Yes, but you don`t know about the reasons of this situation. Poland lost 25% of its elites during WW2, then the communist regime didn`t pamper the intelligentsia for over 40 years. And a few waves of emmigration of intelligent educated people took place then. .
Today, Poland abounds in clever people. But she is deprived of people who have a vision for innovation.

But Polish brands are almost unknown here anyway. May be $1.45bn is not enough. May be exported goods are non-Polish brands, like Opel/Ford/Chevrolet cars.

Exactly. I don`t buy cars too often, so it means I hardly ever buy German, French or British products. But it doesn`t mean they are not in the market.

I think it is a fair sentence.

He said that such rites had been a norm in his school for many years and students treated it as enjoyable fooling around. But he also declared the end of initiation rites in the school.

The only thing that comes to my mind is that peasants in past Poland could belong to the king, church or landlord. If they belonged to king, they were called royal subjects. Not far from state people.

The decision to grant bonuses was taken by the Parliament Marshall who is a member of the ruling party.
It caused an outrage in the society which is already going through difficult times as the recession has hit Poland and caused high unemployment.
