Work / Salary for native speaker in Poland (customer service job) [7]

A ranking that I quoted here last week showed that Median salary for foreign language call center stuff is around 3000 PLN gross in Krakow and Wrocław and 4000 in Warszawa. Probably most people on this positions speak English and I guess Dutch would be payed more than median. Taxes are around 30%. If he manages to negotiate anything above it then it's good for him.

You don't see baby boom in 80' because you're looking wrong graph :) Look at mine - number of children born in given year and not population, which is more complex parameter.

Life / Do Polish people like Turkish people? [66]

If you're graduating IT in Polish uni right now, then you could easily find IT job here. How it will be in 4 years nobody knows.

Even if you learn polish, you will have to pay for studies, as you're not from EU. If you can present English certificate at B2 level then you can study in few places in English, but I think tuition are higher when course is in English. I am not sure if it's possible to learn polish for uni level in 1 year only. Maybe somebody here can answer that.

After graduating you can get working visa for 2 years here. Later you have to find IT company which will go through bureaucratic procedure of proving that there are no Polish applicants for the position to employ you legally. Currently it's not impossible as there is big demand for IT workers, but who knows how it'll be in the future. In the end you will need to get married here if you want to stay permanent.

Currently it's better to have diploma of public institution (except of this school: pjwstk.edu.pl), so try applying to public universities or polytechnics. Many private institutions are considered as worthless diploma factories here.

I think you would be ok as turkish student. Shouldn't be treated by professors worse than polish.

UK, Ireland / Why can't unemployed Polish people on benefits just leave UK and go home please? [240]

"it will change the fabric of british society and my identity if Immigration does not stop, now, it already has been let to get too far out of hand. I knew I'd be attacked for my views but I want to know why.

No, well... then Polish people are just being plain rude if they continue to talk in the workplace in polish, as this is england, I'm afraid.

I will leave this forum now, as I know that I'm not going to get any sensible, or at least, any answers that are not negative towards my country, or my view, which may seem xenophobic but I just can't help but see the major problems arising from the mass exodus from poland to england.

again, I can only assume that the man who is learning to drive with money earnt here, but flying back to poland for lessons, has short term plans here, unless it is just a way to get a cheap EU license, which is more likely.

its a shame we were so liberal"

- seriously? Polish people go to Poland to pass driving license? I was thinking that it's one of the hardest countries to pass this exam. Look at passing rates.

- too many immigrants? I am afraid that it's consequence of low birth rate. Without immigrants social system would collapse. It's same about Poland in 20 years.

- immigrants are not spending their money in GB? That's the result of them being immigrants. Anyway it changes about Polish people. As soon as they don't have family in Poland they're not stimulating Polish economy any more. So don't worry it will finish. (statistics supports that)

- immigrants from eastern Europe are not stimulating British economy and are the reason of lost decade? Ask somebody who knows better about economy. It's exactly opposite.

- est European immigrants are not escaping from prosecution, war. They're economic immigrants, so don't expect them to love your country and remember that your government could decide differently, not let them in and as results cut pensions, because every year would be less workers per pensioner.

One thing is that these immigrants are very bad for British workers. Such big number increased competition greatly and kept salaries stagnating. So I would say that everybody expect of low earning British citizens gained economically because big eastern European immigration. (by lower service prices and payed taxes)

Travel / Transport information in Krakow? [7]

I usually use this page: krakow.jakdojade.pl/?locale=en
mpk.krakow.pl/pl/bilety2/cenniki-biletow-okresowych - here are prices of monthly tickets.
In summary 48pln for 1 zone and 1 line 94 for all lines in 1 zone.
74 for 1 line in 2 zone and 144 for all lines in 2 zones,

For students of polish university is 50% discount. and for students of foreign universities up to 26years old ( but i think then some card like euro26 is required )

Work / Cost of Living, Average Salaries and Job sites in Poland [263]

Answers to a few questions in this topic:

98% people in Poland earns less than 80 000 PLN / year. 11 000 PLN / month is above that. Minimum salary is around 1000 PLN / month net, but people earning that rather don't rent apartments. Median salary is around 3500 PLN, but only when asking bigger companies, so real median must be less than that.

Rent of 1 room studio in Krakow center is starts from 1300 PLN. Little more than that costs 2 rooms apartment 30min to center by public transport.
50 m2 apartment in small town with utilities costs costs around 800 PLN

*all numbers are gross, net is ca. 70% of gross for median salary, check calculator:

News / Poland's population on the rise [24]

Poland has more emigration than imigration. The reason for population increase could be that after 2nd world war was baby boom, later this people at the beginning of 80' had their own baby boom children. And now this children are starting to having their children, but of course less, because of current style and emigration.

UK, Ireland / postgradute studies in the UK- student finance [7]

Probably she is some "philology" graduate and has no idea about technology = future unemployed. To make answer constructive: Scotland has different system than England. For example bachelor studies can be tuition free. Master are payed both in Scotland and England. I think every EU citizen can get loan from British government for financing this studies. This loan has lower interests rates than market charges and must be payed back only when annual salary is above some hard to achieve in Poland lever.

Study / Medicine school Fees in Poland [8]

philipe

Yes med schools with polish lecture language are free for EU citizens, although entrance exams are highly competitive. Learning in English costs around 10 000 euro per year for all and i guess exams are little less competitive because of the price.
