in Poland? [29]

Is it also the custom there for fmailies in the evening to visit the tableaux in various Old Town churches?

No custom as such, but people do visit them. There's one church that has always a decent one that I'm fond of visiting.

Do the tableaux convey various moral or social messages or are they pure aesthetic creations??

There's always a moral/social message behind them, isn't there? But (I don't know if this is specific to Poznań) - I notice they tend to show Christ after his death. I always found them to be very peaceful scenes, at least.

News / What kind of Poland do most Poles want? [101]

Interesting question Polonius - do you think most Poles would agree with Singaporean living conditions and their idea of democracy?

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

I do remember Tusk's campaign promise of an "oszczędne państwo" (economical state) that would slash red tape.

You can start a business in 5 minutes these days.
You can do a lot of things through the ePUAP platform.
Tax returns are electronically generated if you don't have anything extra to add.
Your ZUS records are all online and updated daily.

The list goes on...

News / What kind of Poland do most Poles want? [101]

a majority would porbably put cheap beer, vodka and cigarettes above the other options you listed and to hell with the TK, constitution, KOD and terrorist threats.

I wish I didn't agree with you on this, but it's pretty much true.

I'm pretty certain that had communism gone the way of China in Poland, the country would still be communist today.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

But foreign plotters who wish to incite mayhem and riot while hiding behind a political banner would "pose a threat to national security"

That sounds exactly like the kind of excuse used by Communist governments in the past to expel the opposition.

Given that this thread is about KOD, can you tell us when KOD have been involved in mayhem and rioting?

I could never Imagine for one moment out government would expel one of our citizens demonstrating against the government.

Why? Plenty of Poles were invited for a chat, stripped of their citizenship and given papers valid for a few days only so that they could leave the country. Others had their citizenship stripped at the border. Happened before, could easily happen again.

This could apply foreigners who wish to undermine or overthrow the democratically elected government of Poland

I would personally love to see Poland expelling people involved with opposition politics. It's a tactic straight out of Communist times, and the payout from the European courts would be substantial.
