News / Berlin terrorist attack -- Poland's ethnic homogeneity a true blessing [436]

The Muslim community in Poland is around 30,000 strong made up of Tatars,Chechens and Students from ME/Asia.

IINM there's only a few thousand Tatars left (centuries of intermarriage) Chechens don't actually stay in Poland (which is good because Chechens turn any place they're in into .... Chechnia) and Students mostly don't stay in Poland after graduation.

Frauke Petry would be a horror for Germany

Her best feature is simple: She actually seems to care about Germany and Germans. Merkel makes no such impression - she's all about virtue signalling and diluting anything German about Germany.

Again, the choice is either Petry or Civil War. Which do you want?

No. There are no other (realistic) options. The other options are fantasies that you need to lose.

Work / Information about jobs for Indian students in Poland [286]

Can international Student work during studies in poland?

Unless you're pretty fluent in Polish, then.... you're unemployable (there is no job where employing you makes sense for the employer).

ly those with legitimate travel documents inlcuding fingerprints and ideally DNA indication would qualify for further vetting, not automatic entry.

Okay, that's a stretch. If they could provide that there would probably be no need to leave their countries..

One problem was a lack of qualified Arabic interpreters (Arabic and Turkish are vastly understudied in Europe). Typically they rely on semi-trained bilingualish people. But... the translators were required to translate what people said and not allowed to give their own judgements so they couldn't point out that the guy claiming to be from Syria had a strong North African accent (Arabic accents are very distinct to fluent/native users).

If what Merkel has actually called for had come about, that truck driver wouldn't have been in Germany

And if she had called for purple fairy unicorns to be issued to all citizens then that would have been about as realistic as what she did call for.

If she doesn't realize that then she's either mentally ill (and unfit for office) or stupid (and unfit for office).

There is no other option.

I was hoping that it'd be different in Poland, but reading this thread, I see the same attitude in many posts as in the rest of Europe-

Don't believe what you read here. Almost no one in Poland supports Merkel's failed policy. Poles are very much into cultural survival when push comes to shove and not like your gutless countrymen (too bad, there's a lot to like in Germany, but Germans aren't willing to stand up for their own culture).

Care to quote me saying any such thing

You clearly don't think it reflects badly on Merkel's refugee policy (or the outdated, irrelevant international law on refugees).

If you want to live in a country which refuses to honour its obligations

Depends on what the obligations are and how they were entered into. Poland had a whole bunch of obligations to the USSR it was able to walk away from. That was a very good thing.

That's something Merkel actually did say, for those of us who do care what people did and didn't say.

Who cares what she says when they can't actually return them? North African countries are notorious for not cooperating in the return of undesirables like the Christmas truck driver whose crime you think is no big deal.

It can be quickly established hat someone is not a real refugee but then since they've destroyed their documents and their own countries don't want them back (because they're criminals) Germany is stuck with them.

That is a seriously screwed up system and one that Poland absolutly should no participate in.

or, turns her back on those who desperately need the help of a rich, industrial nation.

But what right do Moroccans or Pakistanis or Tunisians (like the truck driver) have to claim refugee status? Even Iraqis and Afghanis have no real claim to refugee status.

IT's not Germany's job to fix the scores of countries with dysfunctional governments, atrophied social norms and terrible education.

Whether it would or world not be

You don't think that two billion people showing up in Germany and claiming to be refugees would be a threat to Germany's existence? You're demented.

For whatever reason Merkel wanted the non-refugees (every single one of whom passed through numerous safe countries before arriving in Germany).

Now one of Merkel's pets has murdered a Polish citizen and a dozen other people and you're quibbling about whether she ever used the word "invite". How many more people wil have to be murdered before you admit her policy was a failure and that Poland should not enable it by accepting her ersatz refugees?

the non-existent German constitution

The don't call it a constitution but it functions as one and the body that judges whether legislation is in accordance with the Basic Law is called the Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht). So that is really splitting hairs.

imminent danger to the existence or free democratic basic order of the Federation or Lands.

How would the arrival of billions of people (which your reading of the refugee act would not prevent) _not_ be an imminent danger to the existence of a free and democratic basic order.

And Merkels plea for pseudo refugees to come marching up through the balkans has absolutely created friction between the state of Bavaria (where they first showed up and the federal government).

That was just one million or so. How would GErmany ever survive the two billion refugees you think it woud be obliged to take in.

Merkel allowing a million unvetted migrants into her country is the worst political decision in the last 50 years in Europe. Why are you trying to pretend it's been anything but a disaster for all concerned?

Given that the convention says "any", there would be a legal obligation to let in thousands of millions of people who claimed to be refugees if they turned up.

In that case the law is clearly in violation of article 91 of the German constitution in that the presence of billions of people in Germany would constitute a threat to the free and democratic legal order. Therefore the whole thing is null and void and we are right back where we started.

Merkel had no obligation to tell hundreds of thousands of unvetted migrants they would be welcomed in Germany.

The United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, Geneva, 28 July 1951, as modified by the Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees, New York, 31 January 1967

So that reads: "a country is obliged to accept hundreds of thousands of unvetted people claiming to be refugees", is that what you're saying?

You can find the exact quote because it doesn't exist and Merkel was under no legal obligation to allow hundreds of thousands of unvetted migrants into Germany.

1951.

Where precisely does it say "a country is obliged to accept hundreds of thousands of unvetted people claiming to be refugees"?

You used to be one of the reasonable posters

I'm THE reasonable poster. I look at each issue on its own rather than take my cues from any other 'authority'. The preponderence of evidence is that

PiS is a bad government,

Merkel's refugee policy is an unmitigated disaster that will bring ever more suffering to German citizens until most of the arrivals since September 2015 are out of Germany where they belong.

But the master baiter demands an eplicit quote such as: "I, Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, hereby invite Middle Eastern and African refugees to Germany."

He's very spergy when it suits him and has no sense whatsoever of scale (or of right and wrong all too often).

Sad, sad, little liar.

News / Berlin terrorist attack -- Poland's ethnic homogeneity a true blessing [436]

Because Germany is a better place to be than where they are from.

So why is that Germany's problem?

Germany meeting her obligations under international law and processing asylum requests so as to accept those in need of protection and to deport those who didn't

Since when is it an obligation under international law to accept hundreds of thousands of completely unvetted migrants?

And they rejected Mr Christmas Market Killer months ago. Why was he still in Germany? Why is any Tunisian or Moroccan or Pakistani claiming 'refugee' status still in Germany?

It's almost as if "international law" in refugee matters is hopelessly out of date and ethically bankrupt.

What would you tell the relatives of those killed by the Chritmas Market Trucker (or the Polish citizen he killed)?

you are entirely unable to quote Merkel inviting refugees to Germany

If Merkel didn't want them there then why are they there?

They showed up against MErkel's wishes?

They just magically appeared?

She wanted them to come to Germany and issued assurances they would be welcome.

What did " "Deutschland ist ein starkes Land. Das Motiv, mit dem wir an diese Dinge herangehen, muss sein: Wir haben so vieles geschafft - wir schaffen das!" refer to? (Germany is a strong country, the motive with which we approach this must be "we've done so much - we can do this")

No it isn't: a fairly large chunk of the blame goes to liars such as Wulky, Cartman and Polly

You are becoming a parody of yourself. This is unworthy of you. Sad, sad little liar.

I have yet to see any "reasonable" solutions.

The reasonable thing would not have put Euroe in this situation in the first place! _That_ would have been very reasonble.

Having decided to give that a miss, most of the solutions now will be ugly and/or "unreasonable". The only question is who is going to bear the brunt of the ugliness and unreasonableness.

1. European citizens

2. European governments

3. Non-European migrants

There is no other option.

European governments are pretty clear that European citizens are to bear the brunt of terror attacks (Nice, Berlin) and sexual exploitation (Rotherham) and a surge in petty and serious crimes (Sweden, Germany etc).

Increasingly European citizens are not that enthusiastic...

News / The first PiS led government in 2005 lasted just over 2 years in Poland. [129]

the entire losers' associaton are acting like pouty little brats in a sand pit

I do realize that positions of principal are hard for you to understand (you've already admitted you care nothing for rule of law).

that the whole Polish nation is just tapping their forehead

Polonius3 =/= "whole Polish nation", what is it? Over 50 % of Poles think that PiS has "weakened democracy" in Poland? Or is democracy another principal you care nothing for?

their duty to Allah is to convert the world to Islam

It's Christians' duty to convert the world to Christianity... How many heathens have you converted?

There are actors who want to spread conversion (like US ally Saudi Arabia) but the problems besetting muslims in Europe are usually more related to cultural issues (the dominant values in muslim countries are very different from the dominant values in Europe) exacerbated by the tendency for muslims to confuse cultural and religious practices. Europe is not a climate that muslims thrive in (unless you count welfare dependency as 'thriving') but the biggest problems are cultral, not religious.

Wrong, they have no intentions of assimilating

I've known muslims who can and do assimilate and who take a completely reasonable approach to their religion. They tend to be the minority but it does happen.

There's a chance that Muslims in Europe will end up like the ethnic Japanese in the US during WW2, or worse

Or most will simply decide thier home countries (that most of them are more attached to anyway) are better for them than Europe.

I don't see mass organized violence or anything like that. I do see them being given the choice - assimilate (culturally) or leave and I think some will stay and assimilate and others will leave.

Life / COMBATING "POLACK" JOKES [460]

moved from

made the term "dumb Polack" kind of "popular" amongst some kids in the cities

Polish jokes seemed to peak in the US in the late 60s to early 70s. I remember hearing Polack jokes when I had no idea what a Polack was. There were I realize now, some people in the town I grew up with Czech heritage (at least names) but anything east of Germany was the great unknown.

A couple I remember

Hear about the Polack who died raking leaves? He fell out of the tree.

or

A Polack was talking to a police officer after a traffic accident.
Officer: Didn't you see the 'yield' sign?
Polack: I did, I yield and yield but that other car just kept on coming!

The supposed Polack on All in the Family had a very unPolish name - Stivic

A few years later, a Polish character, Wojo, was maybe the most sympathetic character on Barney Miller, a long running police sitcom.

At the moment they are blocking anything that would make it easier to deport migrants.

What are trucks driving through Christmas markets to the heady feeling of being super duper anti-racist! German citizens are for paying taxes so that left wingers can plan their grand social experiments. German citizens are just eggs, ingredients for their superb social omelet....

. Even if the AfD wins 40% of the vote, the other parties will form a coalition which will make sure that the right wingers can't grab power (much like the system in France).

If that happens it's going to be civil war (also in France).

but there's greater festering resentment against Muslims in Germany than many of us even realized.

Cannot agree with this. The resentment isn't against muslims per se, it's against the government. The government is trying to deflect the real and growing anger from the population onto migrants (in a craven and cowardly fashion) because they think that will help them withstand the criticism and it worked for a while but the clock is ticking down...

As for the muslims themselves, they're kind of..... irrelevant to the whole process. When things get bad the targets will not be hapless unintegrating muslim migrants but rather the government itself (and after the **** starts the migrants might decide that their own countries aren't so bad after all and that problem will resolve itself).

News / The first PiS led government in 2005 lasted just over 2 years in Poland. [129]

The oppositon's goal has been crystal clear for some time: to find some way to overthrow the government

Overthrow? Drama much? No opposition (including PiS's many years i opposition) is required or expected to further the governing party's aims.
But the hysterical drama queens of PiS cannot take any challenge to their brutal destruction of the vestiges of rule of law and start crying about persecution. Pathetic they are.

OPPOSITION HAD NEVER ACCEPTED THE DEMOCRATIC VERDICT OF THE POLISH PEOPLE

Neither did PiS. The POLISH PUBLIC VOTED FOR A GOVERNMENT LED BY BEATA SZYDŁO AND NOT BY THE PARTY PREZES.

If PiS really believed in democracy then JK would but out of the decision making process and simply fulfill his duties as a back bencher.

News / Poland's political crisis deepens [228]

But I do care that as leader of the government she should lead this response to a serious crisis and also address the issue of why a legal budget has not yet been passed

The problem is that JK wants to replace the rule of law with rule by party leader (again, the way things worked in the PRL). Szydło is the titular head of government but she has no real power within the party as JK frequently demonstrates.

Many PiS voters don't care as long as they get their pay offs in the from of 500+ or get to fantasize about revenge against their enemies (roughly - anyone who's more successful than them).

God knows what goes through her brain when she has to sit through these humiliations

So do I. Duda is another case, I'm sure he has no backbone whatsoever and doesn't mind being told what to do and what to say. Szydło struck me as someone more her own person and it's kind of sad to see her continued degradation (though many PiS voters might enjoy the spectacle of a woman constantly being reminded of her place)
