Life / Russian Language - is it offensive if I speak it to Polish people? [69]

I've never had any issues with people being mad.

Near western Ukrainian boarder, Polish is commonly spoken, and yea they are rather happy to speak western slavic language which is for them something the opposite to the Russian that they were forced to speak for a long years.

however, trying speak Russian in western Ukraine you could come accross similar situation when trying to speak English in France... they can but don't want to.

Older generation will be happy to test their knowledge of this great language.

yes, sure, no doubt about it :-)

Russians are very friendly towards us

that's quite amusing

We should avoid poor prejudices.

agree, by organising more friandly street fighting events, which always was part of our slavic culture.

Language / New free funny video lessons of the Polish language on YT [9]

If you want to learn Polish by youtube why don't you use serious sources insted of that bafoon.

His Polish pronounciation would be ok for a foreigner, but he's Canadian born Polish which means his parents didn't teach him his native language properly, he also makes grammar mistakes, so if it makes you laugh you can watch it but learning Polish from that would be a waste of time

Language / What has been the hardest language for you to learn? [81]

I agree with you Lyzko and what I can add to that is that Spanish people who work in turism industry usualy speak English but other then that it's hard to find anyone with at least good command.

Language / What has been the hardest language for you to learn? [81]

I can introduce you to several with pleasure.

I wonder how much time would I need to make them switch back to English

It actually doesn't make sense - why would a Pole and Ukrainian communicate in Russian if the Ukrainian speaks Ukrainian properly?

Because the Poles don't speak Ukrainian?

Sure, but wouldn't that require the Pole to also know Russian to a very decent standard?

Sweet Jesus! another on with the reading issues

because all Ukrainian people speak Russian, this is the language they comunicate with as he has learned it in school before.

regarding the lack of fluency or even the presence thereof among Poles who 'know' English!

This is the source of the problem here that you have, an experience with Poles who don't 'know' English, or they know English but not at the fluent level because they didn't learn the language long enough or hard enough.

The fact is that English is as hard for Polish speakers as for eny other foreigners because English is not similar to any other language, maybe French people have a bit easier cause French shares a lot of vocabulary with English.

You say that the English person can learn Polish easier then the other way round. I think you could easier convince someone that the water is not wet.

There are millions of Polish people speaking fluen English.

I have never seen a single English person speaking fluent Polish.

Even you claim to speak fluent Polish and yet make unacceptable grammar mistakes.

Sorry but there is no chance for you to win that argument.

Lyzko, Spelling system of English is probably the worst from all the languages surely including Polish, but that's only one small thing among others.

Claiming that learning Polish for English person is easier than the other way round comparing only spelling systmes of those languages is in fact ridiculous.

I do not mean to say there is no Ukrainian - I just say, it is easy to communicate between us.

There are many Ukrainian girls with Polish guys in Poland. A friend of mine has got one, he says that Ukrainian girls make a good wifes, but because all Ukrainian people speak Russian, this is the language they comunicate with as he has learned it in school before.

UK, Ireland / Polish in Uk are some of the hardest working and nice people [37]

As a Pole in the UK I guess I qualify to answer this question :-)

And to your disappointment I have to tell you that I work for Austrian company KNAPP.

We build and maintain conveyor systems among others. There are more companies which are a competition for eachother in this business from Austria and Germany. I have never heard about any Ukrainian company in the UK in this or any other business.

Pirozki, kolbasa, holubsi, sc'chi and kasza?

holubsi?? sc'chi?!?! lol whatever are them None of these is Polish national dish.

Religion is part of the culture. You didn't say specifically which part of the cultore you meant, I guess you didn't even have anything specific on your mind and just automatically wrote something to disagree with me as I long time ago noticed you have a strange tendency of doing so...

How being called an Easter European can be an insult?

If I'd call you gay it would be an insult because you are not gay.

If you'd call me Eastern European it would be an insult because simply I am not one.

I couldn't explain it any simpler so I hope it will help you to understand.

The language,

oh wait so what is according to the UN Romania with romance language doing in Eastern Europe and where is Slavic speaking Serbia?

cuisine

well ofcourse, even Polish national dish is Germanic

culture

what culture? Religion? Poland - Catholic, Eastern Europe - orthodox

Because the CIA is only one agency from one country, and the UN is a massive organisation of various countries, of which Poland belongs to?

the UN - Politically biased source

the CIA - independant, objective geography

Love / Polish women and foreign men [76]

If I wanted to generalise, I could say that a lot of women (Polish in particular) just want to sit at home in front of the TV, while chain-smoking, drinking whole bottles of wine, and don't like going anywhere because they have anxiety attacks if they do.

Yes I have come accross many Polish women like that, that's why I chose a woman of diffrent nationality to spend rest of my life with.

Language / How can I say "Are you happy?" in polish? [5]

how to say "are you happy?" and "are you happy with me?" in polish.

You can also say "jesteś szczęśliwy ze mną?" without "czy" at the start with the asking tone.

"ze mną" sounds the best when you put it in the middle - "jesteś ze mną szczęśliwy?"
