Travel / Poland in photo riddles [3134]

Next hints: the first letter of the ZKS abbrevaition refers to the name of the region in southern Poland which is located close to western part of Lesser Poland.

Zagłębie (Dąbrowskie) I presume, but... aaaaaaaa, this makes no sense because those colours aren't associated with Zagłębie :/

Work / A job at a real estate agent vacancy in Wroclaw [22]

Buying or leasing a piece of real estate is a big and expensive decision and people will go for experience.

However, on personal experience recently, Polish real estate agents simply don't know how to sell. No-one follows up, or bothers to put any effort in, and that's on a property significantly bigger than some shoebox in a communist block in Warsaw next to a strip club.

Thirdly, some trips were sponsored from EU grants.

I managed (once!) to get funding for a trip to the UK. That was quite nice, because the kids got a chance to stay with British host families and to use English for real. It's a huge shame with Brexit that it probably won't be repeated. Ireland is still on the cards, but the UK just has so many more possibilities.

while many Poles face homelessness and hunger.

I think you don't understand how Polish schools work, so it would be wise to refrain from commenting on them.

A hint - the name of the city doesn`t show in the club`s name - they used the name of the region instead. Geographical and historical name.

I HATE YOU.

I'm immensely enjoying this riddle and yet I'm cursing you for how devious it is ;)

It might be a problem, it isn`t on the first page of google results, I

I've searched well beyond the first page!

Bah...you will not win this one ;) ZKS Olimpia Elbląg :) But I only win this one when I can answer you as to the reason for their friendship...

edit: Got it, I think - Olimpia Elbląg have some feud against Arka Gdynia, who are friends with Lech Poznań. As a result, they seem to have developed a friendship with Legia Warszawa as part of the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" philosophy of Polish football alliances.

Food / American baking products (bread, shortening, etc) [19]

In fact i had a great job cleaning at Waffle House when I was in college and their hash browns are great

Waffle House is fascinating to me as a business, especially the way that they just keep on going. Natural disaster? No worries, Waffle House will be open!

I'd like to try their version of hash browns, just because it looks so completely different to anything I know.

Damn you Pawian, this is a good and enjoyable riddle ;)

I know that Legia are more than just a football team, but where's the connection here? I will find it!

hmm...who could it be?

I found a reference to "Związkowy Klub Strzelecki" in Warsaw, and I found some link between them and the Legia shooting club, so maybe this was in some Varsovian suburb?

Food / American baking products (bread, shortening, etc) [19]

can't be worse than fried tomato and ...beans (for breakfast?)

I still can't understand that Americans don't understand a good fried breakfast :(

blasphemy!!!!

I promise one day to go south of the Mason-Dixon Line and try for myself!

Speaking of American food, I watched this entire video a few weeks ago - youtube.com/watch?v=rY32voilw_A - and what surprised me was that hash browns are something completely different there.

I cannot think of anywhere that does biscuits, gravy, grits, greens

Blurgh, there's a reason for that! Biscuits and gravy looks to be completely inedible and revolting, not to mention those horrid-looking grits.

News / Polish Airline LOT has the biggest fleet of 737-8MAX in continental Europe..grounded [18]

A critical design flaw that cant be changed easily.

Have you seen this article?
seattletimes.com/business/boeing-aerospace/failed-certification-faa-missed-safety-issues-in-the-737-max-system-implicated-in-the-lion-air-crash/

Can't argue with your post at all. The 737-Max 8 was just a step way too far, all because Boeing were trying to copy the Airbus philosophy of having commonality in the A320 family when the 737-Max 8 was clearly not the same plane as the classic 737 family.

You've forgotten to add that 3 (I think...?) of the 787's belonging to LOT are also parked because of engine issues. LOT are essentially having to lease planes at a high cost just to cover flights, which means they're going to sustain astronomic losses.

I would not have got the biblical gardens though, as I didn't know they even existed.

You haven't seen the awful JPII one? ;)

It's a huge tourist trap and moneyspinner. The guy who owns it has made a fortune from pilgrimages!

Life / What do decent Poles think about true rightists ? [148]

introduce an IQ tests for all new immigrants

Let's go further and revoke the vote from anyone with an IQ lower than 5-10% below the average. After all, why should uninformed voters be able to influence the country?

Life / What do decent Poles think about true rightists ? [148]

The problem is that if I tried to relate to all arguments presented there

In fairness, it's a struggle to understand what his argument is. As far as I can gather, his diatribes seem to focus on some sort of mythical Pole that lives in North America and retains "real" Poland, while actual Polish people that speak Polish are somehow "Soviet fakes".

It's obviously a case of insecurity ;)

What are the occassions?

The first one, I've never seen before. Some sort of pasowanie na gimnazjalistę, perhaps?

Second one looks like a cake to celebrate 20 years of teaching English, either in the school or for the teacher.

But why did you say pupils? I cope with students.

Students are only at universities in my opinion, though there's a move in England towards calling secondary school kids students as well. From what I can gather, the use of "students" originates in the grand old schools like Eton, which is possibly one reason why American English uses it so widely?

In Scotland, pupils is normal for both primary and secondary schools. So, blame my education ;)

Sorry, if you want to reach me, you must write shorter posts.

No, Pawian. Don't you enjoy his lengthy diatribes that no-one is actually reading except himself?

As an incel, he has nothing else to do with his time anyway.
