Food / Is carp indigenous to Israel? [39]

I would suggest asian carp fishing tournaments, some recipes (smoked mullet, another bottom feeder is a popular in FL) and maybe cat food manufacturers' interest?

Check out the jumping silver carp! How hard can that be to catch?

History / Polish hatred towards Jews... [1290]

"...showed that Poland, with its strong nationalist traditions and a civil society, especially the Church, that had never been fully repressed, was the weakest element in the Eastern Bloc."

Sweet!

Food / Is carp indigenous to Israel? [39]

BTW, Asian carp DNA was found in water sample of Chicago river (no sighting of the fish tho, they say) and now 'authorities' in charge of these matters are panicking and proposing closing off some important waterway??

News / Poland rejects H1N1 vaccine [28]

Poland stands alone in refusing H1N1 vaccine

The decision seemed fraught with risk: a government refusing to import swine flu vaccines amid worldwide warnings of a spreading epidemic.

But Poland did just that, becoming the only country worldwide known to reject the vaccines over safety fears and distrust in the drug companies producing them-concerns international health experts reject as unfounded.

Now that the current outbreak appears to have peaked in much of Europe, many Poles feel their government has been vindicated: Countries with large stockpiles often saw low public interest in the vaccines and face financial loss from unused doses now set to expire.

News / Poland rejects H1N1 vaccine [28]

I just heard it on the news. What exactly does it mean?
Apparently, Poland is the first and only country to reject it.

Food / Burgers, why not in Poland? [54]

This is what your burger should look like.

Good God!

Also, if you're afraid to eat burgers because you don't know what's in it, you must stay away from sausage as well.

News / Should Poland Remove Visa Restrictions? [285]

That was an excellent exchange between convex and Socrates about Polish workers.
They are both right, and their debate is a perfect example that one should not generalize. It's seldom just black or white.

USA, Canada / What do Polish people think of the USA [287]

I found this thread, and I thought what a nice, positive subject to start, almost everyone had something nice to say about USA, then I looked who started it.

you write like an add. It's patronizing and slightly insulting. You don't have to capitalize the IMPORTANT words.

Life / Beggers namely Kurwa boys in Poland [70]

on vacation in Barbados, there was this group of locals hiding in the bushes by the inn's parking lot. One guy in particular would jump out when I was coming home at night, trying to sell me weed. After couple days of this, I offered him some money if he promised that him and his buddies will stop scaring the beejezus out of me for the rest of my stay there. Everybody said I should complain, call cops, giving money would only make it worse... But it worked! I think it cost me $10. The guy sent an incredible artist so see me too, that was nice. So sometimes paying a little protection works, but the terms have to be worked out beforehand (and assuming of course that we're not dealing with a complete retard, which unfortunately happens a lot too).

News / German legal discrimination against Polish speakers [209]

1jola:
One thing's for sure, once you start with personal attacks, it's clear that you realize your argument, on it's own merits, is week. So there are two reasons why I don't need to parse your replies sentence for sentence, like you're enjoy doing.

It's a shame that you lived among the rednecks here and considered Walmart a cultural event. I'm surrounded by some of the best educated and smartest people in the world.

I freaked out about the Brevard 'cause I forgot that I put where I live in my profile and thought you were a hacker. My bad. Still, attacking the place I live, or assuming knowledge of my experiences means that you don't want to or don't know how to debate on a subject.

News / German legal discrimination against Polish speakers [209]

I happened to be very familiar with the county you live in .... see you chose a real education ....

Sorry you have not had much of a good time here, that's for you to analyze. I have not found a better place to live and work yet, and I have been looking very hard. But, enough of that, your interest in my personal life is a bit creepy. Stalk much?

What I suggested is that there usually is a reason for visits being supervised, and although that might not include listening to every word, it may very well be in children's best interest to monitor the gist of the crap the parent needing supervision might be feeding them. It's best to take it on case by case bases, and err on the side of caution.

So maybe, just maybe, this guy might not be a best choice for poster boy for discrimination against foreigners.
As for the caliber of people working in social services, I have not had the pleasure, so I'll defer that wisdom to you.

News / German legal discrimination against Polish speakers [209]

the article is about supervised visits between parent and child, in Germany. Obviously, if court granted him supervised visits only, it means they need to monitor what's going on, i.e. what is he telling them as well. Makes sense they want him to speak the language the supervisor can understand. Don't make more out of it than it is.

and instead of fighting in the media about what language to speak and traumatizing his children, he should be proving to courts that he is not a low life, high risk a$$hole and that he should be granted UNsupervised visits.

USA, Canada / Differences in How Polish People Raise a Child and How Americans Raise a Child [149]

Polish mothers are bonkers about drafts. I live in Florida and they would rather sweat than have fan blow cool air on them. Especially at night - they think they'll catch pneumonia. Same thing about sitting on stone, or something cold. Or drinking something cold!

I won't even get into ice cubes...
BTW, bottles and pacifiers till 4-5yo are bad for the teeth.

I noticed a lot of latin mothers will carry their kid around until the kid himself gets tired of it. I think many mothers separate themselves from their kids mostly because of going back to work or other personal or social obligations.

Love / All Polish women can't be nutters can they? [257]

nomaderol, seriously, the only one you make sense to is yourself. I try not to read your posts after I made a mistake of getting involved in a conversation with you about the etiquette of gift-giving. At least that's what I thought it was, until you turned it into some kind of socialist manifesto, or.. who the hell knows what it was. I suspect most of us here, after falling into the same trap once, quickly realize what's going on and treat you like a harmless lunatic. I seriously hope you are young.

Few rules to help you out: don't lie, don't pretend to be somebody you're not, don't assume that anyone believes what you write and most of all, read your posts couple of times before you send them.
