Travel / Driving in Poland, are there any rules at all? [149]

Oh, come on, if It’s Too Hot, Get Out Of The Kitchen. Thats the problem with the world of today, every thing is tailored to suit the sensibilities of cowardly old women.

I am a woman and a very good driver. However I do tend to stay within the speed limit on minor and A roads, and not overtake in silly places....just because I quite enjoy living...and I wouldn't like to be responsible for another death....are those the sensibilities of 'a cowardly old woman' or a normal responsible citizen?

The problem with Polish drivers from what I have seen in my personal experience;

a) they think they are above the law and drive without licences or insurance.
b) they drive like lunatics and think it's funny
c) they overtake in ridiculous places
In fact it's so blatant that I can spot a Polish driver a mile off, well maybe half a KM..

Try Phyllis Chesler’s ‘Mothers On Trial', if you are interested, sometime. In the meantime, it's off topic and having nothing to do with this discussion.

thanks for that Polishmama, interesting stuff......

Language / Polish saying about spider webs? [21]

that's so nice Pawian, we do the same. there was a spider above my bed for a few weeks, I got quite fond of him/her and was very sad when it moved on.

Then yesterday I saw one running into the house through the front door ahead of me and it seemed a good sign after a very bad winter. They eat flies!! What's not to like?

So good to hear that there are really good luck sayings about these delightful animals.
I simply cannot understand those women who start screaming and spraying them with hairspray etc., they have the cutest faces...the spiders that is...
I might feel differently if I lived in Australia I suppose......

Love / Do Irish / British guys like Polish girls? [138]

Please tell me what do you find so insulting, this "can do" attitude?

it's the moaning and sweeping generalizations. Although I have been impressed by the attitude you mention, what I am hearing from you is a superior

attitude. You also seem to be wanting an argument.

It's all a bit personal at the moment for me. so it's not a good time to argue.

Let's just say I heard too many direct personal and unnecessary insults on public transport.

I also know certain people who would rather stay on the dole for years rather than pay child support, or others who have gone back to Poland and still claim benefits from the UK.

And still they whine about how rubbish it is here.

That is NOT a 'can do' attitude.

Also you insulted my dad....;0) that's never good.

during divorce proceedings, women often make-up stories of being domestic violence victims to get better deals during court proceedings.

yeh that is true, they can go to a refuge and have everyone feel sorry for them, and then get a cheap council flat....SOMETIMES

you generally are a friendly and nice person, at least you were barring today.

well thanks AK, that is sweet of you. But I am not actually being nasty today, I just found the comment about Irish men a bit much, a bit personal, as well as some comments since.

Like I said, some British and Irish people are sick of being insulted, but it seems like we are fair game.
Maybe it would be better for me if i didn't understand Polish at all.

Oh and btw that's two mothers you have now slagged off, how about looking after your baby instead of sitting on the computer all day being all holy?

"there is too many foreigners in my country these days"?

well there are, it is fact, even my immigrant friends have said it. In fact funnily enough they said it a long time ago. stating the obvious doesn't make me a xenophobe does it?

As for the 'I speak English' badge, it could actually be useful these days in London. The first time I met someone in uniform at a venue who didn't speak a word of English, I thought it was funny.

But that was a long time ago.

I see what you mean of course, but to be honest these days in London, an 'I speak English' badge would probably be the most useful.

You see you have started that 'xenophobe' thing immediately.....it's all so predictable and frankly Londoners are tired of it.

UK, Ireland / Are Polish people importing a new wave of ancient racism into the UK? [402]

Much more stereotypical sayings in the English language than Polish.

I have never heard a single one of those and I am from North London.
The only thing I EVER heard was 'don't be jewish' referring to being tight fisted, similar to Scots.

Do you think she might have another man lined up? Perhaps an ex in Poland?
With no wish to cause offence, is the child 100 per cent likely to be yours?
Why did she not want you to put your name on the birthlines?
I wish you the best, kids do need fathers.

oh ZIMMY I knew it would only be a matter of time before you popped up!
How we have missed you!
Where have you been?
Do tell.
BTW I agree with you, just that I missed you so much, I thought I would lay some ZIMMY bait.

Now I want to concentrate on my child having their father in their life and being a responsible Dad. So any advice you can give me would be appreciated.

get a good lawyer on your side, ASAP, as Pip suggested.
Maybe social services too?

5) What would you call it if you were barred from seeing your own child and them being taken away from you and not being told where they were moving to?

look anglik I dont know, that sounds bad but I just know these one sided stories are just that, one sided. Why would she do that if you were Mr Angel Anglik?

Did you drink, take drugs, threaten her, insult her? What?
I must apologise if I have got it all wrong.
And I am not a HATER no.
YOu offered to pay her money to support the baby? And she turned it down? In that case, she has her reasons.

Anglik, YOU sound like the idiot.
Fathers who name themselves on the birth certificate have a much easier time.
You just have to be there.
It's called 'taking responsibility'.
What, did you have a hangover that morning? Or busy with another woman?
Or maybe you thought to avoid the CSA?
Most idiotic is your use of the word 'abduction'
FFS.

I should say that I am not married to the mother, nor at present on the birth certificate.

so you couldnt be arsed to make it to the registry office to register your kids birth, nor did you marry her. Loser.

they should not be insulted the way she did.

ah but how do we know what was said to her before the recording started? That's right we don't.
Incidentally she did NOT racially abuse anyone, Black or not. SHe merely commented rather too loudly that there were very few English on the tram. Then an African woman started shouting about how lazy the English were. needless to say that was fine.

That comment of your friend was kind of rude

Yeh it was but it was a quiet comment to her son, but the Polish girl loved it, it gave her the chance to kick off. I bet she hoped someone was filming, and she might get to be a youtube star.

I have no interest in fukwits like Oxon, people can speak what language they like on the bus. He is an idiot.

This is the proof that British people are sensitive about criticism of their country

no **** sherlock.
If anyone had to listen to their country/themselves being insulted as much British people do...they wouldnt like it.
And that's in real life, not on some forum.
If we object we are accused of 'racism'.
Immigrants know this, especially since 'my tram experience' going viral on youtube.
For example since that time, my friend was in her local supermarket and noticed the cashier was wearing an 'I speak Polish' badge.
She commented to her son that 'I speak English' might be more useful.
Next thing the girl was shouting abuse at her, trying to draw attention from the public, and accusing her of being 'racist' and 'anti Polish'.

Just a small illustration of my point.

why not?
maybe British and Irish are sick of being insulted. At least this one did it in English I suppose, unlike all those biatches on the bus and tube who think nobody can understand their rudeness.

Yes I know things are grim there, so why insult your host country?

Thank you for sharing your view and attitude.

Thanks God not all Irish men are like that.

but you already said they were...
to be honest I agree with RN, if you have such contempt for 50 per cent of the population, why stay? You know where the airport is right? I would have said the same to those Irish in the 90s who lived in London but were always shouting about how **** the English/England were.

You can think what you like, but resorting to personal and ill informed rants just because you are feeling homesick is a bit crap and very rude.

thing is if all these thousands of Polish who find life so much more comfortable in UK/Ireland went back to their beloved country and worked there, perhaps Poland wouldnt be so shyte.

Just a thought.
