News / Should Poland Remove Visa Restrictions? [285]

Thats sadly true there's a large exploitatitive industry around that but it has nothing to do with how we work and everything to do with morality, loyalty (or lack of thereof) abroad.

Theyre Americans that do it also, its seems some polish are leary of Americans so they only go with one of these small Polish companies then wind up getting taking advantage of because alot of these so called contractors are just out to cheat.

Thats just a certain percent, most Poles I know like you said have high morals and are good friends of mine.

Im not here to bash on Poles

So you live in some kind of a slum then like

I live in a Polish neighborhood and Polock is used umgunst friends all the time.

I suppose you do have a point, I doubt that I would walk up to a complete stranger and say "hey Polock" I could see it being offensive then. I didnt mean it that way twords you.

but you're that much of a prick and have some sort of an issue.

And youre not?????
Ive read plenty of your posts, so save me the self righteous BS

Pollock is bloody derogatory all across America, its an insult and used as an insult.

Not all Poles feel this way, I could walk into a bar and hear "Polock" all night long.

Like you said you dont live here so you dont really know what youre are talking about!

News / Should Poland Remove Visa Restrictions? [285]

You realise quite a large patch of Chicago was developed by Poles and descendants of Poles?

Then what happened to thier work ethic? I see Poles preying on the other Poles that cant speak English and they rip them off all the time!

As far as i know its offensive everywhere, it amounts to calling a black guy a n*gger also i doubt you're a Polock, Polish or even a Polak:)

I dont think so, everybody says it to each other over here.

Just like Paki is an insult in the UK and it isnt a derogatory word in the US.

Since you're obviously not Polish and prejudiced what the hell are you doing here?

You obviously dont know me at all:)

Im sure the Polish government doesnt want the visa restrictions removed, then they would have to put a fence around the whole county to keep the people from leaving, it would be like a ghost town....lol

News / Should Poland Remove Visa Restrictions? [285]

Sledż i heard something quite the opposite about Polish construction companies in America

In the Chicago area they have a bad reputation, its well know..sorry

I cant fail but notice that you use a derogatory term "polock" would that and associated ******** stem from the fact that you're a prejudiced idiot?

Here in Chicago Polocks call each other Polocks all day long, its not offensive here.

Do you live here you ******* idiot?????

Not yet but they will, mainly because they're cheap

and they work harder than the typical wodka filled Pole

I've never managed to attach "quality" to that list.

As far a construction goes, I would have to agree with you. Poles have a very bad reputation in the US for doing shoddy work. Most Americans wont hire a Polish company to work on thier homes, while most Poles only hire other Poles because either they cant speak English or just dont know any better, then they wind up get ripped off by a bunch of off the boat hacks.

I do know some execellent polish carpenters but theyve lived here 20 years and they know all our construction codes.

Most Polocks want the job done dirt cheap, so you get what you pay for:)

Why are the Chinese building all the roads in Poland???????

USA, Canada / Why no Polish stuff in Chicago? [41]

Not totally; the "Red Apple" is just a block south of Belmont on Milwaukee and there are some stores in that area and south of there as well including a couple more restaurants.

I was at the czerowne jablusko about 2 months ago and it was just horrible, the other one by Devon seems to be better quality. Staropolska and the Polska apteka are still there.

Angelinas rest and Wallys supermarket moved out of there also, Its getting like the ghetto over there.

Very slowly; lets hope the Poles hang in there

Belmont/Central or by Harlem/Lawrence I think will be Polish forever:)
Theyve opened a few new clubs, rests and a huge supermarket. So not to worry:)

But as previously noted, lots of Poles live in the suburbs now. They have become or are becoming Americanized.

They have more money now, and can get away from the riff raff of the city.

Remember years ago when dozens of Polish guys would stand on the corner of Bel/Mil and wait for daily labor jobs?

If you drive past there now, its all Mexicans at least 100 of them everyday.

Its turning into Los Angeles over there....lol

USA, Canada / Why no Polish stuff in Chicago? [41]

I know of a few Polish delis and restaurants in Chicago that have closed in the past two years. I don't know if it's part of the normal business cycle, the result of the economy,

Most of the Poles are moving away from the city, to places like Mt. Prospect,
Park Ridge, Norridge, Harwood Heights, Des Plaines and the extreme NW city limits.

The historically predominat Polish Belmont/Milwaukee area is totally Mexican now.

Belmont /Central is like the last stronghold of the Polish neighborhoods in Chicago but its turning Mexican little by little each day:(

Language / Which is the BEST, EASIEST to learn & most helpful"POLISH FOR FOREIGNERS"course? [32]

The Rosetta Stone Polish Language CD set. You can't go wrong.

If you happen to have the English translations, or else get a Polish/English dictonary and try to figure out what all the pictures mean? Its too time consuming, I will admit it helps to memorize words and basic sentences.

I contacted RS and they denied my request for the translations, but fortunately enough somebody on here sent them to me:)

Btw Rosetta uses the same pics for all thier language CD`s

For learning basic phrases and words I really like BYKI software. They give you free lists but you can purchase a very large list for about $50 with disk for $60.

I purchased the upgraded BYKI version and it came along with easier and more practical Jezyk Polski language CD

transparent.com/languagepages/polish/polish.htm

That was some time ago, it appears they have more products now:)

Powodezenia:)

USA, Canada / REFUSED A HOLIDAY VISA TO THE U.S CAUSE IM POLISH [323]

70 thousands and it ranks us in the 10th

Its a lot more than that,, I found this article

All Illegals no matter from what country they are from should be deported!!!!
...................................................................... ........................................

According to the recently retired head of the INS' Chicago District, Poles rank second behind Hispanics among the Chicago area's large illegal alien population. (A recent report by FAIR estimates there are 500,000 illegals living in Illinois.)

So my socks weren't blown off when I received a forwarded copy of an August 5 letter written to members of the Illinois General Assembly by Christopher Kurczaba, president of the Polish American Congress' Illinois Division.

In his letter, which asks support for proposed legislation sponsored by Sen. Miguel del Valle that would give drivers licenses to illegal aliens, Kurczaba (e-mail him) parrots the now familiar but very lame argument that licenses would "improve highway safety" and, of course, greatly enhance national security.

"The current situation [i.e., upholding the rule of law] leads to a deplorable condition in which [illegal] immigrants (regardless of their driving ability) are forced to use their foreign driver's licenses because they cannot obtain a license in Illinois. In case an [illegal] immigrant is involved in an accident or another incident that requires a license as identification, they do not have such a document."

Here's where it really becomes heart-breaking:

"This inconveniences other drivers who are involved in these incidents. There is no way to track or identify who these persons are unless they have a drivers license, or form of identification issued by a state authority."

None of this would be a problem if illegals weren't here. So the solution, as I see it, is to

(a) make it uncomfortable enough for those who wipe their feet on our laws to return home on their own, and

(b) serious interior enforcement that leads to deportation.

Voila! Fewer people on our already congested roads and, as Kurczaba says, "a greater level of security for all Americans."

OK, OK, there's a couple trade-offs: Some of us may have to cut our own lawns and have fewer ethnic restaurants from which to choose.

But, as a nation of immigrants worthy of the name, we'll again show the world how tough we are in the face of adversity.

The letterhead on which Kurczaba's whining appears is particularly annoying: At the top is PAC's logo that includes the upper portion of the Statue of Liberty,a symbol that glorifies a system of government that rests on the rule of law. (Uh-oh! Maybe that will have to go in light of PAC's apparent disenchantment with that notion.)

In the bottom left corner of the letter is a colorful reminder that October is "Polish Heritage Month," which leaves me wondering: Is it part of Polish tradition and culture to encourage people to enter other countries illegally and then demand to be treated as well as citizens?

Growing up in a Polish family on Chicago's South Side, I don't recall my parents, other family members or neighbors pushing the idea that criminals should be rewarded and, in the process, encouraging others to do the same.

USA, Canada / REFUSED A HOLIDAY VISA TO THE U.S CAUSE IM POLISH [323]

And I'm thinking about tourists, as for illegals kick them out by all means...but all not only Poles!

Thats what Ive been saying for years, Im not singleing out the Polish, I like most of them and theyre not really the problem in the overall picture.

If I were to say kick out all the Mexicans and its ok for Polish to stay that would be racist and everybody here would jump all over me.

I dont care what country a person comes from as long as the do it Legally. Ive said this a countless number of times, on this probably the 20th Visa thread here on PF.

And it is too bad that they have restrictions because of a few bad Apples that had to ruin it for the honest people, that would just like to take a vacation or see relatives.

Not sneek off and find a cash job and hide in the shadows, these are the people I like to see get deported.

couldn't you find a better place to spend your holiday? NY is nothing, but, high buildings

I agree, NYC wouldnt be list on my list of places to go in the US. Its horrible over there!

Go to Florida, then you always can hop on down to the Virgin IS. or Jamacia

British people. On the other hand they almost always return to their country though.

I think its because if they stay past the 3 months and dont return, then they are banned and cant come back for 10 years, maybe AUS is a little more lenient?

You're talking about popular sentiment among the population. But almost no politician with national aspirations will publicaly deviate from the common dem-rep line that unlimited immigration is a priority and that enforcement is more about plausible deniability rather than any concern for maintaining border integrity.

Theres going to be alot of pressure in the next election for sure.
I have a feeling after Obama gets his healthcare passed hes going to give them all amesty.
Hes going to need the votes and thats what its really all about for a Chicago Politician.

Amnesty will come right before the next Presidential election

You do not debate, you present your opinions and nothing else.

Theres nothing to debate, its just a fact Poles dont get Visas because they dont honor thier attentions and skip out on returning back home.

If what you claims is true and you are surrounded by dissolute Poles its has nothing to do with visa issue.

It has everything to do with it stupid!!!

They come here thinking they can find work and wind up pissing in an alley!

We didnt join the EU so we should be able to deicide who we want to let in or not.

sure kiss British asses, you miserable bigot

Im not a limey lover but have to admit they act more respectfully than alot of Poles Ive seen come to America.

Im glad for the restrictions and hope it pi$$es you off...... Ironass!!!!!!!

Does it means there are none? you are even more dumb then I thought

Im sure they would behave more respectfully from the Brits Ive met compared to what Ive seen by the Polish.

I have homeless Poles drinking wodka and passing out in my alley and going through the garbage cans all the time.

I seen some Illegal Poles congregating around a garbage can fire today,,, cozy huh?

They should of stayed in Poland or go use up the UK,

When the Limeys joined the EU that was the best gift they ever gave us:)
And the Brits dont even know it....lol

Sir Ironside hates only stupid little fishy cvnts like you.
As to attacking "this" country I find your statement laughable

Ironside wasnt a bigot first of all, and you claming his name is totally pathetic...lol

I don't know if you have ever been out of the US. If you have, then you should understand someone else wanting to go to a different country

Ive been to Europe and I wasnt planning on staying there either, are you kidding:)

Why are millions of Poles leaving Poland?
How many Americans really move away out of the country, a very small percentage compared to Poland.

Brits dont need visa because they always return back home, they come visit and go back.

Ive never came across an Illegal Brit looking for a job but Polish and Mexican is a everyday ritual.

What a surprise to see you lying again!

But Perry Mason doesnt lie, Im trying to figure his connection with Raymond Burr...lol

Ironass hates everything American, and Im glad they have restrictions on Visas otherwise this country would be attacked like the Poles swarmed into the UK.

If everybody is trying to get out of Poland, what will be left of it????

Muslim counrty by 2050:(

Maybe Poles should stay in Poland and try to make something out of their counrty instead of always running away???

No kidding, just lying: precisely what we've come to expect from you Greg.

He whines about the US every chance he gets also,

He actually wanted the US to give him money because were not building the missle base

Better check your facts again, there are thousands of Illegal Poles in Chicago.

Thats why the government stopped giving them visas because they never return home when theyre supposed too, so blame your fellow Polocks for screwing it up for the honest ones.

News / New Polish gambling law - outlawing gambling except in casinos [34]

These are not casinos, just every little bar has installed these gambling machines and poor people are sitting at them putting their weeks earnings in them.

I know these Poker machines very well, I wouldnt play any machine in a bar.

There is a payout setting switch which you can adjust to practically never payoff.

Most places set it a 30/70 but it can be raised higher

Save your money the only one that wins is the owner of the machine and the bar:)

USA, Canada / Do many Polish people in America hate Americans? [592]

Americans travel a lot... but within the states...
they just don't do international traveling a lot...

Its true, We dont need to leave the US we have it all right here:)

Only 10-15% of Americans own a passport. Thats a fact.

More google facts???
Why should we leave, to get treated like $_hit when we travel to Europe?

My passport was stamped perfectly equally until some Jagoff Immigration officer at the Dublin airport looked at me and went to the last page, then stamped it and tossed it at me.

Perhaps he didnt like my last name..lol

I could care less as it didnt phase me, it just reaffirmed everything my cousin told me to expect at the airport

The percentage is much higher in palces such as Milwaukee, Green Bay, Stevens Point and the small villages of Polonia, Pułaski, Kraków, etc

Maybe years ago , Ive been to all these places there are a few Polish people left but most of them moved to Chicago.

Can anyone seriously beat Chicago, i doubt it.

Chicago has the largest population of Poles in one city, besides Warsaw PL

that knowing Polish is not particularly useful when looking for a job in the US for a couple of reasons.

You could probably survive in Chicago if Polish was your only language because of the huge Polish commmunity here.
Anywhere else in the country no way, you would have a better chance speaking Spanish.

Id have to say the majority of Poles that Ive met here in Chicago can speak English very well.
