Law / Poland low on national brand chart [66]

Business in Germany! With the usual barbs against the "mean, anti-polish Germans", huh?

You sure thrive on it...

Law / Poland low on national brand chart [66]

I googled the Smyk case!

smyk.com/en/about/spiele-max

Also here it seems more to be a case of keeping a well known brand instead of forcing
an unknown brand name on the costumers!

In 2008 the SMYK Group acquired the leading German chain of 41 stores with children's products, Spiele Max. In this way the SMYK Group strengthened its position and became a key player on the German market Spiele Max has been present on the German market for over 25 years and has a very strong position on the market.
The brand has high recognition, and Spiele Max is a leader in a large number of brands and products such as toys, prams, furniture and other equipment for children.

Why are you people seeing always german anti-polishness behind every corner???

But fuel? How many Germans can even name a Polish brand?

As I showed, BP aquired Aral and kept an in Germany well known brand name (since 1924), the same with Spiele-Max instead of changing it to unknown "Smyk".

Why throwing away good value and a well known brand? It would had cost customers...A well established brand is pure money!

Chinese products are purchased without a second thought.

They don't cost much...cheap money hence not much thoughts.

Expensive goods on the other hand are thought about much more before buying, names and images are most important!

Because they don't trust BP? I doubt.

No!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aral_AG

Aral is a brand of automobile fuels and gas stations, present in Germany and Luxembourg, but formerly used in most countries of Western and Central Europe.
The company behind the brand name, Aral AG (previously Veba Öl AG), is owned by BP, but was established in 1898 as Westdeutsche Benzol-Verkaufs-Vereinigung GmbH.
The Aral brand was introduced in 1924 and is a portmanteau of the German words "Aromaten" and "Aliphaten", alluding to the aromatic and aliphatic components found in gasoline, respectively.

They just kept a well introduced brand name...

You have to admit, it's a hell of a mission statement though and that's what you asked about.

Yes, that is true! :)

The dilemma is this: attract too many tourists and they will trample the naturalness away. And tacky commercial interests will soon contaminate the landscape with their booths, stalls, snackbars and souvenir shops.

Make it a nature protection area...so "contamination" can be limited and snackbars only at a few
places.

Germany is building up a huge nature protection area in the whole north eastern area...step by step more and more territories are included. That's the right way I think to avoid the errors of the earlier years.

tall enough to be seen from German border on a clear day and in stone.

I fear that won't be enough for an INTERNATIONAL nation branding! ;)

A link?

Do you mean that one?

nation-branding.info/2010/10/13/nation-brands-index-2010

That could be interesting:

nation-branding.info/2010/11/03/mission-statements-of-countries

What should Polands "mission statement" be?

I think that comes first before you could think about a good placement of your brand.

History / Polish president Mościcki and Hermann Göring hunting together in 1938 [76]

Carefull with that BB, the problem with that story is that Germans never went far above villages in the area, then Poles show up and *BAM* civilisation.

And you really believe that, don't you! Ha!

When the world talks about giants of civilization they don't talk much about Poland but about Germans....ever wondered why?

The map of Ptolemy showed fully developed towns in what you now call Poland already 2000 years back and every town has an environment of villages and farms as it can't exist alone.

Already flourishing before the first Pole set it's dirty paw into these lands!

I can understand you if you want to try to pull off your superior stuff with Ukrainians and Lithuanians or whomever else eastwards of you but you are speaking now about the mighty german people here, the center of the white, western civilization...you can't hold a candle on us regarding achievements!

I know Poles like their realm of fantasy where they rule but please leave us out of it..

many scholars believe Slavs encroached west on what were mostly emptied lands

Such a history only serves the settlers...won't want to be seen as conquerors and invaders, won't we!

Maps show german "TOWNS" deep inside of what is now Poland...2000 years old...so much for empty!

News / Looted Polish paintings found and return to Poland [14]

I seriously can't even imagine how much is hidden in Russia today. And i guess i will never find it out either.

Lots of it is still rotting in Siberia! The Russians are still all Soviets in this regard. Recently there had been a joint exhibition of german art in St. Petersburg.

Only after much fight over years and only heavily guarded. They don't even think about it giving something back...They don't really like hearing it "Beutekunst"! ;)

But that's how we know that there are still endless counts of art are still somewhere hidden in trains in Siberia.

As a child I used to play with German medals your heroes lost while escaping Poland !
Ohne Flax !

Yeah...must be the lack of own medals...german art, german medals...what would you do without the Germans!
I bet the polish art you so bemoan was only a gathering of foreign (german?) art itself...

Poland still keeps looted german art...and lots of it!
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlinka_(art_collection)

The Berlinka is known to contain over 300,000 manuscripts by individuals such as Martin Luther, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and Friedrich Schiller. It also contains linguistic studies by the Grimm Brothers[4]

We should make an official exchange...Thank you very much!

Yes I do. Got no problems with German Gastarbeiter hired by Polish kings.

Gastarbeiter! ROFL :)

Look at your heritage Borrka...and how much of that is german (Buildings, art, towns, technology, science etc.)
Your Kings needed the Germans to build up your country! And now you need us again to build you up...some things never change...funny isn't it!

Think about that next time you call Germans in WHAT IS NOW Poland "settlers" or "colonists".

PS: You know Borrka, I always wondered about your fanatic stand on "the Germans hate the Poles by default. Always had, always will". I tried to discuss with you seriously but I now know that is futile...it might even be right that Germans hate YOU, but that is your fault. You are an unsympathetic being with one can no build understanding or even friendship. So yes, in your case you might even be right, GERMANS DON'T LIKE YOU!!!

But you are not Poland, nor (gladly) the majority of the fine polish people...with those we have no problems with and can build a good future...you on the other hand I want to kick in the nuts all the time, get used to it, to my and our dislike! You have only yourself to blame....

History / Polish president Mościcki and Hermann Göring hunting together in 1938 [76]

Simon Schama's "Landscape and Memory" speaks of HG's love of hunting and gives a hilarious description of HG in blouson shirt and rubber flying trousers showing the world's press some bison (who refused to mate for the camera).

Göring was a hero flyer in the first world war (Pour Le Merite), he was the commander of the red Baron himself...
Interesting character...he played the lawyers at Nuremburg for fools, being highly intelligent (IQ 138) he run rings around them.

But all that early success and praise must have muddled his brain somewhat....

And weren't they Balt lands before either of you got there?

Were they? I don't know of Balt recordings before the Germanics...

Exactly the way Germans colonized Pommerania !
Perhaps you don't know it but what you call "Northern parts of Poland heavily populated by Germans" used to be Slavic and part Polish lands before German annexation.

And before that it used to be german lands before Poles wandered westwards and settled there...
We had been there before you, interesting how you keep to forgetting that!

Germans had every right to re-settle there again as it will happen in the future again! ;)

What is your time line to accept sombody's right to his "Heimat" ?

Good question Borrka...ask that yourself!

You keep calling Germans who lived in northern Poland or Silesia etc. for 500 and 1000 years at "settlers" and "colonists"....

Just think about the polish pearl "Krakow", after the mongol hordes destroyed the town it was rebuild and settled by Germans...who in the course of the millennia got polonized.

Just one example of the german heritage of much of Poland!

Do you call Krakow Heimat Borrka?

UK, Ireland / EXCHANGE RATES BETWEEN POLISH ZLOTY AND BRITISH POUND [73]

What are the main ingredients? Dictatorship seems to be working well, when managed by competent people, which China is. They're waging an economic war and look to be winning.

Dictatorship isn't compelling to people, nothing they yearn for, strive for, dream of.
You don't see masses immigrating into China!

The chinese "miracle" will get busted like the credit crunch and housing bubbles...soon chinese workers won't bow to the slaving anymore...there will be rising wages, a growing middle class who will influence the current regime...

They will come to adhere the same laws and duties as we have to do too...then we will see how they can cope without any unfair advantage as it is now! ;)

It's all a matter of time!

PS: Dictatorships are all about projecting an image, to their own people and to the foreigners....they are not really working well, they never do, not by a long shot! Believe me...I speak from experience!

That's what I meant! If I had believed every doom-sayer...
I believe in the US, they will come out of it. There won't be another world leader anytime soon, the possible candidates are all lacking the main ingrediences!

Keep in mind the US has already threatened the Chinese with devaluation... if that happens, do you think the ECB and BoE will play follow the leader?

I will change my opinion once the Dollar is not the world currency anymore...but I need to see that to believe it!

Well...if you call the Dollar and the Pound "weak" currencies! ;)

But the Euro is stronger than the Dollar and near parity with the Pound.
A too strong Euro is bad news for the german economy...and against the background
of all the "doom! gloom!" screamers in the wake of Greece, Ireland and future bailouts the Euro holds itself very well! ;)
No panic, no rushed sells, nothing...

I've read experts who said parity with both (Dollar, Pound) is actually more realistic than the heights the Euro had reached some months back. That was clear overvaluation and...I repeat, bad for the economies!
