unpopular minority regime

Still churning out the anti-PiS propaganda? Unpopular according to whom?
Minority? Which party in post-1989 ever won a majority vote in any parliamentary election? In other words, more bollocks and BS from lower-case jon!

most people here do not trust PiS

Dolno - Rest assured that is only lower-case jon's interpretaiton. Has he interviewed "most people"? He always claims polls are not reliable so on what basis does he make such misleading sweeping statements. These may be the views of the limit circle he interacts with (and being a snob he probably runs with fellow elitists). His wishful thinking then projects those views it on the rest of the nation.

thousands of people t

Thousands back KOD but how many thousands does your por-PiS 18% translate into? What you mean is the type of Poles you happen to hobnob with oppose PiS and back KOD, but they are in a minrotiy whether you like it or not. The volume of the street chants and rants cannot change the fact that they are but a niche group of malcontents.

It is those people

If the have-nots and post-1989 losers according to you all oppose PiS, does that mean you believe the haves, those who profited from the roundtable bandwagon, the banksters, post-nomenklatura types, and snooty elites are all for PiS? If not, then maybe the garden dwarfs all came to life and voted PiS into power.

so many ordinary people

Time and again you have demonstrated that you don't circulate with ordinary people but with privileged, snooty, elites -- those who won out after the post- roundtable transformation. These people have already enjoyed the fruits of the Solidarność revolution. Don't you think those perks should be spread about a bit more fairly?

4th republic is essentially the PRL

And the 3rd Republic WAS the nomenklatura aspect of PRL or red bourgeoisie -- the privileged caste. A PZPR manual once defined cognac as: the beverage of the working class imbibed by the lips of their leadership.

minor member of parliament l

Also a good friend from way back. Is it so strange to visit a friend in his home regardless of professional titles?.
What is strange is you so obsessed and preoccupied with just another "minor member of parliament".

News / Is Jarosław Kaczyński the new Lech Wałęsa? [74]

You just said there wasn't a change over the last 26 years

There were plenty of fruits and goodies for privileged cliques, whose members and supproters are in KOD ta present. The benefits were not spread throughout the country.

violence

I was merely responding to Delph's suggestion of physical violence. He expressed the view (hope?) that the miliatry would forcibly remove Kaczyński from office if a referendum were held.

Kaczyński

Unlike power-greedy PO who had 14 of the 15 TK appointees and illicitly appointed others to retain their monopoly. Jarosław Kaczyński has gone on record as saying the oppositon can have a majortiy of TK appointees. He will not demadn a majority for the ruling party. So who is the totalitarian dictator?!

discredit Wałęsa

No, it was Wałęsa and a motley collection of lustration-fearing politicians (including Kwaśniewski, Tusk, Kuroń, Pawlak, Bielecki, Moczulski) that tried to discredit the Polish patriots wanting to set the record straight in 1992 via a thorough-going vetting procesure. As a result, we've had a Polish-Polish war simmering and sporadically erupting as is the case at present ever since.

physically remove the governmen

When any group try to violently ovethrow a democratically elected government, the latter have the right and duty to restrain the assailants and defend public order and security against anarchy. Every democratic government in the world would react identically.

punishing perceived enemies

No, it is really about finally rewarding and making things up to those masses of Polłes forced to effectviely live in PRL for the past 26 years by the entitled ones, the unlustrated ones, the professional dynasties which have shut ordinary Poles out of many professions, wormed their way into the administration, judiciary and academia, culture and publishing and monopolised the media. Governments have come and gone over the past 26 years, but many of these same types have remained as deputy ministers and departmental directors and held other cushy posts. Do these types have some divine mandate to be to perpetually privileged? Why shouldn't others, those disentitled for 26 years, not enjoy some of the fruits of the transformation?

ALL WE ARE SAYING IS: GIVE PiS A CHANCE!

amount of damage

The worse the better is your motto then.Let the country suffer damage, let it be smeared internationally, let all three rating agencies lower their evaluation. The main thing is that the temporaily disentitled banksters and nomenklaturists get back to the trouhg which, in your view, is their rightful place. Some patriot you are!

the military would

If the KOD riffraff tried to physically remove the government, the military would be there to mow them down. At least that would be one way of eliminating the hate-filled, frustrated and resentful rabble who cannot reconcile themselves to defeat and disentitlement and continue stirring up trouble.

after such a referendum

As a constituton freak you know that any referendum has to be approved by the Sejm. Fortunately that august body is now in safe hands!

Lech Wałęsa

Amongst Wałęsa's pearls of wisdom was his recent statement that if the govt did not step down following a referendum, the street would forcibly eject them. Can't you just see wild-eyed Petru, Schetyna, Lis, Michnik and (of course) Delph waving blood-stained banners and leading thousands of screaming rabble in an atttack on the Winter Palace!? It'd make a great comic-book story!

What was the head count of the huge demos that sloshed through the slush for foreign banks, Petru & nomenklatura on 16th January? Neither you nor the media have mentioned them.

nothing autonomously

To a large extent that is true. That is precisely the problem no govt has so far addressed. The question is: must that eternally remain the case. Is Poland doomed to eternally being a recipient of handotus and an object of manipulation? That major drawback could be dealt with through education -- massive govt training programmes teaching entrepeneurship in different fields, bringing in foreign trainers as needed and granting stipends to train people abroad. Farmers for instance could be encouraged throuihg training, grants and tax breaks

not to sell raw produce but to pool their resources and set up processing plants. There are myriad ways in which Poland could become a genuine player, not just a pushed-about pawn. They have the manpower, resources and potential -- now it's a question fo getting their act together.

what's the head count

Somehow the news media are not reporting crowd sizes for Saturday's huge marches dominated by thousands upon thousands of young and very young enthusiastically chanting, ranting and placard-waving Poles. Since you are in thick wtih KOK, could you please provide some fresh and reliable data?

News / PiS to impose blanket retail tax in Poland [291]

what the EU is about

The EU as every empire or mega-corporation are about power, influence and profits. Their system will always favour the rich and powerful and only play lip-service to freedom and equality. The EU started by giving larger subsidies to the agriculture of strong, established food exporters than to the newly admitted CEE countries. Since the CEE did not get Mashall Plan aid, it should have been the opposite: larger susbisdies to CEE. Even now 10 years on, EU subsidies to Poland and other CEE lands are still probably smaller. I hope I'm wrong.

have no choice

Where there's a will there's a way. People said the Internet could not be controlled or censored, but China has succeeded in doing just that, meaning that it is feasible. If the poltical will existed, a good think-tank would come up with a way to deal with the tax problem and prevent evasion or cirucmvention. Possibly agreements wtih other countries also wanting to protect their sovereign right of taxation.

Too many horse-blinkered PFers seem hamstrung by what is and incapable of imagining what could or should be. That's what innovation is all about.

bailing out of swiss franc loan homeowners

This is not an area of great itnerest ot me so I won't pretend I know much about it. The bottom line in my view is that the banks should also sacrifice to rectify this problem, as should the credit-takers. Some fair compromsie should be reached.

But neither the franc homeowners nor the złoty ones are aynmroe as well off as the bankers!

already increased charges

If that's true, it only means PiS lawmakers have failed to produce an air-tight measure protecting people from exploitative bloodsuckers. The plutiocrats who are already filthy rich can afford to shave their margin a bit and extend a helping hand to the hero of this story, the ordinary Pole. If they don't do so willingly, they should land behind bars!

And international markets and comemrce do not care about normal, ordinary people but only about maximum profits by hook or by crook. And that's why they, not poor Poland, should be kept under close scrutiny and surveillance by impartial international authorities. But do any exist?

Plenty of them

Your plenty is how many? Like your "endless number of PZPR members".
I thought those posing to be financial experts like yourself deal in concrete figures not plenty, many, endless number, quite a few, a whole lot and similar vague generalities.

BTW, while you're at it pelase tell us how many foreign concerns operate in Poland, have set up shop, run retail chains or bought out Polish companies and manfuacturer their goods. Let's talk banks, media, breweries, distilleries, fast-food joints and food processors for starters.
