Travel / Poland in photo riddles [3134]

wikipedia call it podpłomyk ;)

wikipedia also calls it maca

Maca (hebr. מצה) - chleb przaśny, przaśniki, spożywany przez żydów podczas święta Pesach.

Why Santa Clause likes so much polish kids that he visit them twice a year??? ;)

That's Mikołajki, st. Nick's day, celebrated Dec 6. Tradition has you hang your stockings over the fireplace and St. nick comes and stuffs them with treats

Travel / My (short) Poland experiences - bad luck? [142]

Does the above make any sense?

You hit the nail on the head. I visited Poland a few times also and you summed it up perfectly.
Nobody smiles there, but if you do, they think you are "nie poważny" - not serious, and think you are crazy if you smile.

The kids when taking pictures in school are always stone faced, never a smile.
They always complain, they are never satisfied, always want more.
Always pushing in lines, on bus, in airports.
Never a smile.
Sad

Poland-My experience

That's this person's experience, why so many angry posts against her observations, saying it's anti-Polish? Foriegners come to the US abd have their observations as well like fat stupid Americans. Lol. So what? Perhaps the truth hurts.

Food / WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE? [142]

kinda like how all Poles convinced themselves that air conditioning is "unhealthy".

Just like microwaves, clothes dryers and American food which they like to call "Amerykańska zaraza"

Food / WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE? [142]

...Maybe, just maybe, they look older because....and wait for it now...they've had a harder life. They've only had freedom for the last 20 or so years. USA has had it for centuries...- see the difference now.

Lol. Maybe if Poles learned to smile more, be more adventerious and drink more water with ice and be less uptight, worry what other people say about them they would express themselves by looking more realxed and younger. People who always complain, are always crabby, never satisfied, uptight makes them look older.

Food / WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE? [142]

The American diet is un-healthy as is possible, mass processed tasteless crap, loaded with sugar and salt.

There are cans of ravioli or campbells soups in stores which are processed foods but that doesn't mean everyone eats them everyday in order to be unhealthy. There are many other organic and salt, fat-free foods you will find in stores which you can also buy. American quisine is more diverse and healthy than the Polish one in the long run, which includes high cholesterol foods such as kiełbasa, bacon grease, fattening pierogi and some Poles eat a lot of high-fat butter and whole milk. Polish people look very old for their age also because of not only their diet but because they drink and smoke in in excess which gives you more wrinkles.

Life / POLISH YOUTH compared to the youth in other Western countries? [57]

Anyways I've always associated Poland with more alcohol abuse than actual drug (snort, snort) abuse (although alcohol is technically a drug).

Smoking is really strong in Poland everywhere you go there. Also many buildings smell of urine in Poland.

Food / WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE? [142]

FUZZYWICKETS:
Pizza Hut,
no free refills there.. you buy sodas by the glass or by the pitcher there..

mcdees, taco hell et all do not have free refills.. most restaurants do however.. most but definitely not all.

Must be where you live, because most of them places have free refills.
But Poles keep their soda on the counter then drink it warm so they must like it that way. But having it on ice tastes better because the carbonation is strong and if it dilutes anything then it's even better for you because you drink more ice and less sugar. Another reason why Americans consume healthier than in Poland

Language / Can you recognise the nationality of foreign Polish speakers by their accent? [43]

I can usually recognize a Polish speaker when they say, Good Morning (Goot Morrrning.)

Lol.
They cannot say the "i" in "is". No matter how much you try to teach them, they wil always say "ees", also the endings "ing" are always said "eenk", for example "speakink". And the list goes on and on. You can tell who is Polish who is German or who is Hindu by the way they try to speak English. It's funny. Lol

USA, Canada / polish people in usa that wanted germany to win [34]

Something is wrong with the Polish americans in The US. They run around screaming White power and they hate jews.

Don't tell me it's a lie since iv'e been in the US a couple of times, and seen it with my own eyes...

That's true. The Poles that come to the US do change a lot. Now they are in America, a country where they always dreamed to be, they make dollars, their dreams come true and they look down at Poland, at their country, overstay their visas and don't return back to Poland, which not only is illegal and criminal, but also they become greedy and obnoxious not only in the US but towards other countries. If they do succeed on becoming US citizens, they give the US a bad rep by doing the things they do in Poland, such as stealing, not obeying the laws and lying.

News / US shouldn't interfere in Polish election (Polish-American Advocacy Initiative) [60]

It is up to the Polish people, not U.S. officials, to choose the next Polish president.

Sure it is. The same when we had elections in the US and Poles were telling us who to vote for because Poles wanted what was best for Poland. We don't care who gets elected way in Poland, we don't like Hillary, she does not represent all Americans, she gives our money away to other countries, she is a useless piece of $hit. I hope she doesn't go because she will give our money to Poland again.

UK, Ireland / Are Polish people importing a new wave of ancient racism into the UK? [402]

English people are as racist as Polish. They just won't say it to your face. Poles will :)

If so then why are there so many nationalities in UK and it doesn't seem to bother anyone? Why when in Poland a black person shows up and everyone hides or points fingers at him. Polish are very racist. Period

USA, Canada / Better life in USA or Canada? - expats opinions and your comparison [143]

Better life in USA or Canada?

It depends what a person is looking for also. Some people like this, another likes that. We get 6 months of snow in the US also, such as the northern states close to the Canadian border, but then again we have Cali and Flor and all them other southern states where there is no snow, or once in a blue moon. But snow is not all that bad. Some great snomo trails up north.

USA, Canada / Better life in USA or Canada? - expats opinions and your comparison [143]

Canada's OK, but the US is much better. I don't like the liberal attitude Canada had achieved, there are many more lesbos and gays there than in the US, although nothing can be done about them once they start crawling out of the closet. Another thing I dislike about Canada is their Free healthcare system, which is also taking over America and that is scary. The government tells you which doctor to see, who to see, when to see him etc. and there is no freedom of choice of insurance. The healthcare in the US will be as bad as in Poland because the doctors won't care anymore, they get paid a certain amount by the gov. so why should they go that extra mile to heal someone.

News / Hollywood's War with Poland. [150]

Don't want to be a wise crack, but La Vita é Bella is about Italian Jews and has no connection whatsoever to Poland

I know, I was talking about war movies in general about Germany.
Now Germans should be upset that it's portrayed as evil ba$tards

News / Hollywood's War with Poland. [150]

The reason of common views about Poles and Poland in western public opinion.

So? What's your point? You believe in movies now? Can't tell the diff between movies and reality? It's true that there were concentration camps in Poland. Didn't you know that? Many movies were also made about Poland not in a negative way in itself, but as a war movie where Poles have suffered under the German occupation, such as "Schindler's list", "Life is beautiful", "The pianist" and many others. And it's good that Hollywood keeps those memories alive and makes the movie an entertainment, not like Polish movies that are so incredibly boring.

Poland sees America as a land of opportunity, where money grows on trees etc. Now there we have a problem.

News / Should Poland Remove Visa Restrictions? [285]

NO.Poland should tighten visa restrictions for ALL non EU nationals and introduce visas to citizens of those countries which enjoy visa-free travelling to PL but require visas from polish ppl

Why do you think Poland has abolished visa for USA? Because the illegal Poles could not get back to their country without being caught and Poland wanted their citizens to come back. That's why in April of 1991 the US were not required to have a visa to Poland.

u *******P O S!!!!!

You remove the visa now and all the Poles will run away from Poland. This keeps Poles in their own country.
