Life / Do Polish people help one another? [40]

Do Polish people help one another

not always. they will often watch you struggle and only help when asked.

females are more likely to get help than males. (example: a car that has broken down)

not much different to any other country, i suppose.

Genealogy / Looking for family ~ Dzyngl (Jingle) [4]

seems to be that dzyngl is a regional version of dzięgiel,

many thanx P3. this version of the name brings up many results in Krakow and elsewhere.

psyche13,

Please, give the above serious consideration. it's time to double check old documents, ship's records, naturalization papers etc.

Genealogy / Searching for KAWA, KOSIBA, SOBARNIA family in Łekawica, Tarnow [9]

Can you give some advice in narrowing it to a manageable number of emails?

the first thing to do is find out if any of these are looking for you

or if other people are tied into the family.

Do a name search at ancestry.com or genealogy.com

posting the names on different sites might allow them to find you.

find a message board at a Tarnow website and leave a message there. some city websites have genealogy links and forums.

try to find a phone directory for the area. online directories are of no use.

edit: are your initials N.S. it's just that i've seen some similar posts.

Genealogy / Looking for family ~ Dzyngl (Jingle) [4]

My family name was changed from Dzyngl to Jingle when my grandfather came from Krakow,

What was his first name ?

What was great-grandmother's name ?

the name Dzyngl doesn't return anything. Polonius3 might be able to help here.

USA, Canada / My wife wants to return to Poland...but I want to stay in the US [155]

She may have PND syndrome

i doubt this... given the age of the child.

But there is the fact that, in polite words, a two year old can be a bundle of trouble.

is she coping ok with the child ? i mean does she get time to relax ?

spend some weekends out of town together.

find someone else to look after your sick parent... if only for a few days. this will give you more time to see to your wife's needs.

Life / Kindergarden / daycare in Wroclaw [4]

We are a family with two children, 4 and 6 years old.

you might need to find two schools. The six year old will go to the zero class... the first class in normal education.

The four year old can go to kindergarden

Genealogy / What certificate is this?; birth certificate from the greek catholic church [63]

We'll have to wait and see when (and if) the Mormons come up with the relevant microfilms in the future.

The Mormons would be able to help people the world over, if the Polish authorities hadn't put a stop to them recording various records.

There is a polite message concerning this at the Family Search website.
I certainly wish them better luck when it comes to records held in Russian archives.

Genealogy / Missing/unknown letter in my great-grandmother's last name. Any ideas? [34]

wisdom in this house says either Rypyla or Rypyka

i say it's Swedish: Sofia

the best i can get with a name search takes me to asia, which i doubt, or Sweden.

there appears to be something very wrong with the spelling of the surname.

either way Sophia is spelt in English and shouldn't be, if it's Polish.

if this is hand written... please, scan and post some of the text

it might be possible to compare the writing with other parts of the text.

Life / Britains got talent vs mam talent [15]

Mind you I wonder why that prat Kuba Wojewodski thinks it's so cool to wear a t-shirt with F*ck written on it.

He wears the fcuk shirt on other programmes too. Trying to look cool... makes him look a complete a$$hole.

Both BGT and MT have good and bad acts... the show wouldn't work otherwise.
