News / Community action in Poland [7]

nah, dude it a spin. They divide all grass roots activists on the correct ones (i.e. those leftist agenda supports) and taboo ones, bad ones (patriotic).

They are creating a false dichotomy on one side s called grass roots democratic activist (our lefties) on the other populist far right wing conservatives radicals (all the rest).

No examination of the exciting currents in the society - waste of time.

Nothing to do with reality just typical lefties baby food and Dougie swallow it like a baby.

News / Ultra nationalist protest at death camp in Poland - serious mistake? [146]

You made a weird statement without clarifying anythi

Me? Dude you labeled and called people demonstrating publicly their views - freaks - just because you and them hold different views. That harsh, particularly if someone like you preach about tolerance, love and that other leftie staple diet about hate speech and whatnot.

So I only say one thing to you - people who live in the glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Odd how there are people sympathetic to the far right.

Odd that there are people who are in love with Marxism and other leftie BS. Even thought that ideology killed countless millions of people and enslaved even more. Must be something in the water or those who are into that red BS are particularly dense and stuck up.

To make it clear. I defend a right of people to publicly express their views, opinions or political likes in a peaceful manner. Excluding obscenity (LGBT parades), fraud, pornography and speech that incites imminent lawless action (ANTIFA).

News / Ultra nationalist protest at death camp in Poland - serious mistake? [146]

No one should be able to demonstrate or march within five miles of these places, let the dead rest in peace.

tsk tsk would you forbit it to the Israeli youth? you anti-Semite? Unless you mean that only the locals should be kept on a short leash. (sarcasm)

Why would you think that?

I'm asking you. You have been a kind enough to describe people that have been using their right to demonstrate publicly as freaks.

however it will be gratifying to see this issue dealt with by the courts.

Sure, hand them all or shoot them in the back of the head. For the good of humanity of course.

crowd of banner-waving freaks.

Would that be banners with a rainbow color on them?

they tarnish the image of all Poles

Nah, that just baloney. If anything people like you are the problem, some dicks that apologize for being alive, bending backwards if some dumb and arrogant Jew shoots his lying mouth. There should be a tit for tat.

Probably there will be some ritualistic boot licking exercise for some spineless politicians in Poland. THAT is the real problem and a fact that people will still vote for such spineless creatures. Realistically it doesn't even do Poland any good.

News / Ultra nationalist protest at death camp in Poland - serious mistake? [146]

Dear nationalist Poles, get down to work

Another one, why don't you do it, eh? Uncle Good Advice. Do it yourself rather than tell other what they should, shouldn't, could, couldn't and so on. In your opinion is it stupid, fair enough. Others think is a good idea or that there is nothing wrong with expressing particular views in public - for example - in that demonstration.

The worst are armchair generals and self-proclaimed wise men, shooting down anyone is active and DOES something while they themselves are sitting in an armchair and contemplate their bellybutton.

Instead of spitting into somebody`s face

Well, that someone has been spiting in your face many times in the past. However people like you pretend that is a rain. It is a Good thing if someone would spit back. However that is not the case. Since when the truth is offensive? If someone things facts and the truth offensive there is something wrong with that someone, that is clear.

o go down the list saying what he thought was wrong with the people from those countries and why he thought Poland was so much better.

Most likely distorted by Pc crowd and what he actually was saying was along lines that all that PC BS and lack of values is bad for everyone. Boo ho!

News / Anti Iranian conference in Poland [24]

This is nothing more than kissing USA and thus by default Israel's ass... Its pathetic...

Ditto!
Jerks, PiS from this angle is no better than PO. One could argue it is better to kiss up to the USA than to Germany but I say such attitude is bad regardless. Jerks, clueless jerks.

Poland had historically good relations with Persia. A big mistake to F with Persians as if they were Arabs. They are not.

History / A History of Gdansk, Poland [130]

Yeah...because it was a german town by then...part of Germany.

Sure, but then here a big word - partitions of Poland.

There was never change in hell that Poland would agree to be cut off from the Baltics sea, right in the middle, the estuary of the river Vistula. So the will of residents doesn't change much and doesn't means much as it didn't in 1794. Its geopolitical and strategic interests at play. It is rather a German state that had been extended too far to the east a waaay beyond its strategic boundaries and a geopolitical place. It was only possible due to the fact of disappearance of the Kingdom of Poland. A freak accident not a rule.

.The Treaty of Versailles

dude, you cry so much about that treaty. How unfair it was. Well, it is a question of a perspective and you know as a German and a Prussian you shouldn't be so hasty to call others on not being fair.

Contributions? After Franco- German war in 1870 Germany not only annexed French territory but imposed a huge contribution on the Frenchies that allowed them to build up the German infrastructure and manufactures.

Loss of the land. Come on - when it comes to the east it wasn't loss if you compere it to the border from the 1772. Yes if you compare it to the border from the 1914 that is a great lose. So here let me pose a question - why would you do that if you are not a German nationalist? eh?

From the Polish perspective it was only a restitution - not even a gain.. Hell Poland didn't even get Gdansk back. My take on this is that you have no cause to whine about it. Not really.

That was expulsion, de-population, exchange of population or whatever you want to call it including theft of their properties by victors "law" !

Not really. If there were some irregularities that goes both ways. Ante bellum Poland wouldn't have that big German minority it had if your story were 100% correct.

Is not as if Germany wouldn't or didn't do the same and worse if the circumstances were reversed.

History / A History of Gdansk, Poland [130]

Danzig it has been the german Hanse since 1263 under Lübeck Law

nah, it got a German elite after 1306 when Teutonic order massacred residents of Gdansk and invited settler from various places in the holy roman empire, technically they were romans lol!

such a deeply polish town!

Well, it Polish city do doubts. like residents Turks or whatnot doesn't make a German city today Turkish.

By the way beside language or whatnot there was different mentality and attitude towards identity and loyalty in those times. Modern one stared to develop at the end of 18th century and in 19th century.

Given Gdansk example - in 1794 when Prussia too over the city majority of residents including 'German' elites were very much against it.

In 1918 when a Free Danzig state was created - residents were against it. Not only 100 years of brainwash in schools as said but also views loyalties and such changed and that contribute to that change in attitude.

History / A History of Gdansk, Poland [130]

Prussia has always been much more than any undistinguished local kingdom in terms of revenues, self-government, stability, culture

Dude, Royal Prussia was a province of Poland, Ducal Prussia were as vasal of the Crown with those revenues and whatnot you mentioned above. It was a backwater with only one mayor city and a port - Konigsberg. Look, you don't know so shut up and stop showing off.

The first Protestant semi-state due to the grace of his Royal majesty the King of Poland, the Grand Duke of Lithuania, Duke of Ruthenia, Prussia, Mazovia, Samogitia, Kiev, Wolynia, Podolia, Podlasia, Smolensk .......

Maybe a little, but in practical terms I think it's mostly irrelevant.

Sure thing. Never claimed otherwise. I and BB going a long time on PF and we have our debates all the time. In practical terms is irrelevant.

For many of those years, Danzig was mostly German in culture

As were many cities in the Kingdom of Poland, yes elites of Gdansk were mostly German in culture or that culture dominated in those prominent circles. Yet the dominant culture in the province was Polish like elites and their culture were Polish.

--- Gdansk became that prosperous due the fact it has been the mayor port for the Polish trade they at time fed half of Europe.

History / A History of Gdansk, Poland [130]

board the moment the next ruler decides to change borders

I'm talking about a specific historic reality. Not mixing past and present and what the hell else you want to throw in the pot.

Historically people of Prussia who were subject of the Teutonic order formed (grass roots - modern term) conspiracy and rebelled against their government/rulers. They asked, applied to became subject of the King of Poland and that what had happened. They made their own decision as a community regardless of the language or whatnot. That wasn't the issue for them.

I never said anything about their mentality being German or want not. WTF are you about? It was possible to speak German at home and be a loyal Polish subject i.e, modern terms in today lingo their were Polish.

Hey I need to finish my wife is nagging me ...

Do you? Maybe you just know F all and hence you cannot distinguish between a nugget of a new info (new to you) and crap?

I'm talking about mentality and reality which were real for the people of those times.

History / A History of Gdansk, Poland [130]

o, all these Germans, which spoke german and latin, were secret Poles...ah ja...

Secretly? No, they were proudly and openly loyal subject of the Polish Kingdom and thus were their political affiliation. Translating it into modern terms their were Polish.

Dude I think it is a language barrier here. You seems to be missing my point. Not the first time. I guess and I don't want to be a dick here, your English is not up to task.

By the way, how do you know they were limited just to those two languages?

What makes that different to the polish partitions?

Err, nobody force they into it. They choose it, it was their own volition. No one Conquered them or took over all German provinces so they had nowhere to go if they would like to.

Iron...famous people from Danzig.

The point is that their names mean nothing, people with German names can be Polish and vice -versa. Residents of Gdansk were loyal subject of the Polish Crown they were Polish, End of story. What do you not understand?

History / A History of Gdansk, Poland [130]

The Hanseatic leage needs no myths.

Not, but it was just a trade corporation with a huge self-governing rights. Yet, it was typical to the time, as states, kingdoms moved towards centralization and establishing more firm control of its provinces the league just vanished.

I get it that in todays centralized world with omnipotent all controlling state it is nice to have some myths about free cities, lone rangers of the medieval world and such but that just a myth. In fact if you were some low key struggling merchant at the time such a corporation F you up a big time or you had to pay them and listen to them if you wanted to feed your family. They were no charity.

From Prussia. Thank you.

Yes from the province of the Polish Kingdom. Thank you.

It was much much more than that.

No, it wasn't. It was typical for that time period people and organization were more self-relying. That Myth is being created today.

A list of famous Danziger

So what?
a Polish scholar of Slavic languages and literatures - Aleksander Bruckner.
Józef Unrug was a Pole and Polish admiral who helped reestablish Poland's navy after World War I. During the opening stages of World War II, he served as the Polish Navy's commander-in-chief.

Karol Bunsch - Polish writer.

Just from the top if the head. There is more.

The Hanseatic league had a stronghold there; l

Dude that league was a trade cooperation of old times, they could pretend to be something else as long as local rules let them do it. There is a lot of myths about that such leagues.

as 'z Prus'.

So from the Polish language. Thank you.

The thing is I really don't care about anything that happened for 1800 (or better 1900

I get it. It is an American sentiment which stem from the fact that further down the history line when it comes to USA is just a wall. I can sympathise with it.

.but not one of the oldest polish cities! Small but important difference! :)

Nonsense. You're splitting hairs here to sell that old Chesnutt. Poland hasn't been a kingdom of a one pure ethnicity as defined by the 19th century mystics, there were lost of subject with different origins yet all of them were subjects to the Polish Crown i.e. they were Polish.

looking at the past with a modern perspective distorts the truth.

In 1454 residents of Gdansk well Dazing rebelled against monks with swords and swore allegiance to the Polish Crown - them and their progeny had been a loyal Polish subjects for many generations, they were against being incorporated into Prussia in 1794. I guess 100 years of Prussia rule and brainwiping changed it.

Yet to say that in circa 1550 Gdansk wasn't a polish city is a pure garbage. How many Turkish cities are there in Germany?

History / A History of Gdansk, Poland [130]

Or course Gdańsk was a German city (Danzig) for most of its history

huh?

Gdańsk (Dantsic and variants of that in English, though we say Gdansk now) is historically not quite Germany, not quite Polan

Nah, Gdansk was Polish with various immigrant communities thriving there. Including Scots. Only after Poland lost it to Prussia during partitions it became German.

ought to remember that in 1308 Teutonic Order wiped out Polish residents of Gdansk and in 1945 those who didn't run from the Red Army were gradually resettled.

In historical terms Gdansk was integral part of the Polish Kingdom.

Life / Jehova's witnesses in Poland - how to deal with them? [110]

Here is a shocker for some of you:

You're one of those people whom I call stupid clever i.e. their own cleverness make them stupid, mostly due to their ego.

By the way ever heard about a case when somebody believed himself so clever and as a such so above the rest of the human kind that he went and murder someone just to prove that he can get way with it. Didn't need a God or any other voices in his head telling him what to do to kill.

What people are using as an excuse is not even an issue. Atheists or Not, people are saying all kind of nonsense. It is the way they act in the world that tell us what they are. In this way majority of the Atheist crowd are just nerds with big egos running around like kids - saying Look at me, look at me I'm so clever and good and I don't need any superstations unlike you dumb believers.

All those is to it. In fact they still act as if they were Christians minus religious chores.

would they stop being nice if given an irrefutable proof that God is just a fictional story?

Isn't that a rhetorical question? An irrefutable proof that the God doesn't exist is just no happening.

Some people are just nice and if their niceness is reinforced by their beliefs so much is better. However that question makes no sense in a society and a civilization that had grown on Ch. foundation and is peppered with Ch. values. Even the very question you pose is so very Ch. that it is kind of funny. An sovereign individual is a very Ch. concept.

limit Dirk and Mazur to only 12 words per post. If they start to talk about human garbage, Muslim immigrants in Europe in threads with different topic, limit that number to 6 words per post for three weeks. That should be a new learning experience for them.

Ah and if Deepak start showing off and gets banned to came back with yet another moniker just put all his posts under his real name. That would make it OK.
