News / Polish cleaner blows the lid on 'dirty' Germans [124]

What makes you think it didn't?

Actually I don't care...but I still think if all would have been so horrible she wouldn't had made it for 12 long years...not planning to work here even further...after earning so much money with her book.

Something just doesn't add up here....I believe she plays all for a fool and makes a good bucket with it! Not so stupid Pole! :)

Do you think she always dresses like that?

At least she doesn't seem to be the helpless, beautiful damsel in distress Pennboy wants her to be!;)

Given the book's sudden success, I doubt she'll need to.

I googled her and read about her book in Bild...that was her explanation for using a pseudonym!
*shrugs*

PS: She has her own column: "Cleaning with Justyna" :)

droemer-knaur.de/magazin/Putzen+mit+Justyna.7768653.html

I really come to believe she is a comedian...using a vita of being a "polnische Putzfrau" to earn her living but being rather an author. Who knows if she is really polish! I tell ya she had us played for fools!

Probably rather more trustworthy than the wonam who witheld half her wages.

What makes you sure that happened that way?

PS: That's her:

Justyna Polanska

Do you know why she writes under a pseudonym? She want's to keep her job...
Interesting, isn't it? Can't be THAT bad...;)

Do you deny they exist?

ROFL
I love stereotypes, of course they exist. Every people has stereotypes about other people.

I can't stand your whining all the time about others. In case you missed it, the sun does NOT shine out of polish arses.

What compelled me to take part in THIS particular discussion was that I couldn't follow the reasoning about the headline and the article, hence my question to explain it to me.

Somehow to invoke german "dirtyness" using the adventures of some polish house cleaner....
After all...the job of a hous cleaner is to clean the house of dirt, isn't it?

What makes you think that?

*points to thread header and first comment by thread opener*

In her case, this is true, according to the book.

She wants to sell a book, "sweetie". Washing dirty laundry very probably
against her ex-employers wishes...how much of it is really true - we will probably never know.
But chances are that she colored her stories quite abit..to sell some more.
It's like with sex, the dirtier the higher the pay.

She seems some kind of a w*hore. First doing everything for money, even if she hates it and
afterwards spelling the secrets for some more money! Even using a pseudonym instead of her name.
How trustworthy do you think she is?

What makes you think that I "brought" the nationalist stereotypes to an article which addresses such things?

Well, it was you who invoked "mean german stereotypes about poor Poles" first...*points again to first thread page*

And yes it is rather telling - given the book's success it seems a lot of Germans think so too!

Well, I tried for 3 pages now to bring you to spill it out WHAT actually is telling what...without success.

You really seemed to support the idea that employing house cleaners is a good reason to call someone "dirty". But that is something that is just not logical.

Then you seemed to coddle the notion that servants are somehow exploited and that they somehow have some kind of moral superiority over their employers.

Both notions are plain crap!

Then you brought the nationalist stereotypes and did pit again the "poor victimized Poles" against the "typically arrogant Germans"....that's all what you have left to play with..."sweetie".

I'm having fun, and you?

Actually, Sweetie, you did.

Polish cleaner blows the lid on 'dirty' Germans

I thought this was quite telling.

Yeah...it was definitely me!

We Serbs are useful only for organ harvesting

Who knows...we should ask "Justyna" if she found some serb organs under some german bed somewhere..
Is it to late now???

Those are not Poles you nimrod!!

I...WHAT??? Whassa "nimrod" :)
(I hope something coool!)

there's only a few hundred thousand real Poles in all of Germany.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_minority_in_Germany

Polish minority in Germany, is the second largest Polish minority (Polonia) in the world and the biggest in Europe.

Well like i said before it's hard to find people in Poland who like Germans, unless it benefits them in some way.

Yeah...that's why "Justyna" came to Germany in the first place too...their intense dislike of Germans!

You Poles really manage to look coward and dishonorable if that is true! On one side cozying up to everything German...living and working here by the millions....taking gratefully what we give you and behind our backs griping and complaining.

Come to think of that's what this "Justyna" did...not a good way to make you somewhat more sympathetic, rather reinforcing all possible stereotypes.

You became quite unpopular in Great Britain too I've heard? After you immigrated there in masses in search for cheap, quick labor. Complaining about the "discriminating" articles in english newspapers? Could it be that you are just generally disliked with people who got to know you? That you better stop complaining about other peoples bad impression about you???

Look better in the mirror next time when you want to complain again...

OK, then don't hire these people in the first place if you don't like em' they'll go somewhere else or will stay home.

You mean that:

She describes how some Germans who answer her newspaper advertisements offering her cleaning services hear her foreign accent and instantly demand: "Where do you come from?" Her reply: "From Poland" not infrequently elicits the answer: "No thanks" or sh'it Polack".

It seems alot of possible employers learned that lesson already...

But that too is being held against them! Hmmm....

Don't get me wrong, BB - we hate ordinary Germans too, but volksdeutche are
slightly more annoying. ;)

Manno...you got me worried here for a minute! *phew*

blahblahblah

Try harder next time!

Oh...how original and creative! Did you get that from some book???

You are clearly talking about the "Angedeutschte" if anything. The Volksdeutschen are the Germans who live abroad (correct me if I'm wrong BB :-) )

Probably some poor slavic soul brutally germanized by these mean Germans (with dirty houses)....*looks around for Crowie*

Erm...that is from yet another book, isn't it???

If she was there illegally what could she do?

Go back?

I've heard that it's mostly volksdeutsche who treat Polish workers with contempt (at least
that's what one of my friend's father, who works in Germany, claims.) Ordinary Germans
are not that bad - if they're happy with your work, you don't have to worry.

Ummm...Volksdeutsche against ordinary Germans?

Is that some special polish thingy??? ;)

No my dear!

You thought you could gain some brownie points with the stereotype clique quickly. Very probably harboring some grudges about the Germans yourself.
You read the headline, thought "bingo" and decided rashly to open a thread.

You shot yourself in the foot and try now to wriggle out of, that it is for all to see.

Playing on stereotypes, generalizations and all around hate is a fiery business and you better have your facts straight (or in this case understand the article BEFORE opening a thread).

Try harder next time! ;)

Nationalist b*tchfighting CAN be a great source of amusement and I too have fun indulging it sometimes with special posters but you are clearly not up to it!

plus she obviously needed the money,

Well...as I see it she thinks she is something better with her A-level and had high hopes coming to Germany.
Couldn't find a job, decided to become a cleaner and hated it. In 12 years she was unable to do anything about her real dream - probably the whole time feeling humiliated being "forced" to do work "beneath her".

That all is her problem, not Germany's...she had better go back soon after it became clear she won't get a job as make up-artist!

I assume you realise that was the headline of the original article!

"It's quite telling"

But you see...calling someone dirty because he employes house cleaner is somewhat stupid! ;)

They are degraded and put down BB. Discrimination.

Boohooo
PF is full of discrimination too...do you see me complaining? She could have left every time..but she didn't. Maybe she is just a **********?

With left smiling and saying thank you - with right cursing and ratting?

For example:

Read the article.

I read the article! That's what got me wondering about your statements...did we read different articles?

I tell you what I see as the main statement of this article (and of this book).

She has the Polish equivalent of A-levels and came to Germany to learn the language. She hoped to train as a make-up artist. "That never happened, so like many Polish women I ended up as a cleaner," she said.

She never accepted her fate...instead to go back to Poland and try something else she stayed felt humiliated for 12 long years. Coming to hate her life...in Germany...the Germans.

Now she has written a book. If you really think that would become a fair and objective report then I can't help you!

PS: I have a strong feeling you can wait for the ukrainian version of such a book blaming their polish employers.
There is a lot of envy and jealousy around...especially for people who think being a cleaner is something to be ashamed about!

That the exploited is so often more dignified than those who exploit them, and that the German stereotype of Poles is so often painfully wrong.

Erm...that is blahblah wishy washy and you know that.

In what way is the polish house cleaner "exploited"???

"The Polish women make so much money in Germany that they can pay a Ukrainian to clean their houses in Poland," Melnyk said.

Are the Germans forcing them to do this at gun point??? Are their forced labor camps whe don't know about?

And how is washing your dirty laundry about your employer in a book more dignified?

And about what german stereotype we are talking about and how was that proven wrong???

Read the article - and what makes you think I'm trying to make any point other than to share an interesting article?

I read the article and then I read your "it's quite telling"...
So please help me out, WHAT is it telling (to you) ? Because I thought it's the memoirs of a cleaning lady who hated her job. Not more, not less.

Hi Bratwurst, I missed you ;)

we're talking about stereotypes.

So...you think it's telling that the stereotype about the "clean" Germans isn't true because they hire someone to do the cleaning?

Is it that what you mean???

What a smart way to change careers, isn't it! ;)

I would take her book with a heavy helping of salt if I were you. But of course alot of it is based in the reality too, but not how you would have it!

I'm sure the well off polish households have their helpers too...most probably poorer Ukrainians, who probably too will want to take something extra besides their earn.Would you call these Poles "dirty" ???

1.) In this case it rather sounds like the story of ONE servant with a grudge ;)
Maybe she always dreamt of being something else and hated ther job, hating being a servant. I think she is not the only one but she really should look for another job.

And besides stealing between house personal is nothing uncommon. It must be seducing for a poor servant working unobserved in a well off environment. Cameras in the houses are quite common for awhile now.

Nothing personal though.

2.) Yeah...employing people to clean their houses makes definitely for "dirty" Germans! This logic is absolutely convincing!

:):):)

Nice pictures from a glossy magazine. Most people can only dream of such places and have to work with much less - nevertheless they manage.

because as he said, Poles like to steal cars!

Well...here too that prejudice is sadly founded on facts and statistics. The same with stealing house personal, you might not like it and begrudge the Germans for that but that is illogical!

History / Why is there NOTHING (besides Gdansk and Szczecin) in former Prussia? [80]

Are Germans making any claims? That's new to me. Any links to support that?

Alone talking about the german past in these lands and towns is seen as attack by some of your folks.

Sensitive already when Germans call the towns by their german names...calling the people living there for centuries as occupiers or Nazis....as they were expelled "going home to the fatherland", etc.

It's all here to see!

There aren't any claims from Germany...beside not to deny our common past!

As I said earlier, you can have a great time with Poles as long as you avoid talking about the history.

Yeah...the given german lands are still a raw point with many of them. They know only one defense - attacking any claim Germans could made, even with denying facts, falsifying history or lying!

It isn't the Germans who need to go over "it" !

History / Why is there NOTHING (besides Gdansk and Szczecin) in former Prussia? [80]

What are you saying exactly by this language story? That it's not a historically Polish city?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Gda%C5%84sk

In the 1st century AD, a new culture appeared in the area, called Willenberg-Kultur or now Wielbark culture. This culture is widely identified as the Gothiscandza (or Coast of the Goths) that was mentioned by Jordanes in the 6th century.

The Free City of Danzig issued its own stamps and currency (the Gulden). Many examples of stamps and coins, bearing the legend Freie Stadt Danzig, survive in collections. There was a strong desire to rescind the Allied Powers' decision on the status of the city's 400,000 citizens which were predominantly German.

At the last census the Poles made exactly 2 percent of the town...98 percent Germans!

From Germanic to Germans during 2000 years! Danzig is polish now but would you please refrain from falsifying history as if Germans had been only a short interlude in an otherwise pure polish town? Thank you very much!

Well...I doubt the USians deny the mexican past of Texas and California...
I wonder who needs to get over "it"! Is it still to raw for you? To insecure with your current borders that you have to deny the rich and long german past in your new territories?

Quoting doen't make shallowness better. Let's hear some of your personal impresions?
Ever been to Poland? Ever?

Oh please, who asked the cevabcici for it's opinion? Shouldn't you go play elsewhere?

What do you have to do with german matters? I tell you: Nothing!
