Poland has developed at an enormous pace in the last twenty years. It (she?) is growing in every way as a modern, energetic European country.

Has it really?No mister, it has not.Time to face reality.My favorite comparison is S Korea and Poland and I am asking where is Polish Samsung or Hyundai???Everything is sold to foraigners and the Poles own nothing and make nothing.Before "transformation" Poland was making cars,jets,rail engines,computers,home electronics,tractors and so on.Now,Poland doesn't make *****. Everything is imported and the only "investment" are foraign banks and supermarkets which transfer bilions of EURO/USD abroad every year.

absolutely 4 million leaving in 8 years, says it all really.

The "elites" had it all planned.One can call it releasing the pressure.This 4 milion if not allowed to leave sooner or later would revolt against regime so they were pacifed by allowing them to emigrate.This is a huge Polish tragedy.

No they don't,it is just that people don't read small print on their contracts and then blame everybody but themselves vide Amber Gold lately.

This is simply not true.Actually capital market in Poland is over regulated.As for investment funds they work just like elswhere,you know,risk-reward and stuff.

On the other hand inflation is high, and so not putting money somewhere is self defeating, so my feeling is that finding a trustworthy advisor (or two) is pretty critical

I think banks/advisors can create you individual portfolio if you have at least 100 000 PLN so it's not an option for you.Still,I wouldn't do it.Just open an investment account (rachunek maklerski) in any biuro maklerskie and buy yourself some stocks or bonds.

Personally i would get into FX trading,

I wouldn't go into anything what requires leverage.He has too little money to lose them all within a week.Stocks is what he wants and needs.

It may surprise you but North America is not only Toronto and in the US,which is also located in North America and is a much bigger place than Toronto "Polak/Polack" is a derogatory term for Polish person so be carefull using it when talking to Polish people living in the US.

What are you trying to achieve here man?I mean seriously, I can understand your frustration but posting here won't do any good.If you want to do something about Poles in the UK you got to take to the street as here nobody cares.Stage some demonstration,join anti immigrant party or something,i don't know.not that your posts bother me,I just feel kind of sorry for you and your hopeless efforts to achieve I don't what here.

Nah,not yet,though I am pretty sure I won't be staying in the uS till the end of my life.

Since 2004 I have been back in 2006,2008 and now.I would be back more often but it's a pain in the a s s to travel.

Yeah,some for better some for worse.For instance,instead of widen a road they ******* got rid of this emergency half lane and put these ******* islands in the middle of the road.If I had to drive here I would be like WTF are these obstacles?Some new and pretty big buildings in Sieradz and on the outskirts of town some people built freaking mansions and I mean mensions.These houses would be going for at least a milion USD (but probably more) in the US.Wonder where they got money for it.A lot of driving school's Toyota Yaris (pissing the rest of drivers off) so it seems that everyone wants to drive (and Americans asking me if there is a lot of bikes in PL when I am telling them how much is petrol in PL).

I came for longer visit (can stay here for up to a year without losing residencey in the US) but my mother is kicking me out now so next thusday I will have to catch a plane to the US.

Yeah,it is time to start some career (I hate to think that I will HAVE to do certain things,what I liked the most about my little taxi company was that I was FREE and didn't really have to do much) and be done with it a s a p as I can not wait to go on retirement.I will buy myself a little cottage in a countryside in Poland or Czech Republic and won't be giving a **** about the rest of the world as long the world won't be bothering me.

-) -) -) I like it!Now,it's Leje jak Z CEBRA.Ceber is an old word for wooden bucket and nobody in Poland uses this word anymore except for Leje jak z cebra.

That would mean "pisses like a Zebra" as lać also means "to piss" (to take a leak).

You won't need a visa once granted residency.

All I can say is that with a Polish residence card, you will legally be in Schengen for the duration the card is valid regardless of how Poland feels about it.

Not true.Residency in Poland does not give right to live and work in other Schengen countries.

I also wanted to add (but was too slow on my edit) that since you don't need a Schengen visa, you won't be able to obtain one.

He (and you) does not need a visa if he is coming here as a tourist but if he wants to work or study he needs to obtain a visa.

I didn't have to.I am Polish.

I didn't like this:

It is freaking tiring, arduous and laborious to get a visa

It took me some time,money and effort to become permanent resident of the US and it wasn't a walk in the park either.What I am saying is that I didn't expect USCIS to hand me PR card just because I am Mr. [insert name] and I fancy living in the US.I read requirements for becoming resident in Poland and they seem to be pretty lax when compared to US.Could be that I had misunderstood you though.

I think you are right,it will take at least a generation to change the image of Eastern Europe as a grim,poverty ridden place where the sun never shines and people walk in mud up to their waist.Las night I was reading travel reports from Poland and a couple of authors were reffering to EE as Eastern BLOC countries.

You got to change your attitude man.It is not like anybody can go to the US or Japan and get residence permit without a valid reason and some bureacratic hustle.Rules in Poland seem to be pretty lax compared to US (don't know about Japan).

It seems that Eastern Europe gets really bad rap and a lot of it.I just googled "Eastern Europe" and here are some results.

let's do some business here in Poland

I am serious dude.there are tours of Japanese visiting Żelazowa Wola (where Chopin was born),Warsaw and Kraków and if you provided them service in japanese you could make a decent living out of it.Poland is still relativelly undiscovered as a tourist destination and maybe you being a Japanese could find something attracting more Japanese to come here for a visit.Think about it.

Don't go back to the US,

You know,you got to do what you got to do.

thought it would be not that hard for me to find a job in Poland with knowledge and command of English.

English doesn't give you any advantage in Poland,just ask British members of this forum.But I think you might find a job as a teacher of Japanese but you would have to go to a city bigger than Tarnów or Rzeszów.Also,many Japanese companies in PL eg.Toyota in Tczew.

If Poland makes you happy come on over,we can fit one Japanese here, not a problem.If I was to stay in Poland (I am going back to the US)we could start some services for Japanese tourists.

Sadly I do, Grubas! it was "sanitized", so to speak, into "to chew the price down". yet the vicious racism of the original intent comes through loud and clear.

When I was asked "You are not going to Jew me,are you?" it was more in a sense of not giving a fair share for the money/rip off.I must have looked shocked (never heard it before) because this person immidiately said "I am not a racist or anything!".

If you've lived in a country a paltry eight years and expect to know it as well as someone who's known that language their whole life,

And where/when did I claim it?Huh,point to one post where I am saying that I know English better than a native speaker.All I am saying is that my English is LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF YOUR POLISH and no sane person would argue about it.

It's also never just saying "I know English better than you know Polish!", it's what kind of English do you know!

It must be your hurt pride that you keep arguing but the truth is that whatever kind of English I speak/know it is still LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF YOUR POLISH.
