Winter tyres in the US

This is an interesting article on modern snow tire advancements...

For winter driving, you need winter tires.
Seasons Change. Why Not Attitudes?
And still, Americans have been slow to take advantage of this cold-weather technology. "In 2008," writes Denise Koeth, managing editor of Tire Review, "the winter tire market made up 2.3 percent of the U.S. tire market, with 5 million units sold, ....

No doubt one contributing factor is the ubiquitous all-season tire, and the promise embedded in its name.

I don't know, which part of the US you are in, but the people I speak to in Ontario/Canada, they still do winter tyres

I'm here in the northeast and we get plenty of snow. We have mountains and valleys too. For years every car or SUV I've bought just came with "all season" tires. And we just replace the tires with the same when needed, without a second thought. They're so common here that I hadn't even thought about snow tires in a long time. They're like a thing from the past. That's why I was kinda surprised to see that P-Land peeps still do the seasonal tire swap.

When you guys buy a new, say, Subaru (or whatever) doesn't it come with the same all season radials that they do here?

Correct...with a modded pontiac engine..holly carb , hurst shifter...it was a monster...

And it went exactly 0 mph in the snow no matter what tires you put on it.

Years ago me and a buddy built a 7.5 Trans Am like the one Burt drove in Smokey and the Bandit. It had the Oldsmobile block (you could always tell the TA's with the Olds engine because the hood scoop sat up a little higher). That thing was fast, fast, fast. Maybe the fastest car I've ever driven. Handled pretty well too. Loved that car...

Ok, this is off topic...

Love / Good looking Polish women with ugly men [416]

I fail to see how the gay guys offend the straight guy when they actually help him.

The straight guys on the show aren't offended, they signed up to be on the show. It's anyone who hates the double standard that should be offended.

You obviously are extremely threatened by the fact that it happens to be gay guys helping out a straight man to find that offending.

Obviously nothing. I think I've made it pretty clear that my big issue with the show is the glaring PC double standard.

Its not like they are saying to him "You are an idiot and less worth than me because you are straight".

Somehow I suspect this is how gays would receive my show.

This usurping of previously offensive terminology is common.

Sure it is. But again, it's the double standard that is crap. Either everyone can say it or no one should.

It's not the show itself I find offensive. I've seen it before. It wasn't terrible. But if they're gonna have a TV show like this then there should be no offense taken were there a "Straight Eye for the Queer Guy" show. But PC dictates that will never happen. And that's wrong.

It is attitudes like yours that contribute to the perpetuation of the double standard.
Would you say these same things to a gay who was offended by the TV show I offered?

"Why so uptight?" "Relax, it's only humor" "Change the channel if you don't like it" "No biggie"... We hear these sorts of dismissive things all the time when it's a white or a straight that is offended. But dare someone offend a gay or a minority and suddenly it's "Oh my goodness! We must do whatever it takes to make this right so as to not hurt their feelings!" and the offender gets beaten with the PC bully club.

Crap.

The PC double standard is despicable and I call it out whenever I see it.

In what way do you find this offensive?

Just the whole double standard premise that the show is built on.
If a straight uses the term "queer" it's considered a slur and they get clubbed with PC. But gays can use it at will and even use it in the title of a TV show.

And the show assumes that straights are stuffy and stiff so they need the fabulous gays to save the day and help correct them.
Try making a show called "Straight Eye for the Queer Guy" where a group of straights tries to make a gay femboy more masculine and see how that flys. :s

Life / Why Poland is "surprised" by winter and snow every year? [192]

It's just a money-making ploy. It wasn't the case in communism

Is it true that most over there still do the Winter tire swap?
It used to be big business, when the first sign of snow sent everyone running to the tire shops to have their tires changed. Then changed back in the Spring. ...peeps kept their "snows" in the garage or the basement until needed... But we got away from all that years ago. It seems so old-fashioned now.

I don't think I have ever owned a set of "snow tires" myself. Maybe my very first car or something...

You guys still change out your tires to snow tires?? We haven't done that in years. Over here most cars and SUVs have what are called "all season" radial tires. The tread isn't as aggressive as a snow tire but better than a straight performance tire. The only folks I know who still swap into snow tires are pickup trucks -because they are so terrible in the snow- and plow trucks and the like. And maybe a few dopes whose only car is a performance car that is unsuited for snow driving anyway, no matter what tires they put on them...

What makes men attractive is their confidence, self control, intelligence and a sense of humour.

B)

Chicks say this sort of thing but then ignore the chubby homely guy and head for the svelte good looking dude.

Women love that V shaped jawline on a man, supposedly looks manly

I thought they like square jaws?

less attractive means less women will try and steal him away.

And here's this again.

Not necessarily. I repeat myself, "I personally believe that they don't have much choice and get what's available".

In my village the girls , who are all quite pretty go for the guys who are not drunk every night , have a car of some kind that works , and have money to spend on them..

Looks don,t come into it....

Of course not every girl can land the cream of the male crop, but all this making do with what they can get and settling for what is available is all somehow very saddening.

Nice, genuine, pretty girls, be they in Poland or wherever, deserve better.
No wonder so many of them try to get outside of P-Land...

Go abroad and find a boyfriend!

yep, it happens a lot.

Besides, it's the whole person that makes one attractive. Alone the cover doesn't count anyway (well, it helps a little

So all these uggy Polish dudes scoring the hot chicks must all have great personalities?

bcoz they believe handsome boys hangout with them only couple of days than will separate on the other hand lets say ugly boy will never let them alone bcoz ugly boys know that they can not find that beautiful girl !!

You're not the first person here to mention this. Do you think this is really a concern for Polish girls, truly a conscious decision?

It works... you know a tadpole goes to a target... and then it happens... ;)

I know that part! :p But how do all these ugly Polish men have such pretty daughters?

Well, when I watch those stupid shows on MTV I don't consider American men to be very atractive. Some shallow but'heads with fake muscles and narcistic attitude... are you all like that?

Oh, America has its share of ugly idiots too.

compared to what countries? Saudi Arabia? Nigeria? Kenya? Morocco? Pakistan? India? China? Honduras? Brazil?

Lol! Compared to them you Polish boys are all a bunch of model studs! :D

So Poland seems to have too many pretty girls for its small stock of good looking guys.

I think this is all the more reason for more of the lovely Polish ladies to come to the US! :D

We'll trade Poland some of our uglies and minorities in exchange.

It seems that those ugly guys have pretty daughters... pretty strange considering a fact that most girls takes after their dads ;)

Yeah, how's that work??

I like Kojaks. I was thinking about posting an interpretation of attractiveness of bald heads for some women that is coming from some of the psychoanalysts , but I gave up.

You should do it. It might be interesting. I know some girls go for that look.

how do you know whether a baldie's ejaculation has completed its route into his palm or has reached different membranes?

Good point! How does the scalp know if one is masturbating or having intercourse?
Therefore Nat's theory should apply to the lonely as well as the over-loved alike! Everyone should be bald!

i've also seen many Scary Marys in Poland, some aren't that hot and take that whole "I'm a Polish girl so i'm pretty" concept to their heads.

Aw, the poor uggers need lovin' too. Let them have their delusions! :)

Hair Loss Due To Over Masturbation

Uh-oh. D:

Reducing the frequency of masturbation or ejaculation will help maintain low levels of DHT and avoid hair loss.

Meh, maybe being bald wouldn't be so bad. :D

ey, i'm a good looking Polish man, not just from what i think but the kind of girls i'm able to get.

No offence intended, PB. I subsequently tried to cover you too...

I must add that I have also seen a few very good looking Polish males, too. They're not all ugly or unsuited for the hot Polish babes.

Absolutely! The ratio is vastly disproportionate.

Do you agree that this disproportionate ratio is more apparent in Poland than in other places? What is it? Something in the Polish male genes? We of course have mismatches over here too but not on the level of P-Land.

I have to keep from laughing in clubs, seeing some spudhead trying to get a model-like girl.

The boys seem to be getting it done though! :)

At least I'm not the only one who has noticed this phenomenon. But I must add that I have also seen a few very good looking Polish males, too. They're not all ugly or unsuited for the hot Polish babes.

I think this summarizes the situation perfectly.
But don't you agree that there seems to be an unusually high number of ugly Polish men while a high number of good looking Polish women which causes this mismatching?

(Don't mean to offend my male Polish peeps here. Just cutting to the chase.)

or maybe take his pick of the women.

Lol. So you're bald and get manicures?...

Anything else you'd like to share with us, Richard?
