Life / Who's Leaving Poland? [138]

Although, you don't like Poland and that is the fact!

Don't like certain aspects. It's not black and white.

Life / Who's Leaving Poland? [138]

While I admire your enthusiasm - after a certain point in life it's just enough with packing and starting over in a new place. I did that three times already and have no more appetite for changes. Even when I had a chance to move to US a few years back I decided against it, even though it would give me more job opportunities. Enough is enough.

I grew up this way, it's more or less an extension of my childhood. Every two or three years, it's time to move on. Next destination is still looking like Liberia.

Thar be a big UN mission to pillage and plunder!

Life / Who's Leaving Poland? [138]

Yes,I remember 8 years ago when Krakow was relatively unknown, most tourists were american. The same in Lvov etc, they seem to be pioneers.

Was thinking more about places like Brazzaville, Tashkent, Samarqand, Kigali... And then outside of the cities, seems every town with more than 20000 people had their own American.

There's one in every town in Mongolia. All over China... I stayed with an American guy in Herat, nothing to do with the military. Just kind of hanging out over there...

where I come from, nearly everyone.

On the other hand, I have met Americans in just about every f*cked up place that I've ever been. We seem to get well off the beaten path and then decide to live there for a while.

Life / Who's Leaving Poland? [138]

Haha, I'm taking life as it comes. I don't see the point in wasting my time thinking constantly about how I'm going to leave in the future - what's the point?

The world is big, lots of exploring left to do. No reason to pick a place to roost already...

I hope you will have more good than bad memories of our country.

I think most people that have been here for more than a week have many more good memories than bad...

Life / What are the things which cause culture shock in Poland? [164]

There are some decent restaurants in Wroclaw. Spice India is good, Da Lat, Sakana, La Donna Cannone did awesome Italian, unfortunately it's closed down.

Dunno, most people would rather save a buck and go stuff themselves with food by weight that buy a decent meal. No problem buying the latest mobile or expensive cosmetics, but paying money for decent food? It's a hard sell here. *cough* materialism *cough* *cough*.

And there is NO decent Mexican food here :(

Life / Who's Leaving Poland? [138]

Leaving this winter once the I'm comfortable leaving the business to run itself.

That's all. Poland is a good destination if you have family ties, have an interesting business idea that hasn't yet been exploited, or you have a hard on for church and nationalism.

For me, our neighbors to the south have a much more agreeable view on personal freedoms, economic direction, religion, and business practices.

But hey, I guess that's just me.

Real Estate / Buying a flat in Krakow; prices are still falling? [200]

3 ) I have quite a few friends in Blightey or U.S. who became relatively rich through the simple act of buying or inheriting a house/flat and not selling it for 20 years. These friends of mine - some of them aren't really Einsteins to begin with.

Right, doesn't that kind of prove that real estate is in an asset bubble? Doesn't take much of an Einstein to see that wages didn't exactly increase in line with general inflation...

Food / WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE? [142]

with all that said, how much ice can one make in their freezer?

How would you convince people here to pay for frozen water? I mean, I would, it's convenient for all the reasons that you mentioned...but who else would pay for water that they can freeze at home in tiny batches? How much is a cold drink worth anyway? Too much hassle, bring on the warm stuff!

Life / As EuroPride visits Warsaw - is it the start of overdue social change in Poland? (homosexuality promotion) [144]

Good for them but so what?

So, they're apparently not that bad to have around...

AIDS?

Right, and yet they still live longer than straight people in the US, bizarre.

So that's why Western countries have massive immigration?

No, Western countries have massive immigrations because of worthless governments and their ponzi welfare schemes.

I have a problem with recognizing gay marriages. I can only see government retirement funds depleted very shortly - well, they are in trouble already - without them contributing anything. Those spousal retirement programs were introduced as a way to support wife which never worked outside the house while raising children.

Let them marry. Why not. Just give them a marriage certificate and the same privileges. Either the system is broken, or it isn't. If the overall system is broken, it should be fixed (or better yet, axed).

really guys, the environmental factor here really needs a more thorough overview.

So estrogen imitators cause men to be attracted to men and women to be attracted to women?

Homosexuality isn't exactly a new phenomenon...

Food / WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE? [142]

I know this guy from Poland and he refuses to use his dryer because he says its a "no good" American invention.

Wonder if he feels the same way about American pharma...

We dont pay inflated taxes for everything, like North of the Border.

Sure we do. Pile up federal, state, sales, "special surcharges", estate, capital gains... Taxes in the US aren't low.

News / Why are Czechs more effective than Poles and Poland? [116]

Konnopke is famous for that one even outside of Berlin

You just have to deal with the douches that live in the neighborhood, much like Vinohrady.

"German" Currywurst??? Where did you get the Curry from??

Paprika grows in Germany :) ....and the Czech Republic..

Why's that? Seems like there are some decent arguments that AC can be very healthy...

Life / As EuroPride visits Warsaw - is it the start of overdue social change in Poland? (homosexuality promotion) [144]

I thought you were worried about "the children", so I just wanted to let you know that most children are molested by the opposite sex, and family members at that. Just may want to focus on that to keep your kids safe.

I wonder what the environmental causes were 2500 years ago? Lack of testosterone?

Homosexuality seems to be a good fix for the global overpopulation problem as well.

If they want to adopt unwanted children, even better.

They usually earn more, and pay more in taxes, are less likely to have been convicted of a crime in their lifetime, and live surprisingly healthy lives.

I'm seriously having a hard time seeing the downsides here. Let 'em loose. The more the better it would seem.

maybe we just have more stats concerning heterosexual rape.

homosexual rape is another matter, and it's victims often don't speak out until many years later, if they survive the trauma. Many commit suicide.

Wrong, rape is traumatic for a child, regardless of if your daughter is being raped by your brother, or if he's raping your son.

I'd suggest reading up on what sexual trauma does to a child, hetero or homo rape...

Skewing the truth doesn't help protect kids...

speaking of gay pride, is anyone who isn't gay proud of the fact that the gay agenda includes teaching the homosexual lifestyle to elementary school children, in graphic detail? Really, considering the fact that a homosexual couple cannot have children, it is more than just a little bit interesting that they are so focused on other people's children.

Where can one find this gay agenda that you're talking about? Do they create planks in their meetings?

UK, Ireland / Not all is bad for Poles in Scotland! [167]

So remind us all who has the power to open up the markets to cheaper imports?.

Remind us who bought those imports

Yeh iam sure all the coal miners just gave up their jobs after the near civil war they fought just so they could have cheaper coal from poland.

I'm sure they thought that the price of coal was just right, but clothing and food was too expensive! Kind of the same thinking of the dairy farmer... milk is priced correctly, but energy is wayyyy too expensive....

Its true that some are just idle, every country has people like this but not everyone has that attitude. A good start would be raising the minimum wage which is one of the lowest in western europe, if french companies have to pay 9 euros an hour then why do ours only have to way £5.85

Not a problem, just lay off the corresponding percentage of the workforce, or raise the prices for consumers.
