The knackers paying tax? Id have to see it to believe it.

I was referring to the method of frightening people to pay money to avoid a kicking

usually 'taxmen' prey on drug dealers who are another group of people who cannot exactly complain
to the cops

The link below is to a gentleman who when not beating seven bells out of drug dealers and robbing
them blind ran for mayor of Middlesbrough - now there is a town where it is best to be very humble
when out on the lash

Work / Advice on Teaching English in Poland [709]

first off, I am not an English teacher however there is a real demand for English-English translation

you would never be able to find enough work to offer this service alone but it is a valuable string to your
bow and sets you apart from non native speakers

One of my business partners had received an offer from a Romanian company - it was very well written
but was not in perfect English. He wanted me to explain it to him in simple language.

this is where native speakers really come into their own as I could tell him where the Romanian had not
been clear, or where he had used the wrong word, or some idiom taken out of a Victorian novel that
no one has used in the last 100 years.

It is this service that makes a native speaker English teacher invaluable as you can focus on real business
problems and give advice. this is more important than reading The Economist and being able to comment
on the market for bauxite in South America, particularly when your client lives in Lublin and works
in a sausage factory

you would be amazed at the number of English teachers who never have the sense to ask if their
client could show them a letter that they wrote.
some clients get a bit pompous and talk about confidentiality and that is the time to offer to whip out an NDA
it really puts them in their place self important bastards

News / The cross in Polish parliament - Does it bother you? [100]

Olaf: As Bill Hicks jokingly said, though, do you really think Jesus wants to see a cross upon his return as the Divine Messiah?

it wasn't his best work but he went out sh!tting himself, riddled with cancer, dying alone in the end as we all must do

on that happy note... your Anti-Christian sentiment is almost as obsessive as the most rabid born-again and and born-again-blind evangelist
it is almost like people who give up smoking cannot stand other smokers

like a misery loves company sort of thing if you will

come on, what is the story?

I am intrigued

in fact that was originally a quote from Seanus but I am intrigued to hear your story about why you feel so strongly against the cross

my personal belief is that I do not really have particularly strong feelings either way with regards to the cross in parliament and believe that the church

should keep its snout out of politics. Then again hanging a cross up in parliament cannot really do any harm in a country which professes to be God fearing

UK, Ireland / Websites for Poles to benefit from Britain! [210]

I detest dole bludgers and benefit scroungers, especially foreigners.

says the woman who posted that she wanted to come to Poland to live her for two years whilst learning Polish and asked about claiming the dole on account of having British grandparents and having contributed zero in the way of paying stamp in Europe

but having the right to claim nash so why not claim

does this not smack of hypocrisy?

as for being an equity trader, please tell me what you define as equity?

nylon tracksuits perhaps? Westlife CDs?

it does look like a tabloid

let me just give you the jist then

a group of criminals are intimidating the Irish traveller community.
they are said to have links to the IRA and they are taxing travellers

xxx

I can think of easier people to intimidate however the travellers tend to sort things out in their
own fashion and do not involve the authorities - whereas most gorgers would go running to the police

I actually have no problems with the knackers.

me neither but I agree they can be rather intimidating, but seem to have plenty of troubles of their own
probably why they would not be in a hurry to return home in any case

I was interested in gauging your opinion on how you would feel about the travelling community descending en-masse on Eire

I am sure you have already read about it, but would be interested to hear your views

Calling for foreign leeches to be removed from the country is not bigotry. It is common sense.

so I take it you would be welcoming back the Irish travelling community with open arms

I would welcome that as well

Law / Medical Malpractice in Poland - seeking accountability? [146]

For4 is a decent guy and is doing the right thing by asking for opinions rather than just forking out for legal advice without seeing if he has a hope of winning in court

I remember reading about the nurses in a hospital (I think it was Lodz) who were taking photographs of premature babies holding them in their pockets. These were babies that were born months premature and they would stand there with a tiny baby in their breast pocket

they were all sacked, every last one of them. Then reinstated.

Law / Irish welcome on Polish building sites ? [47]

Returning members of the diaspora.

good answer :-)

I checked out the links and I remember reading these articles in 2009 when they first came out

I cannot believe that a canny politician did not take the Polish based main contractors to court for unfair discrimination
Can you imagine the political mileage they would have made out of that?

... and as I have not heard of any such court case where an Irish politician brought out a writ against a Polish main contractor, I am fairly sure that the whole story was simply made up.

This kind of thing is just political dynamite and the fact that no one took advantage of it strongly suggests that it never happened or at least no one could find evidence of it happening

Law / Irish welcome on Polish building sites ? [47]

An eye for an eye. Deport each and every pole from Ireland.

Pick your favourite immigrant group then

The HSE have just recruited 200 Indian and Pakistani doctors to work in the hospitals in Eire.

Could they find European doctors? oh no. They did not even try.

As for these stories about no Irish on building sites in Poland, I think they are all bollocks
I am not saying that someone has not made a sign for a laugh and stuck in on a building site somewhere
but I have not heard any stories and I visit quite a few sites in work

Law / Medical Malpractice in Poland - seeking accountability? [146]

For 4 has clearly had a loved one who has suffered at the hands of a Polish medical professional to the extent that he is asking for advice as to what his legal position might be in taking the hospital to court for its negligence. You appear to find this funny.

Law / Irish welcome on Polish building sites ? [47]

I have not heard any stories about signs on Polish building sites saying 'No Irish'

looks like a nasty wind up to me

whether anyone from Ireland would want to work on a site in Poland is another matter entirely

the rate of pay will be low - less than the minimum wage back home
the winters are cruel and the safety on site in Poland is not great

wooden scaffolding unless you are working high rise
Wooden pit props instead of acrow props
jacobs ladders - which are completely prohibited in the UK and Ireland

and then there is the language thing. Don't expect your colleagues to speak English
which then adds to the dangers
if someone is yelling at you 'don't stand there' and you do not understand what they
are saying then you are going to get badly bust up

there are openings for specialist trades - I am sure but it is more likely to be in marble, diamond drilling or
site decontamination - somewhere where you need to have specialist equipment which enables you
to get a half decent income working on the price

due to the snob factor, having a one off kitchen designed and installed by an Irish kitchen fitter would
appeal to some wealthy Poles

there are much easier places to earn a crust though

Law / Medical Malpractice in Poland - seeking accountability? [146]

this is the unfortunat thing about PolontheMed and her posts. One or two facts then a heap of lies or some convenient omissions

she is someone who would not offer help to anyone in need and a sad reflection on what has happened to Poland

Stu, have you received medical training? you explanation was indeed most succinct

If you want a symbol representing a corpse of a martyred man and his death tool hanging there - then there's something wrong

your lack of faith must be a great comfort to you :-)

always remember that there is nothing that an atheist can't do if he doesn't know if he believes in it or not

History / Do Poles really blame Britain for Poland becoming Communist after the war? [104]

He is forgetting that in some days whole RAF were claiming more shot Germans than German's loses.

good point

and that is normal as pilots would often shoot at multiple planes and if they saw one of them crash then you would have several people claiming they had shot down a plane. One of the reasons for the Germans changing tactics in the battle of Britain was that their pilots were doing the same thing and Goering was convinced the RAF was on its last legs based on reports he was getting from the Luftwaffe. When the Luftwaffe flew into Mallorey's Big Wing, they were amazed where all the British planes had magically appeared from

Law / Medical Malpractice in Poland - seeking accountability? [146]

it is a tricky one

I know that getting admitted to a Polish hospital is 'easier' than in the UK
in the UK, you need to be on death's door to get admitted to a hospital

in addition, Poles appear to be more respectful towards the elderly. Giving up seats on trams,
I have not heard of granny dumping, not battering old ladies for their pension books etc

I would have thought than for an elderly person to get admitted to hospital would be relatively easy
and once there I would have thought that they would have been well looked after

A nurse is not a cleaner edit

kindly re-read my post
I was referring to English nurses being too posh to wash

I am aware that there are hospital nurses, cleaners and porters in both Poland and England

However the attention to the personal hygiene of the patient in the UK has been criticised by the Royal College of Nursing
Here is a link:

telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1461504/Young-nurses-too-posh-to-wash.html

The incidences of MRSA in Polish hospitals is lower than in the UK

only because the nurses were chasing bullshit degrees and got so far up their own arses rather than breaking out the carbolic

UK nurses became too posh to wash

Some of you guys tell stories from middle ages . It is not today`s Poland, doctors make salaries 15000 -30000 zł a month . They really don`t need your gifts .

she is absolutely right

gynaecologists are raking it in and probably earning more than gynaecologists in the UK

no wonder the hospitals are up to their tits in debt

For 4: this is why you need to think carefully about you want to take a hospital to court - they do not give a sh!t and you could spend a lot of money to find out that the courts don't either

Law / Medical Malpractice in Poland - seeking accountability? [146]

what they did to one of my friends is that she had to pay for anaesthesia but they did not give her any

the hospital had already sold it to another hospital - a scandal which made the papers if I recall

I do not condone threats of violence against women however

one of the favourite tricks of the reception staff is when a pregnant woman turns up, they tell them
that there are no beds and they tell them to get a taxi to another hospital

the mother starts to give birth in the taxi enroute to another hospital, there are complications and the baby gets brain damage

way to go, Polish health service

News / Radical right organizations in Poland [23]

it is a matter of semantics if feel

18,000 souls being machine gunned, does not exactly make it a holiday camp

the quote comes from a quote on the Polish Nazi site that Southern so kindly found
it is the one that compares Hitler to Christ

Law / Medical Malpractice in Poland - seeking accountability? [146]

it was indeed nasty - they put their pith hats, monocles, handle bar moustaces, safari jackets and ruined the lives of countless Asian doctors

so if you were the number on son from Pakistan, the family would sell the farm, your sisters would not be able to get married due to a lack

of money for dowries and then the dear old GMC sank the knife in between the shoulder blades

Law / Medical Malpractice in Poland - seeking accountability? [146]

A lot of Polish doctors went to work in Germany however they needed to speak... German
and their salaries were poor. and they were treated like dirt by German patients and colleagues
but they could walk away with a bright shiny specialisation diploma so it will all be worth it

contrast this with the UK GMC (boo hiss) they promised Indian and Pakistani doctors 7 year
courses to become consultants and then changed their minds and betrayed those doctors
did not allow them to get qualified and then cancelled their work permits

several Asian doctors committed suicide as a result
the UK press hushed it all up as usual

well said

in a country where 100 PLN will get you signed off work with an illness of your choice

Some Polish doctors are the kings of graft

as gynaecologists are making so much money knocking out illegal abortions, the bribe to get on a gynaecology specialisation is
utterly astral. I heard 200,000 euros being quoted

News / The cross in Polish parliament - Does it bother you? [100]

Let the churches put Christ first for the sake of its flock, and the politicians the nation's people for the sake of Poland.
To Caesar what belongs to Caesar. Jesus saw governance as a separate issue to faith, ime.

could not agree more

well said

I believe that the cross should stay in parliament. If there is a place that needs the divine intervention of the Almighty
it is a parliament
