USA, Canada / Why do Americans (and Canadians) hate Polish people? [226]

Tymoteusz:
Am I Polish? Northern Irish? Native American? Help me understand.

I think you may be a bit of 'all of the above', right?

Why won't you answer this in your own words?

I thought you were asking that of z_darius, not me.

Afraid it will force you to see me as human?

Not at all - good people can disagree. No harm, no foul.

Will that interfere with your rage?

It's unfortunate I gave you this wrong impression of me.

Thanks Rich!

You're Welcome, T! :)

Genealogy / Searching for Cousin in Warsaw Poland name:Małgorata Kralczynska [19]

My comment was about the efforts of Bzibzioh and pgtx helping in John's search.

As for me, the records that I had managed to locate were birth, marriage, death
and travel documents from 1910s-1930s Poland - some of which I found at BYU.

So, to answer your questions: I did find most of this information via the internet;
still, seeing the results here, I may have been better off just asking people at PF!

Oh well, too late. I'm already a Polish Citizen just awaiting a PESEL and passport.

USA, Canada / Why do Americans (and Canadians) hate Polish people? [226]

Just because Americans make jokes out of everything

Actually, there's quite a lot to be said in that...

Here are Three More for the Road...

"A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is privately concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men who, even if their action be honest and intended for the public interest, are necessarily concentrated upon the great undertakings in which their own money is involved and who necessarily, by very reason of their own limitations, chill and check and destroy genuine economic freedom." - Woodrow Wilson; 1912.

"We have restricted credit, we have restricted opportunity, we have controlled development, and we have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated, governments in the civilized world--no longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and the duress of small groups of dominant men." - Woodrow Wilson; 1912.

"Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes the laws." - Mayer Rothschild; 1790.

I fix'd that for you.

The Socialists have been killing innocent people for a long time, and to this day it is against democratic processes around the world.

How can that not mean that Socialists hate all people, except for themselves of course.

160 million people last century. I lol at your faux moral superiority.

And I re-fixed it for you.

The Capitalists have been killing innocent people for a long time, and to this day it is against democratic processes around the world.

How can that not mean that Capitalists hate all people, except for themselves of course.

160 million people last century - deaths ultimately financed (and profited) by Capitalists.

We don't want to end up like them :S

Funny; we just create them, is all.

They were afraid of communism and the Russians.

Not in 1898 they weren't. Russia was an ally.

Americanos gave millions if not billions

Not that the Haitians will ever get it.

John;

A quick 'Google' search shows that you may have been looking a while on another board(s).

In case this has not been suggested, Brigham Young University has an extensive database.

Birth-Marriage-Death Records. It may be worth a go. Good Luck. I admire your persistence.

Travel / WARSAW OLD-TOWN RESTAURANTS? [25]

Try Folk Gospoda

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!

It was the only place I could find Stuffed Cabbage and Red Beet Soup to my liking.

Oh, and the (5 1/2 liter?) Draft Beer was always a nice complement to the meal :)

Language / Is it too late for me to learn Polish..? [65]

I'd give my right arm to learn Polish - of course, I did that to learn Korean, so it would now have to be my left arm :)

Work / Quiet Place to teach English in Krakow ? [24]

Yep, it's a laid back area with some great little haunts to explore. You will have fun I am sure :)

I totally enjoyed my visit there. Wasn't 'Schindler's List' (in part) filmed there?

Law / WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE EURO CURRENCY TO POLAND? [101]

Some nice fellow EU country we have in Greece.

Of course, the Banksters - along with their derivative-playing minions - had no role to play in this. They're all just here to help... :)

Problem is Israel and Japan aren't threatening the Eurozone nor are they begging for alot of money from the Euro-taxpayer

True. The US Taxpayer has got that mess covered.

News / WHY DOES POLAND BUY GAS FROM RUSSIA? [105]

American technology to produce shale gas is unleashing a scramble for drilling rights in Poland, where experts believe vast reserves of unconventional gas exist that could help to weaken Russia’s grip on Europe’s energy supplies.

That about says it all... as if the US - with its own vast quantities of drillable shale - is looking out for the (business) interests of Poland. Right... ;)

Life / I'm from Polish descent. CAN YOU GUYS EXPLAIN THE EU TO ME? [115]

There was a whole thread on this in 2008

I didn't know that - this being an old clip, I was sure to show its date. :)

I would like to know what they own in Poland, what they have 'bought up'.

EDIT: This is not today's article. This story is dated 10/01/2008

Israeli Investors, Businesses are Flocking to Poland

"Real estate developers investing in residential and office buildings, shopping malls, medical centers, hospitals, cinemas, food and beverage."

"Reports of Israeli investments in Poland indicate that there is an ever-growing Israeli presence in Polish real estate and hi-tech. But no one really knows the true extent of Israeli investments in Poland, because a number of Israeli companies are registered or merged under different names in other countries..."

News / Vietnamese Busted for Selling/Growing Herb in Central Poland [11]

The thing is, if it was taxed and controlled properly

I totally agree with your position.

Still, the cynic in me asks "why collect only tax revenue instead of the whole lot?"

This, of course, would be the question asked by those who traffic in the goods ;)

Good post - especially given the fact that some in question are illegal Vietnamese.
