Love / My boyfriend is on a Polish dating site [158]

Check the computer history... to see where else he is going.

If he has wiped the history... he might be hiding something.

Love / My boyfriend is on a Polish dating site [158]

If it was a fee paid website I would question it

If he is just jumping around one or two websites and taking a look... less serious

On the other hand, if I were looking at dating sites I might find myself answering some serious questions.

Travel / My vacation trip to Poland (detailed description with pictures) [13]

Nice report. I do enjoy these longer posts that have something to say, and the addition of photos helps too.

Your busy street in Wroclaw... doesn't look very busy :)

The amount of billboards and their location does lower the tone of the place.

I've had one rail trip, out of many, where everyone on board had to open their bags. If it's for my safety I don't mind. We've never had the car stopped.

Why didn't you call me for a beer when you were in Wroclaw? :)

Love / Asian guy in love with Polish girl (any chance?) [125]

Do I have a shot at all if I ask her out?

Only one way to find out. If you don't ask her, someone else will. She can only say yes or no,

Ask her to do something that doesn't restrict her. Like going for a coffee, and then take it from there.

Travel / Driving to Poland from England - any tips? [264]

The eastbound E36/A18 from the Polish border to Wroclaw is in a terrible state.

Is this the eighty km stretch from the border ? Once you get over this and if your suspension is still intact the road is OK.

Law / Foreigners Getting Married in Poland - a Guide to Formal Preparation [54]

and want a traditional polish wedding, well what we can

Have you checked the threads on the forum ? There is plenty of marriage info.

Are you getting married at a church with a Polish congregation ? If you are the priest will help with that part.

The order of things: Wedding ceremony... wedding reception, which is music and dance until the early hours... a morning after the night before breakfast and round of drinks. Some Polish weddings, but not all, last all weekend.

To make it Polish you need the right music and a list of those traditions that go with the reception. You might like to use the traditions that suit the region your family come from.

UK, Ireland / A collection of noimmigration's threads or "STAY AWAY from BRITAIN" [978]

This has to be stopped, why is my tax going to smelly slavic children

It's not just the British who are giving handouts. Other countries do it too.

Also, you should know that there are Benefits Workers from Britain working in other countries to ensure that those who are entitled get what is owed.

Check all the facts, not just those that suit you.

News / Polar bear attack - a Polish guy survived [38]

Anyway it should be a warning for all you tourists planning to visit Poland early spring.

I've always understood that the Brown Footed Mazurian Bear is far more dangerous than the pure white bear.
The Brown Footed has a habit of catching sailors and overturning boats on the lakes, in summer.

Life / Fashion and Style in Poland [174]

Instead of returning to Poland in trendy London clothes,

I don't know if London ever had the best clothes. When I lived in the London area I used to go to Leeds for fashion items. Only a couple of times did I have trousers made in London.

Mind you that was donkey's years ago..

Travel / Driving to Poland from England - any tips? [264]

We need to know if you are visiting north, east or south Poland.

The routes could be completely different.

If you are coming to Wroclaw your route will take you just south of Berlin, for example.

Travel / Best Easter Eggs in Warsaw? [9]

Surely I'm not the only one with a sweet tooth?

I'm sure you are not, but we don't have the Easter Egg tradition here. At least not big choccy eggs.

Work / Education in Poland - system and structure [118]

The Polish that come to the UK are more educated than the British.

I'd like to see a European version of: Top Of The Form, Blockbusters, University Challenge.
Then we'll know the truth.

UK, Ireland / Polish Festivals/Exhibitions/Events in UK [91]

Yes, I could also be interested in setting something up.

OK. I will attend the PD Polish Festival for:

Polish music... traditional and modern
Polish beer
Polish food
Polish/British business contacts.
The chance to meet one or two Polish celebs.

Given a little time: I'd like to see a web-page, press coverage etc before being convinced it would work.

UK, Ireland / Polish Festivals/Exhibitions/Events in UK [91]

But wouldn't that exclude people like me? I'm not Polish, and my neighbourhood isn't particularly Polish.

No. My point is that they are the best people to help [us] because they might have the contacts etc.

I'm actually saying that we or someone on the forum can organize, with help, a new festival.

A Polish festival would be better in an already established Polish community. There are areas of the UK with such people.
Wouldn't it be an idea to get in touch with one of these communities. I mean there are long standing Polish clubs in, for example, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Someone should make a phone call and maybe get something started for next year.

News / Are Poles good enough for USA (to go there without a visa)? [288]

Feeling a little bitter, are we? lol

Why so ? I have plenty of work.

There are quite a lot of people who have worked hard here and now find themselves in higher positions. Admittedly, a lot of this was made possible because some folks left the country. And I can assure you that there are quite a few here, not just me, who don't want people coming back to upset the balance.

Many of the business ideas that people might bring back from the UK are already taught here at university and business schools.

Since Poland joined the EU, I'd like to see where Poland has gone backwards. It hasn't.

News / Are Poles good enough for USA (to go there without a visa)? [288]

And with a little bit of cash to invest in Poland it has to be good for Poland.

Poland is doing very well with investment at the moment. Wroclaw is growing, as are other parts of the country, and the people who left have nothing to do with it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. To the people who left what they thought was a sinking ship. We've done alright without you. Don't bother coming back.

It is because these people left that job prospects and higher pay are on the increase for those who stayed behind.
One reason Google is opening up shop here is because there are plenty of qualified people ready to take on the work.
We have lots of Retail, Banks and IT positions as well as management offers being filled by competent staff who stayed behind.
