UK, Ireland / Are Poles in UK really that big of a deal? [112]

Please post a few links to quality press and not sh*t stirrers, grubas. Where is this hatred? I'm not saying you are wrong as I don't read the British press but hatred is a strong word.

part 1 of a 7-part documentary on Poles living in the UK. Some Brits sneer and that's just their way. It's worth taking an hour or so out of your day to watch the above in its entirety.

The golden rule is to take people as you find them, regardless of their nationality. My only real comment would be that some Poles might appear to be like pack animals to Brits. However, we should appreciate their unity as some lone wolves are just nasty. As long as they recognise their guest status as I do here then all should be well.

Off-Topic / How do Polish people operate? what makes them tick? [103]

Quite a few Poles have shown me one thing in particular. That they get a rise out of trying to be right when they are blatantly wrong. They often forget their own argument in the process. It's the OTT assertion of being right that is ultimately their downfall as it's a stubborn thing. Rather than calmly and rationally reflect, there are those that fly off the handle and lock horns.

APU, I'm talking about select Poles that exhibit this. Quite a lot will show it if you give them the chance. However, I know many that don't launch into a full-scale battle and take it easy.

News / Dumbing-down in Polish schools and the Matura [185]

Some students would probably do better sitting in a toilet and reading books. Some of these students are awful. The questions are simple and in their own language yet they come up short.

Love / Do Polish men like to sleep with other men? [79]

Acting like a queen is frowned upon here so that's out. However, I had a couple of foreigners in mind so they acted as they wanted. Well, mens' instinct isn't as good as that of women here so....;)

News / Dumbing-down in Polish schools and the Matura [185]

We all know that most British people don't give a hang for any language other than English. I like to be the exception to the rule.

here's another. There are literally hours of this MaturatoBzdura footage.

You'd be surprised, Monia. English has major stock amongst the educated here.

News / Dumbing-down in Polish schools and the Matura [185]

Based on this series, the Matura needs to be dumbed down. I wanted to create a new thread based on this but I forgot so here it is.

One of many interesting parts documenting the recollection of Poles regarding English acquired. Marek Konrad's Dzień Świra also has an excellent learning tool.

Please feel free to watch the MaturatoBzdura series as it really gives insights into how some have learned or not as the case may be.

News / Visegrad Battle Group under the command of Poland [261]

I think it's fairly clear that Serbian forces committed genocide there but I don't see incontrovertible evidence. The logic is there as they wanted to restore the town to being Serbian.

Anyway, does this Visegrad group have a remit?

Off-Topic / Humiliated by landlord. Why women are so cruel? [27]

I think cristiano is having a laugh here. Some Irish can be hard-nosed bast*rds but that sounds odd. Stand up to her. You are not Bill Gates and she should realise that.

News / Failures of Poland and Tusk`s government [191]

The main failure? Not to live up to all the slogans and pledges he bandied about in summer 2007. He has been the avoider of blunders and little more. Not lowering excise duty has been foolish.

Farage talks about Greece and Tusk sits idly on, looking rather lost.

Life / How Safe Are the Polish Cities? [179]

What's it to you how safe they are, Havok? Some parts are safe and some aren't in most big cities around the world, maybe with the exception of Japan. Poland fits the standard model.

Life / IS Poland in danger of becoming the next multi cultural sink hole? [201]

Much has to do with history and generations. It has been a long time since Indians, Africans, Chinese and Pakistanis settled in the UK. Poland will never get near that level of successive generations. Poland is hardly the best country in the world to attract true entrepreneurs.

Love / Do Polish men like to sleep with other men? [79]

Hague, it's not easy being gay in Poland at all. I've known gay men here who had awful problems with their attitude. My point was that they will take their chances in discreet ways. One guy today said hello in a very gay way and he looks at me differently. I just ignore it but am civil to him as he works at a local store.
