Travel / The Magnificent Beauty of Nature's Landscapes in Poland [44]

Interesting, by the way, that you love creating your own theories which are too often far from true...: ):):):):):) Where did you get this info from?? From an old Nazi guidebook? :):):):)

Travel / The Magnificent Beauty of Nature's Landscapes in Poland [44]

A few minutes ago a forum member, fan of travelling, advised me to visit Alaska or Australia for superb views. I thanked him politely and replied I wasn`t interested. Quite right so because there is no need to leave Poland to get great sights which can satisfy all tastes.

Table Mountains, as I promised.

Life / Polish vs British vs American - Clash of cultures [390]

Aaaah... memories of the wilderness!!! Good! :):):):)

Ok, I will show you the Table Mountains where I want to spend next summer. Check in a new thread and let`s leave this one alone or we will lose our precious posts.

Is this clash still valid?
In Britain, a formal boss adresses his secretery, called Kate Smith, as Miss/Mrs Smith.

In Poland, he says Panno/Pani Kasiu - Miss/Mrs Kate.

Not necessary, but you can go and get me a drink instead.

Why not? What do you fancy?

No, but running my own business. :)

It isn`t too big if you can`t hire a secretary..... :):):):):)

I thought you've been to the Table Mountains a

Didn`t you read I am planning a trip next summer???

pawian: You spend too much time in virtual reality.
Hey, I agree. :)

Are you retired?

Go out and expand your horizons!.

Sorry, I am not so interested. :):):) Thank you, anyway.

You have photos?

You have google? :):):):)

You don't know what real wilderness means, Pawian.

Of course, but I don`t think you do, either. :):):) You spend too much time in virtual reality. :):):):) Virtual traveller...... quite easy...

Have you ever been to one of the places I've mentioned? If not, try it (for example Alaska or the Kimberleys in Australia) and then we'll talk again.

I don`t need to go to Alaska or Australia. It is enough to go to the Table Mountains in Poland. I am planning a trip next summer :):):):)

Being in a real wilderness is something you have to experience at least once in your lifetime. And no, Poland doesn't offer that - you'll need to go further East for that.

Sorry, but it seems your knowledge of Poland is very superficial.

Genealogy / Polish childs name in church book - give me opinion what it says [6]

It is a mystery that forum`s genealogists will surely resolve but you need to wait a little as they always go to fitness/wellness center on Wednesdays and come back late.

For the time being, a little crib:

'Wide open spaces' does not automatically equal 'flat'. It also means

Ok, but even with that correction your picture of a mountain lake cannot be classified as a wide open space! :):):):) To be honest, it is quite the opposite - I know people who would consider your site very claustrophobic. :):):)

Look here what is commonly associated with the phrase:
google.pl/search?hl=pl&biw=1221&bih=675&q=wide+open+space&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bpcl=40096503&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=xhzSUPSyH9KO4gStqoCQBw

Still, open or not, wide or narrow, Poland offers similar sights. :):):):):)

But this isn`t the thread for such discussion and please stop, because each next post might be considered off topic.

Or not? Hey, I have an idea for another clash...... :):):):)

pawian: But do you really think such views aren`t available in Poland...

Hey, why are you so wayward? First you show a photo of a lake encircled by mountains in the background, and then you jump to wide open spaces......

Come on....... Are you tired or what????

Fishing is very popular here, Pawian, and there's nothing better than fresh salmon or trout.

Look, fishing is popular everywhere. :):):):) :):)

But you live in Poland

Yes, and I wouldn`t trade places with you! :):):)

I stopped buying fish for my home fish tank (not aquarium!) when I finished high school. Today I buy live fish for my bath tub.

That is why, I live in Poland, not elsewhere. :):):):)

Teutonic Castle in Reszel.

You used a nice perspective! It doesn`t look so impressive in reality.

In Polish hypermarkets, in seafood sections/aisles, in smaller shoips and even in streets you can often see giant fish tanks with live fish. Carp, of course, but if you think they offer it live only at Christmas time, you are wrong. Not all, but some work all year round.

Polish law forbids to take live carp in shopping bags. So, the fish is either killed on the premises or a shopper has to bring a bucket.

News / Failures of Poland and Tusk`s government [191]

this is how relaxed the Greeks are

Of course. They are still relaxed enough. They are only a bit annoyed - they realised that they would have to pay taxes for their swimming pools which so far they had managed to hide from the tax office.

Wouldn`t you be annoyed???

News / Polish people's criticism of European Union [104]

Despite being confirmed Euro enthusiasts, with average support at 80%, the highest in EU, Poles sometimes feel wronged by Brussels eurocrats and politicians.

E.g.,

This article reads that due to good weather, sugar beetroot crops were at record level this year. But euro quotas imposed on Poland`s sugar production say it is illegal to produce more than we are allowed to.

To make matters worse, the consumption of sugar in Poland is higher that our production and we regularly have to import about 200.000 tonnes each year.

Sugar prices have doubled over a few years. And a dozen or more sugar plants have been closed in Poland too.

No wonder that both farmers, sugar plant workers and average sugar shoppers feel a bit angry about it.
