Love / My Polish girlfriend's mother called her a prostitute because we live together [113]

So you suggest that Welsh is some kind of worse breed

where the hell you got this notion from? I described a case I know without suggesting anything at all. We don't have any problems with neither Welsh nor with any other Brits here.

I think he was

almost right but she would sound even better :-)

Love / My Polish girlfriend's mother called her a prostitute because we live together [113]

Most Polish mothers consider their daughter marrying a foreigner a huge success.

Most doubtfull sentence I heard today.

when we lived in Mikolajki, I've met a girl who was about to get married with an Welsh guy and her whole family was very happy about it so I guess Midas is right about what he's saying.

Life / Is Lady Gaga popular in Poland? [47]

Why so vulgar?

it's just an expression, nothing really vulgar about it.

I know a lot of people who appreciate good show for whatever reason.

of course you do and that's why I said that it would be a generalization to put it the way you did it earlier. People are people, SHT likes LG and guesswho doesn't but it has nothing to do with being Polish or American.

Generalization my foot,

After all isn’t it the American way?

only if you like to generalize. How one feels has nothing to do with one's nationality.

Life / Is Lady Gaga popular in Poland? [47]

Man, even if you spent 1000 years, you wouldn`t create better than Gaga. Don`t be foolish as Polonius.

Our terrible and destructive media has been fooling people with this disgusting "noise" for years now and I have to say, they were obviously very "successful" otherwise we wouldn't have a muppet of a president here too. It's not about singing and making sense anymore, it's about dressing up like a slut and putting on a show, that's all. Hey, if this is what you like, that's just fine with me but I (however not often) have to agree with polonius as far as Lady Gaga etc. no matter what you or others say about it.

The thing about cheap and tacky popculture is that just when you think there could be nothing worse than the gap-toothed slut Madumma, a Lady Zgaga comes along and proves you wrong.

I fully agree with you here, she sucks really bad and I wouldn't even call it music to begin with. It's just as bad as techno, rap and hip hop.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

what I was saying goes way beyond their transportation problems Sean US. C'mon, whoever lives or lived in Poland knows that it's not really a lie that many Poles still have to struggle (and I mean a serious struggle) to survive.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

Not many kids in Poland suffer from a lack of all three.

I've only posted what Businessweek,.com says about it and now I see I have to choose between what they say and your comment. Since I was in Poland long enough to be able to talk about it, I tend to agree to at least some of what they say. I've met many young Poles and they were telling me about their families financial problems and many times, they (or their parents) even asked me for help. Yes Sean US, I did have a feeling that many people are poor in Poland (however I've met some really rich ones too).

Who is poor in poland!!!

The Eastern European country's economic miracle hasn't lifted all boats. More than 25% of Polish schoolkids grow up in poverty

Work / Some cold, hard facts about teaching in Poland for newbies [101]

Guesswho, when I combine my privates with my regular school work (teaching hours), it only comes to 27 or 28 typically.

this is what I thought too. Even back then, it wasn't easy to get the hours together. He worked in Krasnik on Mondays and Tuesdays (they paid there better though) and then he also worked in Lublin too. I do have to say that if we had to really depend just on that money, it would be a struggle but as it was, we used the money to party :-)

40 full hours a week isn't going to be sustainable - with private classes,

I wonder how many of you (English teachers) actually have the "40 full hours a week"? I remember back in 2003-2007, my dad had about 20 - 30 (max) but the pay was better back then (according to what you say now), he was making between 35-55 an hour (depends on where it was).

UK, Ireland / Are Polish people importing a new wave of ancient racism into the UK? [402]

yeah, most of them obviously get it all mixed up. That's why I came up with an example that a female who is not physically attracted to another race and wouldn't sleep with a black guy, isn't a racist. I call it a matter of preferences.

Yes i am, but I'm not racist and backwards like the rest of them.

#Mohandas Gandhi

#Nelson Mandela

Belonged to a terrorist organisation and is believed to have sanctioned many terrorist plots against innocent Blacks and Whites in South Africa.

#Ernesto "Che" Guevara

"We're going to do for blacks exactly what blacks did for the revolution. By which I mean: nothing." -Che Guevera

"Mexicans are a band of illiterate Indians." - Che Guevara

"Given the prevailing lack of discipline, it would have been impossible to use Congolese machine-gunners to defend the base from air attack: they did not know how to handle their weapons and did not want to learn," - Che Guevara

Che Guevara also railed against "long hairs," "lazy youths," and homosexuals.

Life / How Safe Are the Polish Cities? [179]

Where are the safest places to live in Poland?

Well, in our 4 years in Poland, we had 4 incidents, mainly in Lublin area. Nothing has ever happened in Mikolajki (Masurian Lakes) though.
