pure child abuse

I just recalled the sole year I spent in a public school* (grade 5 - no room at the parochial school that year), our shop (manual training) teacher had what he called his "board of education" (paddle) and used it as needed. And no hysterical PC creeps raised a rumpus calling him a saddist or child abuser (as today's mamby-pambies might do). Nobody was scarred for life and everyone just moved forward in that pre-PC-creep era.

*Attention tag team and other Brits: this is a municipal (not state) school open to all free of charge. Parochial schools charged tuition fees and yet most Polish, Italian, Irish, South German/Austrian and other immigrants preferred to pay to give their kids a good Catholic education.

I got hit by them

Maybe Anglo-Celtic nuns are diffenret. In the States getting one knuckles rapped with a ruler was a bit painful but was usually well deserved and no-one I know harboured any resentment over it. And when parents found out, tehya didn't call the cops but addiitonally punished the kid at homeabotu it. My late dad occasionally gave me a few whakcs "with a belt "where the sun doesn't shine" when I deserved it. So what! I think we have raised a coupla generations of sissified, mamby-pamby spoilt brats. A routine, wqell-intentioned spanking has become "CHILD ABUSE". Boo-hoo, sob-sob, let's squeal to the mods, police, child services...

Spare the rod and spoil the child - is well-known adage. Sure, there are violent, drunken dads who don't spank but brutally beat up wives and kids, and that IS a police matter.

run by nuns

I had nuns for 7 years of primary school and to this day the sight of a nun gives me a warm and comforting feeling. When I meet one on teh street I always greet her with the traditonal Polish "Szczęść Boże!" I admite the Good Ladies of the Cloth who have dedicated their lives to Christ.

Just goes to show how childhood experiecnes can affect one in later life.

properties

The original owner of our home was Andrzej Nowaliński a commie who was a correspodnent for Polish Radio way back. He sold it to another family and my wife bought it from them. I decided to look Nowaliński up (he ended tragically in London - suicide or something), and what did I get: the Wildstein List. Just in case you or other PF-ers may be interested, here it is:

divvied out by The Party

On the next street there was a big villa of a PZPR bigshot named Frelek (probably dead by now), but the other houses were all private or once belonging to the Express Wieczorny ( long-defunct daily) co-op and later sold to private buyers. Urban used to live on a neighbouring street for a time, but dunno what the ownership situation was like -- probably just renting but the regime surely picked up the tab. Everyone knows his role as Jaruzel's lackey was a highly profitable arrangement.

News / Cameron's EU reform good for Poland [95]

'Trillion Zloty' investment

On balance however Poland is a loser. EUu membership merely set Poland up as easy prey for Western big business who have extracted from Poland more profits than what the country got from the EU.

too weak

I have already said that Poladn lacked the clout to initiate an opt-out but was bale to isnist on one iocne the UK set a precedent. I agree. Brexit would be a disaster for Poland, but a reformed, non-invasive EU seems a desirable goal.

News / Cameron's EU reform good for Poland [95]

While Brexit would be bad for Poland and could lead to the eventual collapse of the EU, Cameron's reasonable and healthy approach to the EU coincides with Poland's view of the community: a confederation of sovereign states voluntarily cooperating for the benefit of one and all. Were it not for Britian, the Polish govt would not have had the clout to insist on a family-affairs opt-out. But since Britain did re certain issues and so did Ireland (opposition to paritcipation in a EU military force), a precedent was set. The Polish family-affairs opt-out has thankfully hampered attempts by EU leftist loonies adn asssorted lib-creeps to impose their baby-butchery and other perversions on Poland. From the remarks by Brits shown on Polish TV, many UK-ers resent losing control of their laws, borders and their country in general.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

7th February

Watch the złoty tumble once again. Are those idiots really hell-bent on screwing up the Polish currency and smearing Poland in the international arena? Haven't they caused enough harm with their snitchery and trying to involve outside forces in the country's domestic affairs?

adical shock therapy

I don't pretend tobe an economsit, but the Wikipedia entry on the
the programme states:

The Balcerowicz plan in the 90s led to a collapse in domestic demand, flooding the domestic market with imported production, the collapse of zadłużanych financial policy of state enterprises plunged into debt by financial policies and sale of the best of them mainly to Western capital. All that greatly impoverished the majority of Poles and led to the rapid growth of unemployment . But decisive effect of the plan was to privatise of state assets according to the Latin American formula by partitioning enclaves of economic modernity and profitability a dn selling them off foreign corporations for 4.5-5 % of their replacement value.

Temporary hardsjips caused by shock therapy could be justified if it had led to a viable, dynamic national economy. But 26 years on, Poland has not moved beyond the neo-colonial stage of being a cheap manpower source for foreign assembly and exploitative banking and retail activity. And there are domestic and foreign forces that aim to keep it that way.

KOD

They went into the streets shouting "Democracy and freedom" over and over as if Goebbel's 100-time lie tactic could make it true. But behind the façade it soon became clear that it wasn't democracy they were defending. It was all about the unholy dynamics between ex-communist and liberal politicians, foreign interest groups and mainstream media. They all benefit by the billions extracted from that partnership, and it's in all of their interests to protect one another. It's a filthy relationship that makes everyone filthy rich, everyone except the Polish nation as a whole. Average Poles get ripped off, they're the suckers, losers and victims who lost out on the transformation. But for once the corrupt crony clique now feel threatened and frightened, and that accounts for the vicious scorn they keep endlessly pouring on the PiS government. That truly pro-Polish government could upset their cosy apple cart and, heaven forbid!, spread some of the benefits to the the majority of Poles who have so far been disadvantaged and underprivileged. Who will win: the clique or the Polish nation? That still remains to be seen!

actually forcing children into sex acts

Is a 5, 10 or even 14 year old capable of consenting? If the paedo strips, regardless if he's a priest, postman or teacher of English, fondles the child or asks "wanna play a little game?", how many kids who look up to an older person will say "no"?

Sierp i młotek.

Why on earth has someone deleted or censored the girl's and PRL versions which were not in the previous posting of Bełza's poem?

n their workplace

Paedos don't necessarily limit their misdeeds to the workplace. When a priest buggered a boy beyond parish grounds and premises dioceses were held responsible nonetheless.

Re your depravity project, under Polish law the age of sexual consent is ridiculously low -- 15. If a 15-year-old is mature enough to take the conscious to engage in the adult act of copulation, then he should also be allowed to vote and sign legally binding contracts.

Nevertheless such is the law. But I wonder if agitating and spreading pro-preversion propaganda amongst minors (under 18) without parental consent is explicitly dealt with in the Polish consent law. If not, maybe it should be penalised,

Merged: Young Pole's catechism

Władysław Bełza's poem "Katechizm małego Polaka" has been proudly recited by generations of Polish youngsters. Since this is something many expats may have missed, it's worth reproducing here.

Church finds it so difficult to deal with

Our bad American precedent has spread fear round the globe. Somehow the American Church let itself get roped into collective accountabiltiy for its employees' misdeeds. If a GM exec or assembly-line worker got caught buggering a little boy, no-one would have even contemplated suing the entire corporation. But RC dioceses in the States were taken to court and many went bankrupt as a result. The Polish Church has wisely pre-empted such an eventuality by declaring only the offender is accountable for his transgressions, not his employer.

IMHO any convicted paedo, priest or whatever profession, should be subjected to obligatory chemical castration and/or a minimum 25-year gaol term. Full stop.

70 years after independenc

I don't quite follow what independence has to do with this. Are you saying British-occupied Ireland didn't have such problems? Maybe it's pruely statistical and not Ireland-specifc. At one time Eire had more priests per capita than most other countries. I think I saw somewhere that 10% of priests display homosexual tendencies, so 10% of a small number could be negligible but of a large number might become more visible and problematic. Just wondering? Re the treatment of unwed mothers in nun-run workhouses, I don't really know how that problem was handled back when in Poland. Maybe some other PF-er does.

Ireland

Hope this isn't off-topic. but I don't want to start a new thread for two simple questions: is the punt still used in Eire or is it now €?

Secondly, to what do you attribute the intenstiy of the priest-paedophile and abuse of girls by nuns scandals? Those things happen everywhere but nothing that widespread has ever occurred in Poland?

It's good you're proud of your country. The globalists are only proud of their bank accounts.

different areas of Poland

I presume it's the same in Poland that there is less official monotopriong in small towns and rural areas, but I don't think it's as bad as what you describe anywhere. Even in Warsaw one sees kids on bicycles and skateboards on the streets or kicking a ball round a school pitch and nobody interferes. What was troubling is tha under the former "liberal" government in a number of cases parents had their kids placed in orphanages or foster care because of the their poverty. The parents were not drunks, addicts or violent types, only poor. That did not go over well in Poland where people don't take kindly to outside interference in family affairs. Public opinion sided with the parents who went on TV to plead their case and said they're doing the best they can. The kids also did not want to be separated. Police-state-style political "correctness" gone astray?

vary by area

I presume in semi-rural or small-town areas kids still explore and romp through the woods and things. A house-bound childhood seems like hell on earth.

don't even talk about it

You're quite right, in fact overall family communication and interaction is all but dead in many places. TV was once a family affair, everybody gathered to watch Dr Kildare, the Untouchables or whatever. Now many a family member has their own TV set and targeted programming often drives a wedge between the generations. Many families no longer sit down to daily family dinner, once a greta togetherness-promoter. Also laughable is kids sitting in a school canteen at the same table texting one another or coming home from school, scarfing down junk snacks and staying glued to computer games instead of playing outdoors and getting fresh air and exercise. Some troglodyte will reply "but I enjoy computer games" and there's no discussing with such a one. OK, someone likes computer games and someone else is making loads of money on them, but everything has its downsides. Does computer-game addiciton not affect the young psyche? Is child obesity a goal to aim for? A nice Polish saying goes: Najpierw pomyśl, to nic nie kosztuje!

"all-pervasive"

That means it pervades nearly every field of endeavour and there's no getting away from it. The lowest common denominator is apparent in lifestyles, on the air, on TV, on the net and, on billboards at the cinema and supermarket. Even schools often follow a commerpop-based "fun & games" format and churches use "clown liturgies" to convey their message. Maybe the only respite is in the middle of a forest and even there you'll probably soon see some plugged-in jogger getting his brain rattled by rap crap.

Poles screwing Poland

Poles screwing Poland or foreign-interest groups screwing Poland. Which is worse? That's a good question.
Re the Poles, that is a vestige of Poland's troubled past -- partitions and occupations, the latest being the 45-year PRL episode. Everyone is out for themselves and tries to outfox the system. The 26 years of post-PZPR/KOR-ite misrule have not instilled a sense of "our state, our government" because people could see that apart from the elites, millions have not benefited from the transformation.

starving of Ethiopia

...And they got Harrry Belafonte of calypso fame to deliver the amount which was confiscated by the Ethiopian Marxist government. Hell is paved with good intentions, innit?

But I'm surprised that someone as intelliegtn as you is usign such simplistic arguemtns. This is not about liking or blanket condemnation of anything but focused on the bad exmaples commerpop sets and I specified concrete examples..

Mentioning that commerpop as we know it today was launched in the mid-50s is not a blanket attack on rock'n'roll. Actually it was originally quite tame ("Love me tender" set to an old German folk song), melodious ("I'm sorry, so sorry") or lively ("Rock around the clock"). But this is not about asesthetics, but about the influence on today's aggressive, brash, high-decibel and foul-mouthed commerpop on young, impressionable minds. As an educator, you must also be concerned about that.

Beyond content, one should also consider the potenetial physical impairment of high decibels (it'd be just as bad if it were Bach or Mozart) blasting the ear drums and rattling the nervous system of those walking about with ear-phones plugged in. Or youngsters and teens glued to the sight-impairing glow of the computer games for hours on end instead of playing outdoors after school. Those are among the other negative featrues of commerpop.

underpay taxes

Economic-research firm Bisnode Polska reports that foreign companies pay considerably less tax than Polish ones. They've got well-paid legal advisers showing hot to outfox Poland and transfer maximum profits abroad.

Thsi was especially prevalent under the Tusk regime and yet PF's BB tag team were strangely tight-lipped out it. Could they be crypto-lobbyists for foreign-interest groups?!
