History / How come Poles like Russians but not Germans? [216]

In their late 30s/40s they turn into fat babushkas, and Western women begin to look *much* better.

Possible, but Russian babushkas are funnier than their German counterparts because

Russians definitely have a better sense of humour.

and are more artistic oriented.

I will say Tusk looks more Germanic than Putin

Because his grandpa was in Wehrmacht??? :):):)

You need to do a little research again, darling. :):):)

Life / Political correctness in Poland [210]

And I believe most will agree the US is more kind towards non-white people, gays and Jews. :-\

You forgot to add that US is less kind to white people. So when a white and black guys apply for the same position, the result is obvious. Nobody in US wants to be sued for racism, do they???? :):):)

What you call "PC obsession" is just something called equality.

hahaha Look above.

Saying that cows are prettier than women is objectifying.

Aah, you mean that joke? But I wrote it is silly. I mentioned it on order to critisize it!!! Don`t you understand it??? :):):)

Travel / Traveling around Poland - our photo stories with very personal commentary [225]

Ooops, we are going on holiday soon and I haven`t finished with last year`s vacation yet. Shyt! Guys, why don`t you remind me???

Let`s finish Gdańsk today at least.

Two places in the Old Town which are a must to see amazingly rich interiors.

Artur`s Court: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artus_Court

Performers in Gdańsk streets

Beggars of Gdańsk

Shame on this guy who exploits dogs. Sadist! I don`t like dogs as I prefer cats but using live animals for begging is disgusting.

Yummy! Food halls with my fav stuff - fruit and veg and raw meat!

After raw meat, some pudding.

And Russian women are much prettier than German ones
That's a lovely unnecessary douchebaggery post that doesn't contribute to the topic.

Mc Duce, it is perfectly related to the topic. Read the title of this thread and my post again, but without this lovely unnecessary emotional agitation as before, and I am sure you will see the proper logical relation.

Care to enlighten us more

Just stay tuned, my threads/posts are for everybody, not only for those gifted ones.

You've heard too many communist fairytales about the west, my friend, that's all... :)

Unfortunately, that joke is a few years old. Created after Poland`s access into EU. Noticed that motif of crossing the border???

you guys obviously haven't seen many German women then

No, we haven`t. We have only heard a few silly jokes. E,.g., how do you know that you have just crossed the Polish German border into Germany? Cows look better than women.

History / How come Poles like Russians but not Germans? [216]

Ive known a Polish person to say during the occupation that the Germans soldiers used to hand out sweets to Polish children whilst the Russians raped the girls.

No, you got it a bit wrong. I only said that my mother, a sweet blond girl, got a piece of chocolate from a German officer in Nazi occupied Krakow because she probably reminded him of his daughter back in Germany. Whereas, after liberation, when she approached an army field kitchen hoping to get something to eat, the Russian cook shouted at her and even waved a ladle in a menacing manner. So she escaped. That`s what I said. Stick to facts.

Life / Right or wrong, Polish controversies [11]

However, she should never have been allowed into teaching or any job connected with kids.

That was the thought of the journalist who wrote that article reminder. He even admitted in an interview he had given her some time to quit her job before the publication.

For a crime like this, she should have been executed or at least get a life in prison and a fact that she was allowed to be a teacher again is yet one more example how messed up III RP is.

Come on, I clearly wrote it happened in 1981/2. The sentence was given by a communist court. And they weren`t too lenient in those times as most crimes were judged according to old Stalinist code of law from 1950s.

Its too liberal an attitude. Clearly a person that commits such an act is not a full shilling. How can anyone know they have been fixed while inside? Too many times people have been released in the for perverse and violent crime only to offend again.

Yes, then they should be grounded for good. Three strikes etc.

Certain crimes should carry an indefinite penalty. I agree with your statement for pettier offences.

The woman has never comitted any crime in her life except that one.

That's a direct consequence of the relaxed attitude in Poland towards investigating who works with children.

Since when did they bother investigating? Especially when the person in question is a priest or a nun.

Yes, that is what I miss here. Teachers should undergo psychological tests. I know about 2 (out of 30) in my school who should be fired immediately due to certain mental disorders.

Food / What made in Poland produce would you recommend [110]

Some may disagree that economic partiotism exists or should exist,

Yes, in other countries it also exists, mostly as native oriented customers.
In Poland, for about 20 years, there has been a campaign of awarding Polish companies with this logo:

Portals/1/logo_bg.JPG

[i]The roots of the emblem "Poland Now" dates back to 1991 that is the beginning of the transformation of the economy and the creation of a free market in Poland. The opening of borders for imported goods has allowed the public to explore new possibilities for human consumption. On the other hand the Polish companies were inefficient and poorly managed, Polish technical thought was dying, and Polish products do not withstand competition with the imported.

Then came the initiative Polish Promotional Programme and the concept of Polish trade promotion. The idea behind this program was to promote Polish companies, as well as their support in the field of marketing in an increasingly competitive market. The graphic symbol was designed by Professor Henry Chyliński (author of the character of the Polish Radio and Orlen), and the author of verbal slogan Now Poland was Wiktor Zborowski.

Ideal but still hard to achieve. You forget how much Poland was ruined by 45 years of communism and WW2 before. What are 3 essential things to change socialist economy into capitalist one? Capital, capital, capital. Poland didn`t have any capital in 1989, the treasury was completely empty, burdened with giant debts. We even had to borrow 1 billion $ from IMF to secure the initial stage of monetary transformation. That is why Polish national companies and banks had to be sold to foreign investors. Otherwise, they would have gone bankrupt anyway.

What Poland has managed to do for these 24 years is amazing, but it was impossible to catch up with the best.

News / Polish flag in dog sh*t + the "Imperium" movie [37]

Kuba Wojewódzki planted a small Polish flag

How old is it? 5, 6 years?

What if someone dispalyed a photo of Michnik or Tusk in a pile of dog crap -- would that be OK?

Yes, on condition that in the 4th Republic you can also put Kaczyński photo in doggy doo.

And again, it is slave labor in favor of the Germans and I am against that, specially because I know the structure of REMONDIS very well

Intrigued by your posts about the German company, I checked the net opinions on them. Yes, work is hard, they pay about 1700-2000 zlotys net. But ex-workers say it is an excellent opportunity to gain experience as a waste collector.

The first segregated rubbish bins were introduced in Krakow around 2006. But segregation has been optional until now.

Here, my nephew from the countryside is becoming familiar with the novelty:

Life / Your least liked Polish TV series? [6]

Your least liked TV series?

I never watch TV series. But if I had to propose the one with which my enemies could torture me efficiently (remember rats in 1984 ?), it would certainly be Kiepscy which I consider a programme about morons for morons (many years ago I watched half an episode).

Life / Right or wrong, Polish controversies [11]

For a few days, Poles have been discussing certain newspaper article in which a journalist brought back a horrible crime from 1981.

A 26 year old woman, a teacher, beat her 6-year-old stepson to death using a heavy leather belt with a big metal buckle. The session of appaling brutality lasted for a few hours, blood soaked the kid`s clothes but father didn`t react to his son`s cries for help as he was totally dominated by the woman. The boy died, the doctor who tried to save him said she had never seen such an act of sadism before. The paramedic who assisted the doctor in rescuing the boy`s life fainted after seeing the wounds.

The murderer was sentenced to 15 years but got released after 10. The father got 5.

According to Polish law, 10 years after doing the sentence, your criminal record is cleaned.

She joined the convent and spent there a few years. When she left, she commenced studies and got a diploma in teology.

Today, the woman is 58. After the publication of the article, she decided to quit her present job, namely a teacher of physics/religious studies in one of Warsaw`s secondary schools. She was also dismissed from the position of an expert licensed by Ministry of Education to assess other teachers` careers.

Many people have spoken on the case, including Prime Minister Tusk. Most declared that a child murderer shouldn`t be allowed to work with children anymore.

Links only in Polish:

Mariusz Goldfinch, who described the case teacher Eva T. ( name changed) in the article Beautiful and Obedient in Gazeta Wyborcza , unleashed a storm. Recall , Eva T. , a teacher from Warsaw, in 1982, brutally beat her 6 -year-old stepson military belt with iron buckle , because the lost shoelace . As a result of the injuries the boy died . The doctor who examined the child had stated that he never met with such sadism . Ewa T. was sentenced to 15 years ' imprisonment. Kara took place . After 10 years out of the prison was blurred conviction and the woman returned to the profession of teacher. It was even an expert MEN . Until recently, she taught physics in one of the clusters of schools in Warsaw. The headmaster knew nothing about the past employed teacher.

I have multiple dilemmas on this issue. Sort of, I don`t know what to think about it.

E.g.,

Was the journalist right to write about a 32- year- old case? Knowing she will be easily identified?

Didn`t the woman have the right to remain anonymous and work as a teacher? She served her term, according to Polish law she is clean .

but

Was she right to continue her career as a teacher after murdering a kid?
