News / Poland's democracy defenders in Brussels turned out to be EU employees. [62]

herding

One needn't crack a literal whip but simply brainwash and delude people with all the high-sounding albeit deceptive thetoric into believing they are somehow defending democracy to herd them into the streets. In general people are conformists and go with the flow.

The effect on the markets costs people their jobs

But the KOD rabble-rousers are willing to let the country suffer, lose jobs, scare away investors as long as they selfishly think that will somehow restore their waning privielged positions. BTW next time you circulate amongst the rumpus raisers ask about how many were in the PZPR. You may be surprised, although many will probably decline to answer or deny it.

effect on the markets

The effect on the markets and the EU of the hysterical protests and stitchery is undeniable. If the opposition had acted in a civilized manner and tried to launder their soiled linenes at home rather displaying them abroad and snitching world-wide, the markets would not have got the jitters. Without the sntichers' pressure and lobbying on the EU, Poland would not have been placed under surveillance. But the hateful ad resentful opposition eagerly undermine their country's reputation and will stop at nothing to get back to the trough. At present the EU is not keen about holding kangaroo court or passing resolutions over Poland the Sniotchinas and other Heil Petrus are pushing for it. Some have even suggested the NATO summit might get called off and are hoping it does so they can blame that too on the government. But this all he opposition's doing. Now they are blakmailin the president with an ultimatum and again broadcasting it far and wide knowing the hacks will pounce on the bait. I'd be ashamed to ally myself with such treacherous, ego-tripping renegades.

Use proper names in future

PiS

Less so than PO, but it's not PiS that stands to lose by being pushed away from the trough. It's the hateful, resetnful and desperate disentiteld oens, many ex-reds and SB snitches amongst them, that are raisng a rumpus.

grassroots reaction

You mean a grassroots reaction to the disentitlement (getting pushed away from the feed trough) of former privileged elites, including PZPR and nomenklatura types. That has about as much in common with democracy as a juicy f*rt does with Chanel No.5.

Merged: PO scam involvign Israeli lawyer

PO Chief in Piaseczno near Warsaw Łukasz K. has paid a 200,000 zł fine in connection with a corruption scam. In exchange for a bribe he agreed to use his contacts to allow Moshe T. to build a housing estate on city land. The CBA had detained Łukasz K. in one of Warsaw's hotels. The Israeli was ordered to pay 20,000 zł.

Yet another contribution to the long list of Platformer scams and irregularities!

people out on the streets

So herding people into the streets is some kind of contest or competition? It surely does not improve a single thing in the country, deosn't help raise the GDP, reduce poverty or smog. Its only redeeming element is getting people to exercise in the "fresh" city air (better than couching in front of the telly) and gives hacks something to report.

bringing up Petru

Haven't you seen him self-proclaim himself "the leader of the opposition movement"? Because of his frequency of appearance on the small screen to many he is the face of KOD whether or not he is actually in cahoots with Kijowski & Co. Word is going round that KOD want or plan to register as a social movement (or maybe already have) and possibly evolve into a political party. Would you know how rank and file KOD supporters regard Petru? Don't tehy ask what a banker and promoter of the owner/employee caste has to do with democracy?

Amazing the hostility

Amazing the hostility online towards Poland's democratically elected government and the first ever to win an outright majority. That hostility does not exist in Polsih society except amongst KOD fanatics and virulent GW/TVN propagandists. In chatting with ordinary Poles exercising the dog, shopping, waiting at tram stops and surgery waiting rooms, many are neither pro nor anti-govt but are fed up with the whole business of political overkill -- KOD marches, Sejm harangues, Petru, EP debate, etc. If you don't see that, it only means you interact primarily within a niche group of like-minded devotees rather than a representative cross-sexction of Polish society. After a temporary drop in support, PiS is now back at the 37-39% level which had enabeld them to win the election.

the PiS mafi

You guys are hilarious -- the two-man tag team. One kicks PiS in the shins, the other one in the b*alls, then the first one kicks their bum, then the other one -- their teeth, etc,. etc, ad nauseam. Never heard either of you ever mention the PO mafia. But very soon it'll all be out in the open when parliamentary inquiries get launched into their scams and misdeeds- So make some popcorn, uncap a cold Heineken, sit back and enjoy the show. The Platfusy will be sweating up a storm as they're grilled on the rotisserie and it serves 'em right!

changing the country for the better

They are through their reform of law enforcement, the judiciary, civil service and the TK. More is on the way and only the disentitled trough defenders represented by Petru, Schetyna & Co., backers of the ancienne régime are weeping -- boo-hoo, sob-sob....

1 idiot in each village

The village idiots will bolster the ranks of the useful idiots -- the political cannon fodder of the shrewd, crafty, conniving KOD leadership.

draw attention

The whole point is to draw attention to who is marching beneath KOD's banners -- reitred PZPR, SB, TW, KO and ORMO types as well as representatives of foreign corporate interests fearing the loss of influence and privilege. The useful idiots may actually believe they're marching for what they're told is a "worhwhile cause", but this has absolutely nothing do with democracy. Interestingly, S&P "altruistically" (?!) downgraded Poland's credibiltiy the minute the bank tax came to the fore. Banks also have nothing to do with democracy -- they are mainly concerned about exploitation opportunities, cheap local staff, tax exemptions and maximum profit transfer abroad.

whole KOD movemen

The whole KOD movement are a still a niche group however you slice. More signifiantly their influecne is clearly waning. Back in December amid the initial onslaught of uproarious KOD hysteria when the marches were still a novelty, Poland's Public Opinion Research Center (CBOS) found that only 27 percent of Poles rated their country's general situation as "positive". At present, after weeks of hateful propaganda and noisy loser harangues the approval rating has climbed to 32%. By the same token, 46 percent of respondents believe the country's situation is "negative", four percentage points lower than in December's survey. Gradually the novelty of incessant badmouthing of the government is wearing off. Most Poles are thoroughly sick and fed up with KOD, TK, Petru and the political class in general.

traditional PZPR

CBOS or some other polster should survey KOD backers to see who forms the bulk of the movment. Ex-PZPR types would surely be in the forefornt, to a lesser extent their children and their grandchildren hardly at all. Nearly one-fifth of PO's current MPs are former PZPR activists or secret police informers -- more than in any other party. The percentage in the KOD movement would probably be much higher.

Rząd uzasadnił to posunięcie koniecznością zapewnienia organom ścigania i służbom specjalnym narzędzi do skutecznego zwalczania przestępczości i zapobiegania terroryzmowi.

I didn't mention KOD but Michnik and the Platfus opposition. They were spewing their poison-pen rhetoric even before the TK sbuienss erupted. The PO wanted to stuff the TK with their own goons.

The fact that those useful idiots are aowed to chant, rant, pound the tarmac and chill their sl*ts and b*llocks indisturbed belies the claim that democracy is threatened in Poland. The Platfus clique by contarst did actually use police against demonstrators and to raid editorial offices publshing what they regarded as politically offensve texts.

PZPR nomeklatura

But it's the nomenklatura riffraff form the bulk of the KOD ranters. Registered Polish presidential candidate Marian Kowalski led a patriotic counter-demonstration in Lublin today where he adressed the KOD ranters over a loud-hailer and asked: "Where are your young people? Nothing by retired secret police agents with cushy pensions who have come to squawk because their privileges are coming to an end." Freedom, democracy, rule of law? Hell no -- it's all about and only about privileges and filthy licre!

blatant anti-democratic way

No opposiiton has ever acted in such a blatant, unreasonable, anti-democratic way even before the democratically elected government adopted a single measure. One possible exception would be Bolsheviks who overthrew the Kerensky government before it had even settled in proprrly. Michnik was spewing his "Fascism is coming" and other toxic kosherisms even before election day, as you'll recall.

S&P to downgrade Poland.

Neither the EU of S&P have ever reacted in this way in response to any government's reforms. If was not for the rabble-rousuing, snitching and virulent media propaganda there would not have been such a reaction. Especially sicne Europe has much bigger fish to fry at thIs moment.

the ridiculous bait

Unfortuantely, Poland is not a plaything and her affairs are not a baiting game. Anti-government street protests that have caused the European Union to place Poland under special surveillance and led to the downgrade of the country's credibility by rating agency Standard & Poor's have continued. Despite sub-freezing temperatures demonstrators took to the streets of some 40 localities across the country alleging that the government's reforms of the judiciary, public media and the civil service were a threat to demcoracy. "We are not revolutionaries who destroy order and seek to forcibly impose our agenda," KOD leader Mateusz Kijowski claims despite incessant virulent attacks on the government, the resultant international repercussions and the disruption of normal traffic caused by weeks of noisy street marches. The protesters support poltical groupings defeated at the polls last October by the conservative Law and Justice party which favours Poland's little guy over foreign banks and interest groups.

ugly wrangle

The ugly wrangle was sole work of the frustrated and desperate bad losers who incited, instigated, whipped up hysteria and hyped the situation to no end with their KOD marches and the Michnikite yellow press. If they continue this way and produce more negative anti-Polish consequences who knows if someday Petru, Schetyna, Michnik et al won't end up on trial on treason charges?

block the Constitutional Tribunal

PO sneakily and illicitly appointed TK judges: 1) to ensure their continued monopoly (PO had hand-picked 14 of the 15 TK members with only 1 for the opposition); and/or 2) PO deseprately needed a pretext to stir up trouble and destabilise the winning camp.

THE EU INTRUSION AND S&P DOWNGRADE WERE SOLELY THE RESULT OF WEEKS AND WEEKS OF KOD'S STREET COMMOTION BACKED BY VIRULENT ANTI-GOVERNMENT MEDIA REPORTS AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOBBYING AND SCHETYNA/PETRU SNITCHERY. Neither instituion had reacted the same way to various contrversies in other countries.

News / PiS to impose blanket retail tax in Poland [291]

May Day

The Mayday thing is especially uneconomical together with Constituion Day one day apart. No matter when they fałł (the worst is on a Tuesday & Thursday when some take a 9-day weekend!) that whole week is quite mucked up. Maybe It'd be best to scrap the commie-inspired 1st of May holiday and keep only 3rd May. For the benefit of the Millers, Biedrońs and Harries they could say it has been consoldaited with 3rd May.

non-emergency should be closed

You forgot the bloke that dresses as a bear in Zakopane to take photos with and the cotton candy vendors in parks and zoos.
What number of percentage of the workforce do all your numerous exceptions amount to? Since you belong to the "economics is everything" camp, the economy

would surely rise if all Poles were forced to work on weekends. Maybe those directly concerned should be consulted rather than thrashing this out on an internet forum?

PiS from their disastrous

Disastrous, totalitarian, fascistic, authoritarian, Kaczyński-steered are some of the descriptives applied to PiS used by the KOD camp and your ilk, but they must be doing something right and Petru doing soemthing wrong, as the latest survey shows: PiS 38 (so they haven't lost any support compared to the 25 Oct. election), PO 16, Petru 15 (too much of him on TV) and Kukiz 11.

We all know you'll say polls are not especially reliable. But If PO had got 38% you'd change your tune and say something like: Platforma has rebounded, people have finally seen through PiS' cheap propaganda, etc., etc. ad nauseam.
