But, really, what I now see is that in the future, let's call it, Fraternal Union of Slavic Nations, the transition to using Russian would be, due to this close similarity, quite painless for Poles.

yes its in Croatian, the language sometimes sounds like Czech and does not have the eastern Slavic melody which makes it easier to understand...

Defenetely it's good thing to compare Polish with German as languages which
belong to the same family.Unfortunately I do not have Mongol dictionary with me to make
proper analysis of Russian and Ukrainian and therefore continue to compare them with
other Slavic languages.

Vlad really? I mean really? why are you getting so upset?

German is the only one language I know that has Polish "c" sound.
It's not my fault that Germany has been boardering with Poland for long centuries and effected us a little bit.
I really wish that Polish "c" sound was also in Russian and Ukrainian language, would definitely make you feel better...

I have question regarding pronounciation of Polish C letter.

Polish "c" is pronounced like German "z", for example in the word "zwei".

The exeptions are if there are latters: "h","i", and "z" after "c". In the first case the "c" is silent and "ci" and "cz" are diffrent from eachother but both similar to English "ch". Also worth mentioning that "ć" is a diffrent sound to "c".

"No" in Polish means nothing. You can use it wherever you want, meaning of this it's depending on accent you put to say it. It's like "well" or "umm..." or just a spacer. Means everything and nothing.

That's the most ignorant explanation of "no" I have ever heard.

Could somebody tell if we could say definitely that Polish is closer to Czech than it is closer to Russian,
and closer to Slovak than it closer to Ukrainian?

Now, after so much time spent on this forum I don't know if you are being deliberately obtuse asking such a basic question but I'm going to answer it seriously.

Yes, Polish is definitely closer to Czech than it is to Russian and closer to Slovak than it is to Ukrainian. Russian and Ukrainian are Eastern Slavic and Polish, Czech and Slovak are Western Slavic.

I do not see what Russian "L" has to do with English "W".
Rather "W" is something average between Russian "V" and "U".

Whatever this letter is you don't have it in English nor Polish.

It has nothing to do with accent of both languages when they speak in English

So what gives the different speach melody in English for Russian speakers if it's not the moving stress? comparing to the Polish speakers.

Could you give me examples of Polish words with letter "ł" sounding like English "W"? I want to check 'em in Google translator.

sounds Poles and Russians pronounce differently when they speak English so it makes Polish accent less pronounced?

Polish puts stress on the second syllable from the last one on every single word which makes the language to sound not melodic unlike Russian that has moving stress in the words that makes "borat sounding" melody of the speech.

Russian has no English "w" sound (Polish has, it's "ł") so they replace it with "v" sound and also "L" sound is pronounced differently in Russian, it's a sound between English "L" and "W", Polish in the other hand has English "L" sound, and it's even sharper.

There are some more differences that make Polish and Russian accents sound completely different when spoken in English.

But the actors are saying in the clip couple of words in Polish.

They did not say anything in polish, they made up some words to make it look like they say something in Polish which doesn't make any difference cause it's English tv series for English people who don't understand Polish anyway.

And why would they represent Polish accent as Russian or Ukrainian?

Russian accent is very strong and therefore easy to imitate, unlike Polish.
