I think we can all generally agree on that. Nothing new here. Even Chancellor and one-time Mayor of West Berlin, Willy Brandt, remarked during his period in office that it was the destruction of German Jewry in particular which stymied West Germany's growth after the War and led to a decimated percentage of German artists, thinkers, scientists, writers, and musicians...a generation lost to the world.

Reparations however cut many ways, need I remind you. Would it be sooooo out of place conversely for Germany to claim POLAND owes them one trillion U.S. dollars?

While I do realize Germany was more or less the principle "aggressor" in WWII, the Federal Republic immediately following the framing of her Basic Law, did contend that so-called "German lands" had been purloined by the enemy, namely Russia, renamed and "relinguified" to expunge most traces of German.

Where oh where does it end??

No, tu sie na tym tematu z Pania nie zgdazam! Native speaker/spiker jezyka polskiego przed uczenami jezyka angielskiego w klasie wciaz mysli po swojim jezyku ojczystowym czyli po POLSKU, a NIE po angielsku czyli The Target Language.

Moze byc dla klas angielskiego na najwyjzszym poziomie (angielskiego dla awansowanych) byliby polskomowiace dobra ide, ale zapewno nie dla dzieci czyli klas angielskiego podstawowych.

Tylko gdyby kazdy Polak sie uczyl n.p. angielskiego przez "direct method" czyli jezyk angielski a NIE jezyk polski w nauczeniu sie. robiliby jeszcze wiecej postepy po angielsku:-) Dlatego ma duzo Polakow dobra gramatyke w jezyku angielskim, ale absolut straszna wymowe, poniewaz oni codziennie sluchaja angielskomowiacym Polakom a prawie nigdy nie Amerykaninom lub Kanadczykom.

Well, my first, and only, port of call was Szczecin to the North. Charming Old Town, railway a bit delapidated (then again, that was back in '96 or so), attractive restaurants (dusty menus from frequent disuseLOL), pleasant street cafes and typically Hanseatic-style architecture.

Definitely worth a trip:-)

I was recently thrown off a German forum because I clicked on "English" as my mother tongue. How embarrassingLOL

Anyhow, I'm still not convinced that Churchill merrily sold Poland down the river. After all, Poland's Gov't in Exile had been in London and so if the English wanted to betray Poland, they could have easily done it at any time.

Moim zdaniem metoda gramatyczno-tlumaczeniowa nie jest dobra metoda, bo obcy uczen czyli studiacy ucza sie tylko wytlumaczyc z jezyka ojczystego na polski a wreszscie nie myslic w nowym jezyku!

Moi najlepsi nauczycieli byli Polakami, ktorzy nie dobrze mowili ani po niemiecku ani po angielsku, ale ktorzy uczucili sie POLKOSC z krwi i kosci:-)
