News / Tusk or Hollande -- a Salomonic dilemma? What will be better for Poland? [180]

ince the traitor Tusk is back in the office we have to prepare to fight off Brussels forcing Islamists on us

I agree that on principle there's no reason for Poland to try to help Mama Merkel keep up the pretense that her 2015 decision to open German borders to all comers was anything but an unprecedented disaster.

But look on the bright side, if they do send "refugees" here they'll just immediate decamp back to Germany.

Study / Looking for suitable English secondary school in Warsaw [17]

I want him to complete in Warsaw, Poland to get in the unversity there easly

The only university education worth anything in Poland is taught in Polish, english language programs are small and not very good (to put it delicately).

So you'd want him to finish a Polish high school which is easier said than done if he doesn't already know Polish.

Why Poland?

News / Tusk or Hollande -- a Salomonic dilemma? What will be better for Poland? [180]

(Elsewhere it was translated as "you have your principles, we have the money" -- both in extremely poor taste!))

Tasteless but accurate. Do you think a lot of voters would be happy if JK's hubris and small-mindedness stopped the flow of EU money?

And a multi-speed Europe sounds pretty good or do you want to finally accept the Euro and have Poland lose all control over its economy?

News / Tusk or Hollande -- a Salomonic dilemma? What will be better for Poland? [180]

will find a place at the trough for him

I dunno, JK was pretty dismissive of him when asked if S-W would be able to join PiS saying in effect no promises had been made.

The US government that PiS most reminds me of is GW Bush, almost everyone who tried to work with him ended up burned and regretting their contact with him.

News / Tusk or Hollande -- a Salomonic dilemma? What will be better for Poland? [180]

If one assumes

that you're suffering from a massive case of "sour grapes" then one expects you to write what you just wrote.

Tusk was a popular prime minister has been a popular whatever-it-is-he-is-now and Poland blew a massive amount of goodwill and respect because of JK's all-consuming irrational hatred for him.

The government just did massive damage to Poland's image and interests in the EU with their little stunt.

I only hope Saryusz-Wolski finds comfort in destroying his career for JK's destructive toxic desire for vengeance (for what? who knows? who cares?)

Life / What items is Poland's market missing? [20]

connected to the idiotic myth that drinking cold drinks will make you sick

Especially in warm weather!

Traditionally Poland just doesn't have any conceptual space for liquids that are colder than room temperature. It's kind of getting one but not too quickly.

News / Tusk or Hollande -- a Salomonic dilemma? What will be better for Poland? [180]

The populist parties are quickly losing support in Holland and France and especially in Germany.

Why is this? Is it because more mainstream parties are modifying their policies and become more euro-positive (as opposed to middle-eastern/north africa positive) or is it fatigue and/or dishonest media?

normal people get organized and fight back against the petty and simplistic demagogues

Depends on what you mean by 'demagogues'.

Life / What items is Poland's market missing? [20]

the main reason why Americans want their drinks ice cold, they like flavourless stuff

you've obviously never had southern ice tea (tea infused liquid sugar)

it's just a cultural thing (like japanese and koreans liking food that's scalding hot) americans think the cold brings out the flavor certainly very cold cola tastes better than lukewarm

News / Tusk or Hollande -- a Salomonic dilemma? What will be better for Poland? [180]

All in all, this was Poland's hour of triumph in apparent defeat

Again, you are such a commie tool.

This is straight out of Fidel Casto's playbook called "turning defeat into victory", never admit defeat and trumpet any setback as a great victory until the people believe (if they know what's good for them).

Why don't you just call yourself PRLonius3?

And about ice, the average American consumes hundreds of times more ice than the average European.

American way of making a cold drink (like ice tea).

1. Fill the glass with ice (pack it in!)

2. Pour the (already cold) liquid over it.

European (incl Polish) way of making a cold drink

1. Fill the glass with lukewarm liquid

2. Drop two sad, little, already melting ice cubes in it.

Burqas are rare in Saudi Arabia. Are you confusing it with the niqab,

Yes, I got frustrated for years of noone understanding the word niqab...

1) window screens. My God, what a difference they make in quality of life, just being able to sleep at night during the summer

I think they're a hard sell in Poland, people think of firanki in the same way (though they don't work as well)

Cold non-alcoholic beverages in stores. Extremely hard to find in Poland

Actually extremely easy to find now, any żabka, fresh or similar store keeps some drinks cool (maybe not frosty american standards but cool enough).

But almost all muslim majority societies (at least sunni ones) are converging around Saudi norms. The Saudis have successfully imported burqas and other toxic customs into many sunni majority countries.

Don't you think this is a problem? (not to be solved by facilitating people from those countries into Europe)?

It's just sensational journalism intended to play to the fears of reactionary people.

In other words you have no problems with the facts, just the source

I notice little criticism of any of the other religious courts, like the Catholic Marriage Tribunals, also based on the same Bronze Age fairy tales and make-believe.

Didn't Europe have enough middle eastern religions? why import and support more?

Interesting that you've managed to find quotes from the three most right-wing newspapers n that country

Is it accurate or not?

Please if you know of any information that discredits those article (other than not liking the source) please feel free to post them here.

The "holy trinity" is the nickname for my friends, Harry, Delphian and Jon. Three minds in the one body.

I know. And I meant what I wrote. Nothing indicates that they want equal rights for muslims, especially women.

Sharia courts are a graveyard for womens' rights and supporting them means active hostility towards the idea of any kind of equal protection or equal under the law (But since there's no British legal system I guess law by identity is the order of the day - one law for muslims, anothe for jews, another for christians etc etc etc).

Sharia courts are not very good for equality of muslims in other ways too as they encourage and reinforce ghettoization so that the muslims that they want so desperately to bring to Poland will remain ghettoized and never be competition for them.

The holy trinity have an agenda they are trying to push onto this forum.

Part of that is that they don't want muslims to have equal rights, especially muslim women

Why are they so prejudiced against muslim women?

News / Tusk or Hollande -- a Salomonic dilemma? What will be better for Poland? [180]

Hardly. Lech and Putin had something in common.

Just be quiet, you don't know Polish and don't follow the Polish media. JK and AM have consistently implied that Russia is responsible. I don't believe that. But that's the official PiS line (the idea is Tusk and Komorowski conspired with Putin).

But, in case when two leaders (Lech and Tusk) travel and only one of them return to home,....

They didn't fly on the same plane, the flight that crashed was planned by JK (in a petty political spat with Tusk who was already PM). If you want to blame anyone, blame Kaczynski..

Just lurvely how it's working out, isn't it?

Food / What are favorite herbal teas in Poland/especially loose leaf? [15]

I would really appreciate if you could help a little group of three students and answer this short 16 question survey and possibly share it for me to all your Polish family and friends.

Shouldn't there be a Polish version of the survey?

News / Tusk or Hollande -- a Salomonic dilemma? What will be better for Poland? [180]

Jarosław Kaczynski blames Tusk for the tragedy of his brother Lech.

Only because it's easier than blaming himself...

fueling ideas that plane crash was truly a coup d`etat, an assassination, organized by some circles from the west of Europe, EU or NATO

or............ RUSSIA?!?!?!?! That's the scenario that JK and AM keep pushing.

Sometimes a plane crash is just a plane crash

There's no such thing as the "British" legal system.

You don't have a consitution and you don't even have a legal system? What kind of pathetic excuse for a country do you have there anyway?

Work / Finance Work in Poland - is it hard for a non-Polish speaking person? [35]

Trying to humiliate me

Okay, I agree that dominic is no ray of sunshine (quite the opposite, a little raincloud bringing gloom and despair wherever he goes) but if you cna't take what he says then you'll never make it Poland. It can be a great country to live in but you need to toughen up and learn to be assertive or you'll end up with shoeprints all over your face.

Poland is not super religious but it's not post-religious like most of west europe (which also means it can survive, post religious societies usually get eaten for breakfast by religious ones).

News / Penderecki, Poland's greatest living composer, accused of being SB informer [62]

Does that incldue UB/SB types skilled at pulling off fingernails with pliers or using dental drills on the interrogated party's heallthy teeth?

I'd love to put people that did crap like that in jail, but it requires a detailed and careful appraisal and not mass banninations.

Poland has never shown the political will to come to impartial recounting of the communist period.

News / Will Polish-Americans need visas to visit Poland and other EU countries? [21]

Americans don't seem to know either, and they could give two *****.

Yes, any time an embassy stops charging processing fees that's more money has to come from somewhere else....

But (as in the previous thread on this topic) visas for Americans won't come into effect until 12 months after the EC passes the vote (and AFAIK it's not on their agenda).

At present this is all just political showmanship...
