speak, no. but i domread and write hebrew, ancient greek, i am playing with hyroglyphics, and latin. but polish is what i speak most of, cause my cousins are polish and i am going there in three weeks.

by the way does the same apply to asking 'does'. like ' does that sandwhich taste nice'

its the concept of ' do i' im confused with. my book talk a lot of cynić and so on. but im still not clear.

oh that has put the brakes on a bit, i understand bo to mean'because', dlatego to mean ' for that' and zę to mean 'that'. have i misunderstood.

poland was on here own due to her locality. lets not forget, stalin and hitler had already made plans to devide her up long before all this happened. look at who were the winners of all this, walkswagem, aeg the electric company, agfa the film company, and worse still lets not forget that the vatican has had her share also. so lots of palms were crossed at that time. most took the view of these subhuman poles that were of no consequece. and that view was rife al the way through.

funny hiow the poles were not subhuman when they fought/with for britain. it was not possible for any force to make its way intompoland to help them, they would have been anihalated. the only sol;ution was to crush the nazis as soon as possible, then we can liberate poland and the rest, which is what happened.

my mother witnessed thwe horror of those times, how the poles were treated was evil. war time will make you do all kinds of things, just put yourself in thier place, if it meant your life being saved by having to kill a jew, you would do it. these people wre starved out of exsistance. lets not forget, before all this, hitler and stalin had already decided that the polish people did not have a right to live, they were considered vermin. the polish peole suffered badly at that time, and when i watch these news reals, and we have lots of them here in uk, it makes me sad and very angry. i might even be called justified if i went and beat a german, but that was war, hitler is now dead, poland is free. she paid a high price for her freedom. i am going to poland to see the mass grave where my uncle ended up, so i feel sorrow for poland. dont you think we should be putting aside these views, and lets get on.

it was not enough for hitler to put down the uprising in the ghetto, he had to flatten the whole area. but on a good note, we flattened dresden and kicked ars in berlin. its just a shame the twisted freak had to take the easy way out.

as you say, ill stick to the common, co'what', jak 'how'. im sure the more i speak with my cousin the better i will get and understand more. we all know the tenses are the most confusing.

by the way szwed, can i follow up on something you said, What do you mean? co pan znaczy?
you said should be O co panu chodzi?
that i read as, about what you go, im not totally up on the chodić thing yet, as i undertsand it, znazcy means 'mean'

i am a bit more confused, i am reading more and more phrases with the question 'what', and the polish use the word jak and not co, or czego, what are the rules for this word.

i use jak when i want to say 'how', co when i want to ask 'what, but i also use the gen czego for 'what'.

most of the time i can tell what they are saying, but there are others where the quesiton is' what' and the polish word used is jak.

What do you mean? co pan znaczy?
What is your name? Jak się pan nazywa
What do you expect? Czego pan oczekuje
What sort of book is that? Jaka to jest ksiąźka

i understand the difference, but i suppose the most cofusing part is knowing which to use. if iwas expressing going in the car, i would use jechać, walking as you say i would use idę, szed, so i still have i little issue if which one is best. as you say, iść, is to go. but it doesnt say how you are going. maybe that is not such a gramatical error, i would be understood. when i go to poland in sept, maybe i will come back speaking a little better.

my polish is quite good now i am told, but as you say, these issues can only be resolved by speaking the language a lot, which i dont have that luxury. if you know the errors in the link i would be glad to hear them. as it is i understand more about the use of the words.

if you read my reply you will see i did thank you, and lots of people answer my questions. the point is they realise patience is needed. what i have from you is if i dont grasp it right away, you come back and say you cant help, thats fine. dont be shocked read some of your own replies as though you were the one asking, then you might be shocked. i have come a long way since i began learning, you helped a lot till you lost your patience. but in case you missed it, thank you!

you might want to think that at times some answers generate more questions, it doesnt mean we are not listening, it simply means we need to get it right in our heads.
