Actually it IS the most assured way to get a passport. With the other options there are more steps involved and more paperwork needed.

In Spain for example you get married...have to be married for one year and reside in Spain for 6 months of that then you are eligible for citizenship.

Most places it is 3-5 years but it's still the most direct route.

Why is it that every third world foreigner who marries a European SWEARS it isn't at all about the papers...yet they end up living in Europe rather than their country?

News / Should 16-year-olds in Poland vote? [58]

Well I do think the age of criminal responsibility should be low...you are able to grasp right and wrong at a much lower age than you can understand the impact voting can have on the world.

A 12yo knows it is wrong to light the cat on fire but he has no concept of politics.

And in the US church and state may be separated in The Constitution but that's the only place. Anyone who thinks religion doesn't affect/control politics in the US is living a fantasy.

Genealogy / If your ancestors were in the "Wehrmacht"... [217]

Hitman is some teenager who is living a fantasy to escape his boring life in a flat with 8 of his family members.

In any case the honor of past relatives is not YOUR honor. If you are a loser you are still a loser no matter how heroic anyone in your last might have been.

News / Should 16-year-olds in Poland vote? [58]

I think it should be even older in most places. 25yo or more to be honest. Your average 18yo isn't experienced enough to make such decisions. Of course they THINK they are but only when you are older do you realize how untrue that is.

15yo? No....f'ing way. a 15yo dpes not have the experience or sense to know what they are talking about.

The only people who will disagree are young people who think they know more than us older folks. One thing they do not have that is essential is experience. They do not understand the consequences of their actions yet because they haven't had enough time to experience enough.

Work / Typical rate for 1-on-1 English lessons in Poland (Krakow)? [37]

You stated a "fact" to try and antagonize people who don't think like you. Pope John Paul II was a great man. Did a lot of great things. Whether or not you believe in his religion or politics he was a far better man than most who walk this earth. So have some respect and stop trying to pick and choose your "facts"

I'm not even Catholic and I find him a very good and honorable person.

Real Estate / Options for dealing with dishonest landlord in Poland [36]

Haha...it sounds just like the kind of nonsense that drove me away. You will be amazed once you leave...I had gotten used to those kind of games and it had changed me for the worse. I am not sure if people are messing with me now that I am back home because they are so nice and efficient. I keep waiting for the catch...heh. Poland really drags you down.

I also agree that if a landlord started asking for all that I'd tell him to find another renter. A signed contract is all he needs. The most I would do is show him my ID so he can confirm the name is the same as our contract but he wouldn't be getting a copy of my ID, passport or any of that. He sure as hell wouldn't be seeing my contract if I had one either. He doesn't need to know where I work or how much I make etc. None of his business.

I don't mind the joke at all...I chuckled :))....I mind YOU telling it after all your outrage against such jokes. Quite obvious you are the hypocrite.

You also clearly have an anger management issue with all your capitalized screaming and !!!! marks.

ETA: I am not Jewish and have no feelings one way or the other about them as a people just in case you had some tirade prepared. You seem to have some odd Polish/Jewish/Nazi love triangle thing going.

How does a Jew break a mirror?

By looking into it.

I want to quote this so you can't edit it out as it makes everything you have ever complained about irrelevant. By telling this joke you have taken away any credibility your complaints may or may not have. Thanks for that...you discredited yourself better than I ever could have ;)

Do you like jokes about Jews having big noses and Jews being ugly?

No I only mock Poles...it is part of my global plan to demean the Polish race. I am but one of an army of people whose sole mission in life is to persecute you and spread hate about your horrible cuisine and business practices.

In fact....our supreme leader IS a Jew...it is against charter rules to tell Jewish jokes.

Did someone hurt your feelings with a Polak joke when you were a kid? You sound like you have been harboring this grudge for a very long time. You are pathetically obsessed with it.

ShortHairThug

He has cut and pasted that "essay" here 5 or 6 times in the last month alone.

I like jokes because they make me laugh. They are not some secret plot to oppress anyone. Get over yourselves. The Polish cultural insecurity is the problem not the jokes.

Life / COMBATING "POLACK" JOKES [460]

Hey! This is on topic so stop moving it.

A Polish man had a bandage on each ear. What happened? "I was ironing, and the phone rang!" "What about the other ear?" "Had to call the doctor!"

That might be true. But than again, most of them are not funny at all.

Only Poles think so. They would laugh if they were about Russians or Germans. Hypocrites.

I've lived around Poles all my life and never heard any of these Polish jokes. Is it some sort of American thing

No it's an everywhere but Poland thing. Of course you don't hear them if you live around Poles because they aren't going to tell jokes about themselves...they are way too sensitive for that. No senses of humor.

Real Estate / Options for dealing with dishonest landlord in Poland [36]

Object all you want because MOST landlords in Poland will try to take advantage of you. They nickle and dime you and do as little as possible when it comes to repairs or holding up their responsibility. Also Poles do not understand the concept of what a room or flat is worth...they ask ridiculous prices and then rather than lower the price when they get no takers they leave it empty for a year and p!ss and moan about how 'cheap' the clients are...some even raise the prices. It goes with the Polish attitude of "you should feel lucky we are taking your money". They also usually lie about the standard of the flat and neglect to tell you about things that are wrong which causes you to waste your time shopping around.

My personal experience there and that of all people I know is probably on the order of 80% scum 20% decent.

Real Estate / Options for dealing with dishonest landlord in Poland [36]

He is more likely trying to cover some loss he is responsible for. Landlords do this all the time in Poland. I had it done to me a few times. They try to use tenants to cover their administrative costs etc. They count on people being afraid and giving in. Tell them to p!ss off and that's the end of it.

The Polish "meh" attitude is really prevalent when renting. Try to get something fixed without a huge battle, trying to get them to register you without a huge battle...nearly impossible. They smile and take your money but if you ask anything of them they just refuse knowing that most people will not take it to court.

Ah good point on tax and registration. I had a great landlord the last time but my previous ones were righteous tw@ts. The worst are old women. They act all sweet but will try to cheat you whenever they get the chance.

I would tell him to get f*cked..and make sure he knows that YOU know what he is doing is illegal and if you hear another word of it you will make sure he is brought to the attention of the Police. As has been said landlords in Poland usually operate using intimidation. People are afraid of getting in trouble or losing their place to live so they cave.

In this case he has no control over your current living conditions and he is not going to go to court and incriminate himself for bullying you. He will move on to the next victim.

Why would anyone date someone for 3 years just to get a passport. It doesn't make sense.

It makes a lot of sense. If someone wants a passport to a certain country that is the most assured way to get it.

USA, Canada / US resident, have a baby with a Polish girl. Need help on Polish Passport. [30]

I would go put that passport in a safety deposit box at a bank and give the key to your lawyer so it's not in your home.

I would also register the child with that link I gave above that registers the child's passport and flags it if someone tries to take them.

You know...since she is illegal all you can report her to ICE as long as you are sure you have legal rights to the kid. She has no legal grounds to bargain or dictate anything. But be sure you have verified you have legal rights as a parent in your state because it varies.

Love / Do Polish women have bad tempers? [49]

We also have fur on all our bodes and huge claws.

Some girls don't shave down there so I agree with the fur comment...and you call your claws "nails" and spend a great deal of money on them.
